About Boulder
Boulder is located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, just 35 miles northwest of Denver. Boulder sits 5,430 feet above sea level and is known for its natural beauty, outdoor recreation, natural product retailers, and restaurants. The Boulder Valley was inhabited by many Indian tribes in its early history, including the Utes, Cheyennes, Comanches, and Sioux. Boulder County was set up by gold seekers on October 17, 1858 at Red Rocks near the entrance to Boulder Canyon. Less than a year later the Boulder City Town Company was organized. Boulder was part of the Nebraska Territory until February 28, 1861, after which the Territory of Colorado was created by the U.S. Congress. During the summer, Boulder’s temperature averages about 70 degrees and in the winter the average temperatures are in the low 20s.
