"York Heat Pump"
We replaced our unit almost a year ago with a new york affinity heat pump. We haven't had one problem! Our neighbor replaced their unit around the same time, a trane from home depot, and the unit stopped working this past summer. I was not familiar with york but our ac company highly recommended it so we went with it. We also got a $1000 rebate.

"Equipment and Contrators"
I just read "MacT" review. I have had a York unit in my current house for 3 years and a York unit in my previous house as well. I have had no issues with either units. I know the contrator's I received prices from offered a 1 year labour on the entire machine as well as the standard factory warranty. Yes, I did get an option for the extended parts and labour and Did purchase it. I wonder why MacT's contactor didn't give him a year warranty on the work? Did he go with a reputable company or a guy doing a side job? It's hard to judge equipment if you don't know the quality of the contactor installing. I have done my research and know all new refrigerant equipment is susceptible to issues such as reversing valves, Tx valves and compressors if common practices are not followed. I am very happy with my York unit and would recommend it to anyone.

"???"
I guess I'm the one person only that got a good York heat pump!!! I can't believe all the negative comments. I've had my York for 17 years, since the house was built and I can't say enough GOOD about it! I've had some repair calls on it but for a 17 year old unit, it performs beyond my expectations. I'm sure there are some common repair faults, capacitors etc and I've had to replace the fan 3 times but all in all, it's been great. last fall since I had my heating company install Zerol Ice I've been getting heat from outside temperatures as low as 15 degrees. It looks to me like most of the complaints are from people who are ignorant of the operation of a heat pump. If they expect to get HOT air from their registers, they're being sadly disappointed. Just set the thermostat at the desired temperature and forget it. It's great comfort without the low humidity from a gas furnace and it's clean.

Review:
"So far so great!"
I have had this York heat pump (2 ton, with 2.5 ton air handler) for nearly a month and am absolutely amazed at how warm it keeps the house. This unit replaced an oil burner with a leaky tank. Right now it is 30 degrees outside, and the heat pump maintains the set 69 degrees in the house. The back up electric strip heat has not ever come on, even today! It has not had to go in defrost mode, either. Seattle has strict noise regulations and this unit is so quiet it passed inspection. I did not have to build a sound barrier even though my house is on a relatively small city lot, and close to other houses. I realize I have not had it long, but it has far exceeded my expectations, thus far.

Review:
"Very good old unit"
We live in Florida and our A/C runs nonstop from May-October every year, without fail. This unit was already installed in our house back in 1988 when we bought it, way back in 1991, it's the original unit, only had it serviced a couple times, once for Freon and, knock on wood, has been doing just great!! Now that it's about 22 years old, feel like we are really running on borrowed time with it, so have been looking around at new ones, but, honestly, reading all these reviews of the new A/C heat pumps out there is really scary, doesn't seem to be many good things about the new ones!! Any recommendations on just good, solid units would be appreciated, have checked Carrier so far, and are thinking of Lennox. Our neighbor has a newer Rheem, but the service guy has been at his house numerous times, and the neighbor doesn't recommend it either..Thanks for any advice!

Have had heat pump for 23 years. Spent very little on it. Just a transformer and a couple of controls. Never has needed freon or compressor. Don't know about the newer ones.

"Get what you pay for."
Bought my house with a York 10 seer heat pump installed. It was a lower end unit when installed, but has been a very good unit for the past 8 years. It lasted 3 years beyond the warranty, which is pretty good in my opinion. Changed the filters regularly, had the coils cleaned at least every other year, and only recently the inside coils have rusted and developed a leak.

Our heat pump is 17 years old and only 2 repairs within the 17 years. One was a mole chewed the power line coming in so can't blame that on York. The second repair was just done recently and it was a switch that was inexpensive. I am looking to replace it because of the tax credit.
