About Canon City

Cañon City, Colorado is the county seat of Fremont County. It is situated on the Arkansas River at the mouth of the Royal Gorge. The name “canon” derived from Spanish for “canyon,” named after the Royal Gorge. The estimated population as of 2006 was 16,124.
