"so far so good"
Had my heatpump for over 15 years now and runs good have had problems with the capacitors for the fan and compressor failing but in arizona heat that's almost to be expected. Got new capacitors changed them both myself. This is something that should be done every few years because of the heat. Also changed the contractor at the same time because it also does not last for ever. A person can save big bucks doing this themselves, just have to remember to remove the power first. I get a check up in early spring and has held a charge since day one. it's getting up there in age and will replace it with a more efficient unit when I get the money. Not sure I'll go with a Rheem again but with the success I've had with this unit I just might. Sorry to read about so many people having problems with their systems, maybe they should find a new service person.

"Hope this will help"
Great price for both outside unit and blower. I changed out a very poorly built tempstar 13 ( 3 evaperator coils in 5 years time, curcuit board in blower, compressor died at year 12) Done! I checked out furnace reviews. Rheem at that time rated #3 ruud #2 amana#1. As preprice point, ruud and rheem are the same unit, the lower cost will always will win and that was Rheem. 13pjl48a/rgslhm4821ja model# with a programable thermostat. We changed out 3.5 ton to 4 ton ( please check sizing chart to the homes sq ft) And what a change it made in tempature and run time. And for a price of $3050 total! The outside unit uses full lovers to protect the coils ,the paint looks durable and inside blower is quite ,However the the outside unit is very loud! When it starts or cycles on or off. Im not sure if its the way it was installed on a new plastic riser pad. There is a big thud at start up and shut down, but quite when running.so far great unit a word to the wise! Shop the overall price on unit and installation !The 1st guys and the fastest contractors were the most expensive by as much as 3000.00 dollars more. also Shop the contractors that post there prices for btu or size of unit. If they advertise a price, use it as a rule on thumb. I got prices from the papper mint a local coupon magazine.do your home work, check them out and hold them to there price.check bbb, And also ar if they are a recommended top installer for the brand you would like to have installed. All this information is is posted on the fatorys web site. And by the way most manufactors are giving you a 10 year parts warrenty at no cost to you.

"Still running but for how much longer?"
The heatpump has given me problems over the years but is still working. Had to push the reset button the other day but after that, everything was fine. Had a Rheem repairman come out and basically said it was running fine but a slow leak of freon somewhere. He did say, I would need to replace it in the near future. I guess right now, I hold my breath and praise the Lord for all the good years(well a few problems too).

"An average heat pump"
Although I have not owned the heat pump for very long, only about three months, I already know from my experiences that it is a very dependable pump. There are no major downsides but it doesn't do anything above and beyond what a regular heat pump would do. Though there are no real customizable functions on the heat pump, however it was all of the features that are listed on the product's page that attracted to buy me. As far as I can see, these all have worked so far. Of course, I haven't tried to use it for much more than the basic functions so my knowledge about this is limited. So far I have not had to make any repairs, nor do I see any signs of a repair being necessary any time soon. This brand was recommended to me by a friend and I, in turn, have also recommended it to a friend of mine when her previous heat pump broke.

"Solid and Effective"
I have owned my heat pump for the last year and it has been a good heat pump. This heat pump will get the job done effectively most of the time. However, there were a few occasions where the pump did not kick in right away and took a few extra seconds to work properly. I have not had my heat pump repaired after my 1 year of use. I would probably buy the same heat pump again unless someone offered me a comparable quality heat pump for a cheaper price. I would definitely recommend this heat pump to a friend, but I would tell my friend to shop around to see if they could possibly find something better. However, I think they would have a difficult time finding something better if you combine the quality and cost effectiveness of this heat pump. A good product at a good price!

" 14 year old Rheem"
I owned a Rheem classic viii high effeciency heat pump since 1995. I had three problems over its life. The defrost card failed twice and the compressor pressure line failed due to being improperly supported from the factory. The lline cracked just downstream of the compressor. The compressor is about to fail now. It keeps shutting down on the thermal over heat, but the pressures look good. It has been a fairly good unit all things considered. Two of my friends installed similar Rheem units at about the same time. All three lasted between 12 and 14 years, so that appears to be about the life of the unit.
