"I have had Many Problems Since Installing"
I have had many problems since installing a Trane heat pump. Paid for a 10 year warranty and had problems at least 4 times. Now after 10 years and 2 months, the compressor needs to be replaced. You can't stop a Trane wreck!

Review:
"Loud noises inefficient heating."
Purchased this unit 2 yrs ago and have had problems with it on & off. ac failing, leaks, heat not working etc. etc. The latest being that the heat pump makes excessively loud noises when it is in heat mode (not auto). When outside temps reach 40 degrees it makes a grinding noise like brakes on a wood floor and then cycles into this very loud banging noise, like a baseball bat being slammed against a wall. This happens as it is shutting down. We've had numerous service techs out to look at problem and they say its normal...I'd like them to tell that to my neighbors who are really aggravated about this. It does not happen every cycle, but often enough to disrupt our sleep, as the unit is right outside our Master bedroom and directly across to the neighbor's children's bedrooms. The unit produces heat, but not adequate to keep the house warm and we frequently have a blast of cold air before the auxiliary kicks in. Supposedly this is caused by the coil defrosting..which is not energy efficient ops in my book. Trane customer service does not exist, the reason they do not post numbers on their website...obviously too many problems and complaints that they do not want to deal with. it's a trane wreck!!! Carrier is the Top brand recommended by the hvac Assoc and judging by the way our current system is operating we'll probably be replacing it sooner than we expected to!!!

"Pissed Off More"
Not only is Trane product crap but customer service or is too. They promised the dealer that the new compressor would be here by Tuesday, but now they have called and said it will be Thursday. I don't see how you people sleep at night. I guess the same way all the powerful and rich people do. All I can say is there is a place for people like you and it ain't here on earth.

"Pissed"
I purchased a Trane April 2006 and the compressor already has to be replaced. Even though it is under warranty I still have to pay for the labor which is going to be around $750. When I talked to customer service they told me since I didn't buy extended warranty, labor was not covered. So basically Trane has their $5000 from me, so they aren't worried about it. Also, my aunt has a Trane unit newer than mine and her compressor also had to be replaced. Trane units used to be a good product but they are not now! So I would advise any and everyone do not purchase a Trane heat pump. I almost bought a Carrier but I thought a Trane was better. Boy was I wrong! Never another Trane for me!

"Horrible system"
I purchased a 13 seer Trane system 10 years ago and had it installed in a new custom built home. I have replaced every part on this system since. The compressor just died and fortunately I had purchased a Home warranty program to pay for the compressor. I would only endorse this product to a Marina as I am sure the heat pump would make a great boat anchor. By the way, if you want to "stop a Trane" come to my house and turn on the thermostat.

When the temperature drops to freezing, this unit puts out the worst scent. I had the repairman here to check it out and he said it's called "dirty sock syndrome." Because they can't find the cause. It never smelt like this with our old unit. We paid a lot of money for this heat pump and I will never recommend a Trane to anyone. This scent will even wake me up at night; it's that strong!

"Don't waste your time & money!"
If your hvac repair budget is the national debt, then you "can't stop a trane". Don't waste your time & money!!! I have had more dates with the repair man than my husband over the past 7 years!! Spent more $$$$ on paying him also. If you really want to know what I think.

"Bull Shit!!!!"
I bought my Trane in 2002 and it has been giving me trouble ever since I've had it. I replaced over 10 years 4 compressors and they keep going out and I'm tired of spending money on something that doesn't work. Calling different air conditioning people come out and charge ridiculous prices and I also replaced fan motor and compressor. I wouldn't never buy another Trane unit because they are not worth a damn!!!!!
