Purchased 1st unit in 1985, satisifed with service and operation. In Dec 2000, compressor went out and according to vendor needed total replacement of inside and outside units. Decided that since it was 15 years old to replace with more efficient unit (Sorry mistake). Within 3 yrs, have to have inside condenser replaced, several boards, numerous service calls for low freon and freezeups. Latest just happened yesterday (compressor went out). It's under warranty, but will still cost almost $800.00 for service, labor, freight and freon. Only be warranted until Jan next which will be 10 yrs from original purchase date.. sucks!!!

"Nothing but problems"
I don't know if it is a faulty product or a faulty installer, but I am very unsatisfied. I had the main bearing replaced three months after installation, then two coils, and a compressor within another year. Now, the replacement compressor has failed in addition to the condensor fan and condensor board and sensors. We paid $20,000 for a new system and it has never given us one full year of trouble free performance. We have laid out an additional $2000 of our own money for labor and have to pay another $1800 to have the compressor replaced under warranty again. I am filing a complaint with the PA Attorney General. Enough is enough.

"Very dissatisfied with York Heat Pump"
It breaks down regularly. I had a maintenance contract the first two years but still had to call for repairs so I dropped it because it was just an added cost. At this point, it has not worked for over a month because they cannot get a part. I am very disappointed in York and cannot believe that a supposedly reputable company cannot provide parts for their equipment. At this point, I would never buy another York.

After moving into a new unit after three years, I just had to spend $457.16 to replace the outside coil. While Yorkaire has a warranty on the coil part, I had to pay for the freon that all leaked out and the freight charge to get the part. You get no satisfaction when talking to the company as that is just their policy. I had a Trane at my former home for 25 years and spent less than $100 for repairs in that time.

I'm a HVACR contractor and have installed York products. They have a good name but poor quality and factory back up. Several complaints I saw here were for low freon. They had a run of bad indoor coils. I have about 12 to replace. York bought Coleman in the 90's. Coleman frhs htp has been in my home 17yrs. 14 seer 9.0 hspf. After York bought Coleman, I had several factory issues. Went to Rheem. Tried York again 02-05 using Stealth htp. It was ok. Johnson controls bought York and same old song. Quality issues and no factory responsibility. As I stated on Rheem site, having a good contractor who sizes new/replacement equip. by doing manual "j" and designing correctly sized duct work is the first thing that needs to be done. No manufactures equip well perform satisfactorily if this isn't done.

"YORK AFFINITY18 seer heat pump"
I had a York model yzh03611b heat pump installed in Sept. of 2008. The first time it got cold out, it would freeze up and quit working. Two years later and over 20 service calls later and electric bills over 500 dollars, it still freezes up. York is horrible to deal with. No one will answer the phone. When they do, you get the usual corp. run around. What a nightmare!

"York affinity"
I had a York for 21 years. Worked fine then I decided to upgrade to a new Affinity (major) mistake. I have now had it for 4 years and the technician who installed it can`t get it to work. He has tried and not charged me but it still constantly shuts down and I am now into it for an extra 3000 in electric back up bills. It has been a nightmare. Up three+ times a night trying to reset it to keep the power bill down. I have to take it out in the spring and cut my costs and be able to leave my house with out worrying everything will freeze up.

"Junk would be a compliment"
I replaced both dual units in my house with new York Units. Wish I could say my experiences were better than everyone else but that is not the case. The latest this week is both coils in the inside units have to be replaced. In the less than 2 years that I have owned the units, I have probably had over a dozen service calls. One of the outside units was defective on the day it was installed. Must have been a warning sign. The company we purchased them through has been good about servicing the units (probably because they have a 2 year money back return policy). Getting ready to exercise my options, taking the cash and going for a different unit. Had American Standard before and I never had a problem with it. Should have taken it with me when I moved.

"Unsatisfied Customer"
Absolutely horrible. Purchased a new home with unit already in place. 1st year warranty replaced compressor. Lost count on 6 years of capacitors. There has not been one year that the cooling has made it through an entire summer without a problem. Just went through a summer with two repairs. During the 29 degree night, the unit stopped heating. The unit is running constantly. It is a one big pile of junk! The York Rep was called by the local repairman & was going to stop by our home to look at the unit in 2003. We are still waiting for him.

"Stunned"
My HVAC contractor recommended The York Affinity line with great enthusiasm. In the 4 years I've owned it, I have rebuilt the exterior unit completely and then some: 2 fan motors, compressor & a circuit board. I talked to York and they acted like they were doing me a favor by honoring their parts warranty. I have paid over $1500.00 in labor on a practically new unit. The first fan motor went out in 6 months! I'm just stunned they stay in business. I guess they pay a lot to advertise because no one will buy a York twice.
