"Very satisfied with my unit"
Very satisfied with my unit. Suggestion: I live in an area where the theft of copper and/or entire units happens too often. I have just installed a CPI security system since all outdoor compressor units require, by code, an outside disconnect consider developing an application. That would require a code to be entered before shutting down the power to help deter theft. ??? Or is there one now?

"Trane"
My heatpump was installed during house construction in 1991. Other than cleaning the outside unit and changing the thermostat, I have done nothing. I have paid nothing. What scares me is that I know it's due to go and I want to be ready but given the reviews not one model is free of negative reviews. I really am leaning toward buying another Trane but............. look at the reviews.

"XL20i does the job!"
Early on in the installation. Second month of unit in operation (Feb) and electric bill is $100 less than last year's bill. The average temp is 10 degrees colder than last year as well. Pleasant surprise. I will try to remember to update in six months and a year.

"THE TURPINS OF LAKE NORMAN"
Unit still going strong..... We replaced our old Carrier unit with a Trane in 1995. Our present service company has kept our unit running great. We have it serviced/checked in the spring and fall for a reasonable fee. Yes, we have had a few breakdowns common for it's age, such as replacing the refrigerant valve in the summer and occasionally adding the necessary freon when it gets low, but overall after 18 years, the unit still runs fine. If it finally breaks down tomorrow, we will buy another one. (this model was the cheapest one that was sold at the time in 1995,the seer rating being at 13.35)

"Great Product"
My Trane is 15 years old. Had it serviced the first 2 years and then never again. This winter (2013) it ran very low on Freon. Cost me $340. If it keeps running I'm going to keep it. After reading so many bad reviews on Trane, Carrier, etc I'm afraid to buy a new one. I know mine is not as efficient as a new one but I'd rather pay foe electric than have constant repairs.

"Will Last the LONGEST"
I've worked on every make for years and knew I wanted Trane when I replaced mine 9 years ago. The issue I believe is that Trane is selling their equipment to just about anyone with a license and, as we all know, or should know, the installation is critical. If installed correctly by trained technicians, Trane equipment will outlast the competion hands down. Trane engineers and manufactures their own compressors, use all aluminum coils (both indoor and outdoor), and have the least call back/warranty repair. The bad reviews are either bogus or from individuals dealing with a poor installation.

"Dual fuel heat pump"
I had my house built in 1993 with a Trane Dual Fuel heat pump system installed. I have had no problems with the system but the thermostat just went out. Ridiculous price to replace a simple thermostat --- $250.00. Since it is only a 10 seer rating, I am considering replacing the unit. The only drawback is the cost versus reviews. With the reviews I have read, any and all systems are only worth about 10% of what is charged.

"Great service life"
A 2 ton Trane was installed when I built my home in Arkansas in 1996. I first had a problem this year July, 2012. The condenser fan failed. I guess this post speaks for itself. It has worked flawlessly for 16 years, both heating and cooling. I am replacing the unit this year for a higher seer to save on operating costs. Am looking into both Trane and Carrier units.

Review:
"trane heat pumps"
I bought my house 24 years ago with builder installed Trane xe900 split system heat pumps. They worked very well for the entire period with only minor repairs and were still working this winter. While they still worked, I figured I was living on borrowed time with 24 year old systems and when they did breakdown it would likely be one of those 115+ days in the summer. So I decided to replace them this winter which I did. All of my research said that the quality of the contractor was at least as important as the maker of the heat pump. So I reached out to several contractors with top grade reviews on Angie's List and the BBB for estimates. The one I chose was not the cheapest but offered a detailed analysis of my system and a solution for one cooling problem I had (two additional rooms off my garage that were not planned for in the original build and struggled to stay as cool as the rest of the house) who added two returns into the new rooms and closed other returns and built new sealed returns to replace them. I also received and highly recommend getting the extended warranty from Trane on parts and labor. My contractor offered his own parts and labor and satisfaction guarantee as well. I ended up replacing my old units with top of the line XL20i heat pumps, Hyperiod TAM8 air handlers and communicating XL900 thermostats. So far the new system is working very well (although only time will tell). One thing all of my contractors proposed to do was to replace the horizontal discharge top with the optional vertical discharge top. Unless you have a lot of room around all four sides of your system, I would insist on that replacement (and probably not choose a contractor who didn't include that in his estimate). By choosing the contractor I did, and having extended warranties from both the contractor and Trane, I am confident that if I should have any problems down the road, they will be taken care of quickly and at no cost to me (at least for ten years). One more thing. Many people buy the super "efficient" pleated air filers thinking they are good. While they are good, if changed regularly, at filtering out contaminants, they reduce air flow into the air handler and unless you size the system to account for that, the so called "good' filters can stress your system and reduce the heating cooling capacity. My contractor suggested the fiberglass filter; I found a company on-line that sells a Merv 7 fiberglass filter which I will be changing monthly that should do the trick.

"I love my heat pump it keeps me warm"
I have owned my heat pump for about 2 years now. I love it. What I love about it is that you cannot tell if it is on or not. I love the energy savings my bill dropped 30 percent. It keeps my family and I warm. It works great in the cold and i have never needed a repair for it. What I dislike about is nothing. Trane is a wonderful company I trust them. Nope I never had a repair. But I the old heat pump replaced do to leaks and various other problems. Yes absolutely I would recommend this brand because it was recommended to me by a worker at the store and i trusted them because they have one themselves and had no problems is what he said. So I took the chance and I love it and i would buy from them again. Thanks Trane.
