"Trane Wreck"
The Trane heat pump has been nothing but a headache since we bought the house. The heat pump was installed by the contractor or builder not sure. It's noisy and just a pain. The following year the compressor seized up and had to be replaced because our machine (which vibrates horribly) rubbed a hole in a line. Every year or so we have had to do some repairs or have something fixed on it. Wires have shorted out, the fan blower motor went on Christmas Day 2 years ago. Also one of the boards shorted out and caused a small electrical fire. Thank goodness for circuit breakers. Now after nine years the compressor has shorted out. We are replacing it with a Carrier or a Rheem just haven't made up our mind yet. We considered fixing it but considering the repair guy also found several shorted wires and two bad copassitors we figure its not worth fixing it. So we will replace it with hopefully something better.

"2TWX406B1000AA & 2TEE3F65A1000AA"
Purchased new 14xl14i 5 ton unit with air handler and new themostat 01/30/2007. Compressor failed 09/09/2008. Unit will not produce heat, service techs have come out many times and replaced boards, sensors etc... and then just say that's the way a heat pump works. Why would a unit blow 52 degree air into the house for hours and that be called normal. My old unit that came with the home lasted 10+ years and did just fine for the heat. Today I am waiting for a service tech to call me.

"TRANE WRECK MAKE A BETTER NAME"
The biggest complaint I have on this unit is the defrost cycle. It's junk in the way it works and the design of the aluminum coils which freezes up anytime. It gets below 50 degrees outside, brand new in April 2009, by December 2009 unit went into defrost and never came out until I shut unit down completely, had all the electronic parts replaced including the sensors, still would go into defrost on start up but at least it didn't get stuck. Well until the following year, and they started to replace parts all over again, NOW I'M ON THE 3RD YEAR OF OWNING THIS UNIT AND ITS WORSE NOW. THEN IT WAS BEFORE THEY MADE ANY REPAIRS TO IT, BECAUSE NOW ON START UP FOR COOLING IT WILL THROW OUT HEAT FOR LIKE THE FIRST FEW MINUTES BEFORE IT SWITCHES TO COOLING AND ON HEAT CYCLE IT THROWS OUT COOL AIR ON MOST START UPS BEFORE SWITCHING TO HEAT. WELL UNLESS IT STARTS UP ON DEFROST THEN IT GETS STUCK UNTIL I SHUT IT DOWN AND START ALL OVER, BUT EACH TIME REPAIR GUYS COME OUT THEY SAY THEY CAN'T FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. ALL I KNOW MY OLD UNIT THAT WAS A 11 SEERS RHEEM I NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEM WITH IT FOR 14 YEARS BEFORE THE REVERSING VALVE STARTED STICKING, AND I NEVER HAD ANY SERVICE CALLS OR REPAIRS ON IT IN ALL THAT TIME. ONLY THING I EVER HAD DONE ON IT WAS CHANGE OUT THE INSIDE FILTER. I GUESS I SHOULD OF HAD IT REPAIRED INSTEAD OF REPLACED BECAUSE I SURE GOT A LEMON ON THIS DEAL. WOULD I BUY ANOTHER TRANE- THATS A BID FAT NO. I WAS TOLD ITS THE CADILLAC OF ALL UNITS, SORRY BUT WHERE I STAND, ITS THE PINTO OF ALL UNITS.

"3 year life span"
I have a thrifty-six month -old heat pump and complete new system. Two days ago it went out. I called the company that installed the system and who I pay each year to service it. Was told the compressor went out and it’s under warranty, but I need to pay to have it installed. ($1000.00). Shouldn’t the manufacture be responsible for repairing their faulty merchandise that was purchased in good faith? Feel ripped off. Just finished paying for this install.

"Junk Trane System"
Had a Trane heat pump installed in 2002. We have averaged 3 repairs a year and have had 5 in the last 10 months. Trane was unwilling to even talk about the excessive repairs. Trane is junk so stay away from them.

"Set a house on Fire"
A Trane heat pump set a house on fire. In this home was a beautiful German Shepherd mother... the mother of my German Shepherd. She passed away in this fire caused by Trane's heat pump because this product is crap. Do not buy this product if you want to keep your house in one piece.

"Made in China junk"
Own 8 various Trane units installed on 8 condos. Earlier made in America units are great, newer made in China units are complete junk. Trane knows the newer Chinese made units are junk and give all sorts of excuses instead of honoring their warranty. If you have an older American made Trane unit hang on to it as long as possible. If you are shopping for a new unit, stay away from Trane, they have gone from excellent to absolute junk.

"Trane Weatherton Heat Pump"
My Trane heat pump, which is less than five years old, had a motor for the fan to go out in less than 2 years. This past summer (2011) the compressor burned up. Both these items were under warranty. However, my total labor charges were approximately $1,200. I wrote to Mr. David R. Pannier, President, Residential Systems and explained this by certified mail. This letter was completely ignored. I talked with the local Manager, named Terri _________, who was very cool and unsympathetic. She said, "I'm sorry you feel that way," not I'm sorry this happened. I was given the impression that I bought it, and if it went bad, so what? My advice to everyone planning to install a heat pump to go to another brand.

"XL Series Weathertron Heat Pump"
I am very dissatisfied with the quality of the unit. On December 9, 2008 I had to replace the heater bank which had completely failed. Today, October 7, 2012, I found out that I have to replace the compressor and pay for a much higher labor cost. The heater bank was made by Honeywell, manufactured in China. After I called Ingersoll Rand, the parent company of Trane, I found out that the new compressor is manufactured in Mexico. I emphasized the importance of quality control. If that is neglected by Trane again, this unit 4TWX4024B1000AA will be my last purchase of a Trane heat pump! I expect more from Trane!
