"Westinghouse heat pump package unit"
Put in a Westinghouse heat pump, package unit, 3 ton for my home 2 months ago, with electric furnace. Cools the house just fine, but no humidity control. Cannot get below about 62% humidity. The old Trane, 27 years old, I took out kept the humidity around 50% all the time. Working with contractor, but not happy, considering making him pull the Westinghouse out and put in another Trane.

"Total Piece of crap"
Since I installed it in March 2009, I have experienced a bunch of problems with this heating system. At first it was not heating or cooling properly and since I had a warranty they came out to fix it several times in the first few months of owning it and I continued to keep having the same issue time and time again. Then it started making an awful burning smell and I'm still unsure of what was causing this because my warranty was up and I couldn't afford to get this problem checked out. It uses up so much electricity for a piece of junk that doesn't even work properly and never has. Today I had to pay for the installer to come back to my house again and he found out that another part has been damaged! Apparently the Regulator Freon needs to be replaced. Seriously, what more could go wrong? This thing is junk. I would not ever buy from this company again or recommend it to anyone!

"Not worth the money"
Purchased a Westinghouse Heat Pump in 12/07/2008, Split systems model: ft4bf-06k/ftd080300162 Air handlers model: b4vm-x36k-b/b4d080105591 Since installation, we experienced problems after problem with our heating system. At first, the heat pump was not heating (winter 2008/2009) or cooling (summer 2009) properly. At installation, the installer gave us a 1-year warranty on the labor. However, after the first year we experienced more and more problems with the heat pump system. Here is some of the work done to the unit only in 2010 alone: July 2010 unit not cooling (loosing Freon, technician refills heat pump unit with Freon); October 2010 unit not heating (loosing Freon, technician refills heat pump unit with Freon); December 2010 unit not heating (Freon leaking – technician replaces air handler heating coil); January2011 rubber burning smell coming from air handler unit, unit stops operating (electrical panel melted needs replacement). Since all this work has been done my Electric bill has doubles in kW usage from prior year: February bill for period of 12/13/2010 to 01/17/2011 goes up from 3069 kW (2010) to 6011 kW (2011); March bill for period of 01/17/2011 to 02/15/2011 goes up from 2847 kW (2010) to 4816 kW (2011). Call PECO (local electric co.) out to check the meter, no problem found. Meter working fine! Called the servicing company out again to check the unit and find out why my electric billed double in usage. Today the installer came to the house again and found out another part damaged: The Regulator Freon needs to be replaced. What next? You decide if its worth it!

"Bad Unit, Warranty Stinks"
15 seer heat pump, less then one year old, has had 5 leaks repaired inside the outdoor unit. Westinghouse boasts of a great warranty, but they refuse to do anything. Our contractor has been working with us, and we feel sorry for him as he has ate most of the repair costs. We have contacted nordyne/westinghouse with no satisfaction. Outdoor unit still not working and now we are in the winter running on electric heat.....
