Overview of the RPWC
The Rheem RPWC is a remote commercial heat pump offering an Energy Efficient Rating (EER) of up to 9.6. The RPWC also uses a direct drive, single-phase lubricated PCS motor with a motor mount to keep operation sound low.
Additional components include galvanized steel cabinets with a powder paint finish, external and close-to-the-ground refrigerant connections for quick maintenance, and matching blower and evaporator coil units. "Worst unit ever!"
We moved in our brand new house 3 years ago with a brand new Rheem heat pump. From day one we have had numerous problems with this unit. We've had it serviced 2x a year and all we get in return is super high electric bills and problem after problem.... Expansion valves to be exact. Rheem will not admit there are problems with these valves. This unit has cost us big money since the warranty does not cover labor or freon, which is extremely exspenive! Now the compressor is almost shot due to these defective valves. Rheem representives are of no help what so ever! We could have bought two brand new units with all the money we have dumped into this worthless unit!! So with that said we are now spending big money to replace the "still under warrentied" good for nothing Rheem unit and I can promise you it will not be a rheem!!!!
Other RPWC Reviews
Because this is a commercial unit, reviews of the RPWC around the web are minimal. However, consumer review sites such as hvac-talk.com or doityourself.com indicate that Rheem is a well-respected HVAC dealer with good name in the industry and produces quality equipment.
Contractors and homeowners alike recommend Rheem heat pumps to shoppers, saying they offer reliable performance, high efficiency rates and reasonable prices. On the other hand, several contractors on hvac-talk.com reiterate the installation matters more than the brand. Purchasing the right size product and having an experienced professional install and service it is essential for unit longevity.
