"Bull Shit!!!!"
I bought my Trane in 2002 and it has been giving me trouble ever since I've had it. I replaced over 10 years 4 compressors and they keep going out and I'm tired of spending money on something that doesn't work. Calling different air conditioning people come out and charge ridiculous prices and I also replaced fan motor and compressor. I wouldn't never buy another Trane unit because they are not worth a damn!!!!!

"It's a Lemon"
Have had a 5 ton dual fuel seer 12 for 7 years. Have replaced the mother board twice, the coil this past August, and now the compressor is gone. Told the technician to get the piece of junk off my property. Damn what's left of the warranty. I'm installing a Goodman! It's not hard to stop a Trane, but it is hard to make a Trane run.

"TRANE does not stand behind product!"
Had a trane heat pump on a rental property for 8 years. It's on its 4th compressor, 3rd fan, dropped freon once, had some expensive valve break, lost a resistor pack. All different calls. I have not had to pay for some of it as it is under warranty but have had to pay plenty of labor to the tune of $3,000!!!!! And guess what? TRANE will stand behind their product even though I have had 10 service calls in 8 years. Piece of junk, and the company is a piece of work. If I had the time I'd sue using the state's lemon law but I'm waiting for one more breakdown which I am SURE will come.

Review:
"air handler"
Today is Sept 14,2012 : I bought the XB14 4 tone heat pump (4twb4049e) and 5 ton air handler (4tee3f66a1000a) 23 months ago. When it was 9 months old the system died....in July.....90 + degrees.....and on a weekend.A circuit board burned out in the air handler. Apparently the 10 year warranty doesn't cover "after hours" or weekends. It cost me $300 and change to have it repaired. Corresponded with Trane in Texas asking why I had to pay to have this repaired when its only 9 months old and I spent thousands and thousands of dollars for the Trane system and why don't they stand by the Trane name. It was like talking to a politician. Last month the system died again ...August in Florida,hot-hot-hot...Air handler again. The bearings on the motor burned out..Dealer couldn't get a new motor for 24 hours,(could have if he wanted to but it was after hours). But I learned my lesson from last time, don't bother Trane in Texas and only have problems 8 to 5 Monday to Friday. The point of this complaint is "Why buy a Trane?". The company seems to be resting on the motto "can't stop a Trane". Well you certainly can and with a screeching halt. With the money you spend to buy a Trane you should not have these problems. The testing and quality control seems to be non-existent. I had a tossup between Trane and Carrier and I went with Trane because my old unit was a 20 + year old 4 ton trane heat pump and the Trane guy did a better presentation. Now I'm going to forever wonder if I did the right thing for my family by going with Trane. Right now I think I would have been better off with Carrier. At least I feel better by writing this and maybe give somebody some information to help make an informed decision about the purchase of a ac/heat pump system for the home.

"XL14i = problems"
We average hundreds of dollars per year to keep our unit running. Have had several freon leaks. The lineset has been replaced. Freon has been charged several times in the short 5 years we've had the unit in our "new" house. It was installed in our brand new house and has been nothing but problems every year. Few repairs were covered under the extended warranty. (Freon and linesets are not covered under warranty) Contacted Trane home office and local distributor but they all claimed that the problem was not due to factory issues. Even after paying about $750 for new lineset the freon still leaks out of unit. We are just going to charge it each year or so for about $200 till it crookes. We will never buy Trane again and have suggested to all of our friends that they stay away from Trane.

"WILL NOT COOL HOME"
I have had this 4 ton in my home for 8 years now and every year the service folks say it is doing all it can. It is a sorry excuse for an air conditioner and I will never own another heat pump or Trane product.

"HEAT PUMP AND AC"
Purchased Lemon unit November 2011. Had expansion valve issue from day 1. After 3 visits by ac service the unit stopped working in July 2012. I was 12 days without air conditioning because Trane did not have the part and it was being made by Parker Valve Corp. After Paying $45.00 for air freight and $500.00 later the unit was fix. I will never buy another Trane unit. Their Customer Service and Internet stinks! No help from them what so ever.

"Trane XR13 Rating"
Had a 4 year old Trane xr13 unit and only problems with. After 1 year starter solenoid died after 4 year solenoid died again and compressor died. Warranty on parts only but labor to get a warrantied compressor istallation $ 2,200.00. Trane customer service not responsive to e- mails about other questions and this case. After talking to customer service on the phone was tld that warranty is only for partial parts. Not worth to pay higher price for Trane because all it is is good advertisment but maintenance / repair cost higher than other units. Never buy a trane again.

"Trane Stop"
Built home in 2000 and was convinced to install Trane high eff units by my vendors. As an Architect I went high-end. I cannot tell you how many parts have been changed most under the warranty which is now long gone. Now as I sit here writing its 108 degrees and my 5 ton units compressor is dead...its the second one. Have dumped more money into this one unit than all of my ac units in the past combined. You cannot even buy big parts for it they have locked the consumer out. Never spec a Trane.

"TRANE WRECK"
Purchased 12/07 in upgrading an old but fully functioning heat pump, then moved from house in June 09 and put on market. Empty house w/temp set summer 84 & winter 65. No problems until July 2011- blower motor went out-parts warranty, labor not. Oct. 2011-outside expansion valve died- part warranted, not labor or freon -$525 total bill. Closed housesale on 6/26 (inspected before and no knowledge of any problem). 2 days later the unit developed near complete blockage/failure of expansion valve/line. Buyers moving in with ourside temp 104/inside 86 and 3 young children. Local dealer did not have part, none in 100 miles radius. Ordered part to arrive 7/3. Part covered, but another labor and massive freon charge. We intend to pay for these repairs although there was nothing wrong when we closed and we got slaughtered on sale price. a client of mine advised me that Trane made significant design chages to reduce the cost of production and that the newer units are nowhere near the quality that Trane formerly stood for. I wish I had known that client sooner. never again
