"I am very satisfied and would recommend to anyone thinking about purchasing one."
I've owned the heat pump for about a year now. It seems to be very efficient and our energy bills are much lower than they were before I had it installed. Our previous heat pump was very old and had broken down several times. I have never had to repair or replace the pump, but I would not expect to this quickly in its life cycle. I am most impressed by the energy savings that it has generated and also by the fact that it is much quieter than the pump that was here before. You can barely tell that its on most of the time, even when outside near it. I would definitely buy the same brand again and I would recommend it to a friend.

"Wonderful Product"
I own a Trane XB14 heat pump. I have own it for about three years now. I completely love it! It does and excellent job at heating my entire house even in the coldest weather. I have actually seen my utility bill go down from the usual high bills that I use to get in the middle of winter. Of course a lower utility bill makes everyone happy. I have not had a single problem with my Trane XB14 heat pump since the day I bought it. I do have a reputable company come out every year and check it out to be sure everything is working properly, but they have never found anything wrong with it. I highly recommend purchasing the XB14 heat pump. I have even recommended it to my family and friends that they should change to the XB14 heat pump even though there is nothing currently wrong with theirs.

"Very satisfied with our heat pump. We have had it for two years now."
We've owned our heat pump for two years now. It has been a very efficient investment for us. I like that it is a one-stop shop in that it provides the heating AND cooling. The only thing I can say that I sort of disliked was the price of the unit. It is rather costly up front, but it is worth it over time with the electricity bill. Our old unit was not very efficient at all and cost us big time in electrical bills. We have not had to have our unit repaired yet. We do get maintenance performed on it regularly in hopes that it can stay in good shape and last us a long time. I would buy this same brand again and recommend this to a friend. My friend actually purchased this exact same heat pump shortly after we did. She was impressed with its performance and efficiency too.

"Me and My Heat Pump"
I got my heat pump installed when I first moved into my current home. I did not get to do much research on the system beforehand simply because of circumstance but I'm happy to say today that I do not truly regret what happened and I would not have picked a more reliable Heat pump. I have had this heat pump for about 6 years now and it has been just wonderful. I have had only the compressor go bad on me which was about a year ago and it was still under the 10 year warranty so I had really nothing to worry about. I got a new compressor and the Heat pump started pumping like new again! One thing I really like is that it qualifies for an energy tax credit! Which was wonderful and I did not even know that it did until recently but I will for sure take advantage of that fact now! I think that TRANE is a good company and I would recommend them to anyone. This heat pump has not given me much to dislike to be honest!

"Heat Pump Review"
I purchased my Trane heat pump about 3 years ago and have been very satisfied so far. We have never experienced any major problems. I did research before my purchase and found that the majority of Trane customers are very satisfied. The Trane brand is very reliable and receives constant and consistent positive feedback. I ran across a few reviews from customers explaining small repairs and parts that needed replaced after several years but always read how Trane was very helpful, friendly and provided fast service. The only problem we've experienced is the heat pump freezing up during last winter. The problem was not because of the unit itself, but because of a leaking gutter dripping water onto the top of unit. A tech came out to take a look and he quickly solved the problem. Luckily the problem was caught soon enough that it did not cause any damage to the system or result in an expensive repair bill. The gutter system was repaired and have not had any problems with the unit since. What I love about my Trane is how quietly it runs! My electric bill has also went down. I would recommend a Trane to my friends and family.

"I Love My Heat Pump"
I have owned my heat pump for 5 years, and i absolutely love it.I like that it works properly, and i got it from a good company that makes a lot of heat pumps.I don't like how it gives out a lot f hot air.I like it at a minimum. My heat pump has had to be repaired, because it sometimes doesn't work right,or it has been smashed by my son. The repair did go very well,it did not cost a lot of money at all.The man that was fixing my heat pump was very polite, and respectful about the situation.I would recommend this type of heat pump to my friends, family, etc because it works very well.It may need only 2-3 fixes, but other than that it is a very well working Heat Pump.I know that my friends, family, etc would absolutely love it!

"Today I will give you my review of the Trane XL20i heating pump we had installed in our home."
The Trane XL20i is the heating pump that was installed into my home about a year ago and I am very satisfied with the results it is giving us. We had this heating pump installed into out home because my uncle works for this particular company but the results would be the same for anyone who would like to install this heating pump in their home. The heating pump has not given us any problems since we have installed it and we hope to keep it that way, they are very durable and a reliable company, so if something were to happen with the heating pump they would be there to help us repair the heating pump. I would recommend the Trane XL20i to all my family and friends because it is effective and we have not had any trouble with the heating pump as of yet. With proper up keep of the heating pump we hope to get a long life out of the heating pump.

"totally satisfied with my trane heat pump"
I purchased my Trane heat pump when the older one in my house burned out about four months ago. I got it through the Trane website, and I have absolutely no complaints about the item so far. It has done a great job of keeping my entire house warm and comfortable, and I have definitely noticed a significant drop in my heating bill. I got the "ultra efficiency" version because I wanted to reduce my energy use, and it has certainly lived up to its name! I had a couple guys from Trane come and install it for me, and they were very courteous and helpful and showed me how to set up my temperature preferences before I left. This was a particularly cold winter, and with my old heat pump I always noticed how the temperature had to drop substantially before the heater would turn on; however, with this unit there is no perceivable change. It also does a great job of keeping the humidity under control in my house. I would definitely recommend Trane products to anyone looking to upgrade their heating system.

I am replacing my Rheem seer 10 that is 16 yrs old with a 1.5 ton Trane xr15 with variable speed. It is costing me 5650 but I do get 1500 credit and 400 rebate so in the end it is 3750. Is 5650 a good deal for this unit? I would like to know if I'm getting ripped. The install is next week and I will let you know if this is a good unit.

"Very Happy with Trane"
I bought this house in 1995 and it had a Trane xl 1200 heat pump in it. It never gave me a moments trouble but in 2008, the old system was 17 years old and I wanted to take advantage of the tax break for a new system. I purchased the 19I heat pump system at that time. I have been extremely satisfied with that two compressor system and my electric bills are incredibly low. The comfort is also better as most of the time it runs on the smaller compressor. Once again, I have had no problems at all and it performs wonderfully. I agree with one of the other reviewers that the installation makes these run well or in some cases not well. For those who have had problems, perhaps they should switch their service companies. I expect that this system will last just as long as the previous heat pump system.

"Trane XL16i heat pump is a lemon"
I live in Florida and bought the Trane xl 16I for it's supposed better efficiency. Within one year the coolant leaked and the coil had to be replaced. Luckily that was still on warranty. Now, it has leaked again at a different location and I had to pay 200 dollars in labor and coolant charges. The installer is so disgusted with Trane that they no longer install Trane equipment due to frequent equipment failures and poor response by Trane to the problems.

"Trane over 25 years"
Just replaced a 2 1/2 ton Trane heat pump from 1984 and still was running good, both heating and cooling in Virginia Beach, Va. As far as I know, the unit never needed major repairs. Replaced with a Trane 3 ton xr15 heat pump and variable speed air handler. It works great and the rep is great. You can't stop a Trane they say and I agree. I think the installation has a great deal to do with how well the units work amd my installation was top notch.

"Horrible Heat Pump, good extended warranty."
Fortunately, I was offered an extended 10-year warranty. To date, I have had the compressor, various valves, sensors, and the coils replaced. During the last two winters, I had to run my heat off the inside furnace - 90% of the time >>> emergency heat. This in turn has caused my heating bill to increase by 2 1/2 times. My Trane xl1200 - super-efficient heat pump has been the worst unit I have owned in 50 years. No more Tranes for me.... Next month I will probably be looking at a new Carrier.

Replaced a working less efficient system with a Trane XL15i. Three years later, the coils are leaking and replaced for $500 free parts under warranty. After start-up, the reversing valve is leaking. I'm looking at an additional $500 for another warrantied part to be installed. As with everyone else... NO Trane support. Local Rep does not even fake it like he cares. There is no phone # to talk to a human and the guy that answers my pissed-off emails offers only canned answers that don't pertain to my problem. If you are considering a Trane system, I would suggest you smash your thumb real hard with a hammer and buy something else... It will save you hours of pain later.

"Heat Pump XL15i failed next day after installation"
The Heat Pump XL15i failed the next day after installation at the end of February 2009. And since that time, the heat pump has not performed well even during two consecutive months. The System stuck with the status “Heat On” and hangs and of course, no warm air was coming out of my vents until I reset it manually (set to emergency heat and switch back to heat). The service company has replaced thermostat, defrost board and other components but the problem is still there.

"We have been satisfied so far!"
We had to replace 15 yr old Trane unit and air handler 2 yrs ago. We used the local Trane dealer to install the XL16i unit. So far, no complaints. In fact our other air handler is dying right now, so we are looking at replacing that 17 yr old air handler and 6 yr old 10 seer pump with a new 15 or 16 seer Trane. I believe the installers can make a big difference. Make sure your lines are new or get flushed out from the old 22 refrigerant to the new 410!

"Problems w/ Brandnew Trane XR15 A/C and Heat Pump"
After a ton of research and recommendations from several people we wnet with a Trane. We also decided to go with the top of the line xr15 15 Seer unit with the variable speed fan. The installer came highly recommended and does residential as well as commercial work. After one day we noticed that the house wasn't cooling, I went to ther garage the air handler was blowing, checked the heat pump, nothing it had frozen up. a tech came out and checked and said something about the unit not being programmed correctly and reprogrammed it..The unit worked fine again for about 3 and a half weeks, then just the other day my wife heard the heat pump cutting on and off, got the tech back out and it turns out that the "board" needs to be replaced..The part is not in stock since the unit is so new so we have to wait about 4 days. Fortunately, the tech was able to do a bypass, so we still havee air. As far as I'm concerned the jury is still out on Trane, but I can tell you that these problems don't give me much faith in the product.

"do your research!"
This is a reply to r davis... Sounds like your problem needs to be taken up with the contractor not TRANE. If you would have had a Trane comfort specialist install the system they would have known that the XL16i CAN'T be used with zoning. If installed properly your energy bills will be lower. My advice is to call the Trane Comfort Specialist that you passed up because they were too much money and have them tell you what is wrong with the install.

"Trane is the best"
I am a idependent hvac contractor in portsmouth Va. and have the opertunity to sell any brand a/c units we want. In our industry when units break down after we install them the manufactures do not pay us to fix them. Therefore its in our best interest to sell ones that do not have problems. I installed a XL16i heap pump in my personal house 3 years ago and it exceeded even my expectations and we sell hundreds of these systems every year, so it takes alot. Trane is by far the best brand but if it's installed improperly it's not going to work. The installation is even more important than the brand you buy. Unfortunately it's a proven statistic that 90% of the systems that have been installed since the mid 1990's are installed improperly. That will explain why some people on this site are very happy and most are not. (Also people tend to complain more than they commend) Trane has its share of problems ( anything that is made by man does) but I can assure anyone that they are far fewer than any other brand. Do you homework on the contractor you are going to do business with. Check the bbb, check references, check their customer satisfaction score through trane. And last remember the cheapest contractor is almost never the best. Thank you, and take my word for it Trane is the best unit built.

"CONSIDERING TRANE TOP-OF-THE-LINE"
Wow...i thought Trane was it! All the bad reviews on the new units just creep me out. We have three Ruud a/c units which are 23 years old. They run fine. Air handlers are rusted out and leaking...Considering 3 THREE new XL20i's to replace existing. All the negative comments about new equipment have me wondering about just keeping the old units and getting a fix on the condensation leaks.... Someone please help me understand why the newer units seem to suck?

"Trane XE 1200 Heat Pumps"
Purchased (2) xe 1200 4 ton units with variable speed air handler in May and June 2001. The compressor just went out on one of the units this week. I'm disappointed since I expected better performance from a Trane based on their reputation. I didn't realize the compressor was on the blink until we got our Jan electric bill. What a surprise. The unit was not shutting off and the heat strips we're on all the time. Not sure whether I'll replace this unit with another Trane but I am looking at other brands with a better warranty. I think it should have lasted more than 7 years especially given the price of the unit.

"Trane XL16i"
Installed Trane XL16i, variable spd, hw media filter, Aprilaire #600 in May 2006. Been very pleased with unit. Replaced unit cost us $240 per month on budget plan w/electric co. New unit lowered our bill to $170 per mo. (2400 sq ft home).I Have hand eczema, and the heat pump does not dry my skin as bad as gas in previous homes. This winter temps. are colder than previous years and will comment when temps fall below 10 degrees the heat pump shows signs of struggle, our thermostat is set at 65 and heat pump falls 3-5 degrees below the set temperature. I have Delonghi radiator heaters over the kid's vents to keep temps in their room warmer during this time. if you are located where temps fall in the 10 degree mark or lower, rec. to install back up furnace of gas/oil/ wood stove to keep your home warm. As with any brand of heat pump you have installed, the units are only as good as the contractor who installed it. Shop for a contractor first before choosing the brand, all units are built very well nowadays. We chose our contractor, and chose Trane due to the 10 yr warranty which other brands did not offer at the time.

"Mister"
I live in the South and purchased a Trane xl 1200 5 Ton Heat Pump and twh064 Variable Speed Air Handler in 92. Had a one year parts and labor on it and 10 years on the compressor. I paid $ 5,000 for the unit new. I've spent that much in repairs not covered by warranty over it's life. The compressor went out in 2002. Most parts in the air handler have been replaced over that time. The outside unit was replaced in 2007 with a XL14i which cost me $ 8,000. (too much I'm told but the compressor burned out and it was hot. I believe the dealer took advantage of that). Now the module in the air handler is out. They want $ 2,100 to replace it as it's combined with the motor. Dealer wants $ 4,500 for a new variable speed air handler. My neighbors all have cheap "Builders Model" units and my Trane has cost three me 3 times as much in repairs. So I would say that it's not any better than they were if not worse and much more expensive to own. When it's working it does a good job but it's awfully expensive to own.

"New Trane can't compete with 18 yr. old Carrier"
I bought a 3.5 ton Trane xl 1200 heat pump in Sept. '05. When it heats up in the summer (over 105) the thing runs for 50 min. out of every hour. When it tops 110, it runs nonstop and won't cool the house below 79 degrees (I have documented run times several times over the years). The 18 yr. old Carrier it replaced never had a problem doing this. I only replaced it because it needed service and it was very old. I thought it would be better to put my money into a new, efficient unit. What a mistake. Trane techs have been coming out here repeatedly and tell me that this is normal operation. Really? I thought I'd save electricity by going from an ancient 8 SEER to a 12 SEER. Nope. Not likely when the unit is running all the time. Today they tried to tell me that my house isn't insulated well enough (didn't seem to bother the Carrier). My two next door neighbors (same houses, same insulation) went the cheap route and purchased Goodman units. They do not have these problems. I feel like an idiot for forking out an extra $2K for a (supposedly) top of the line unit which is obviously inferior to the cheapest unit on the market. On top of all that, the installation, by what is supposed to be the top rated Trane dealer in the area, was a complete botch job. The brought the wrong pitch rooftop stand, then they brought the wrong unit (left hand instead of right hand) and rigged my ductwork with flex ducts to make it blow in the right direction. I can't believe I paid top dollar for this. If they offered me my old battered Carrier unit back, I'd take it in a heartbeat.

My home when purchased had a GE Weathertron system that functioned superbly. The first problem was the outside heat-pump and I had it replaced with a Trane xl1200. I did not have the inside air handler replaced because it was functioning 100%. Here it is 2008 and the only problem I'm having now is the blower motor has a noise. I'm considering replacing just the inside handler with a Trane 2tgb 2.5ton unit. Can't beat a Trane.
