"wouldn't trade it"
I closly read the "very unsat" reviews and have sumized that 90% have to be boggus. Interesting that there are no middle-of-the-road. My Rheem has been totally problem free keeping me most comfortable year round even on 14 degree nights. My power bill was cut to one third when installed with no signifacant change year round. I recently have been very impressed with thier superb support teams quick responce and patients answering my questions. In the reviews there were two contractors who highly rated Rheem and I completely agree with them. You can find many other experts who have a high regard for Rheem. I highly recomend Rheem but I also highly reconend choosing a dealer from thier site.

"40% Savings"
Purchased Rheem Prestige Series heat pump two years and very satisfied. Cools and heats great, keeps house at constant temperature. My winter and summer electric bill is 40% lower and I keep the house cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter than the old unit. Highly recommend.

"Nothing but Rheem, however......."
Typically, you don't replace your heater/ac unit that often. Mine went in the blizzard of 2003. I plodded through to Spring (early arrival that year!) with electric back-up and a set down thermostat. During that time, I heavily researched heat pump mfg's but more importantly I researched local installers. I agree with one other comment here that the installation is critical. Anyway, for me, Rheem is the only way to go. I clean the indoor/outdoor coils myself and clean the filter monthly (or more; 2 cats). This year (2010), we had 3 major snowfalls and my electric bill was within $1 of the same month a year ago. That's a lot of defrosting and of course, brooming away the snow as much as possible. Rheem, baby, Rheem!!!

"Rheem is great"
I purchased a home with a Rheem 12 seer heat pump. This unit has operated flawlessly for this time period. The utility bills are very reasonable even after our 30% in utility costs. I would install this product again without a doubt.

"Rheem 4 ton, 10 seer, 17 years old"
17 years old and had our first problem with it. Never had it serviced, just kept coils clean ourselves. Great product.

"ok so far"
Just had a new Prestige 3 ton unit with variable speed air handler and touch thermostat. The air handler makes a lil noise when it's on high speed, but our old system was silent. Our old system also was very clogged, which made the air flow very slow. This system has about triple the air flow(old system Lennox). The air is ice cold (52 degrees) and we can get the air down to 65 if we want. The heat pump is almost silent---waaaay quieter than our Lennox. It seems to handle our air effortlessly. I will update this when heating season comes.

"Two Rheem heat pump systems."
We had two Rheem heat pumps installed when our home was built 12 years ago. We had never experience any problems with them until this spring 2010. The unit for the upstairs will not cool. When it runs, it makes a very odd noise. We called the company that installed the units. First, it took two weeks for them to return call and they were supposed to have been here last week, so far no show. I think the problem with heat pumps is not the equipment, but instead the contractors that do the installation.

"Mr."
My Rheem is outstanding. It was still running.... but was stolen. This A/C system needed 1 dryer and 2 capacitors since it was installed. I live in central Florida so in its stay it had quite a work out. Take care of your equipment and it will take care of you for a long time.

"Great System"
I see all these negative reviews, and I just can't help but wonder. 99% of the time when there is a problem with your HVAC system, it is Contractor error. Being in the business a few years back, I can safely tell you that it's not the equipment, but the installer. These units are fired up and quality tested at the plant before they are even boxed up. These issues that everybody talks about are caused by not pulling a proper vacuum (300 microns or less), no driers, undersized indoor coils, oversized outdoor systems. Contactors, relays, and other small parts will fail all the time no matter what name is stamped on the unit. These items have a limited life, and they are not manufactured by HVAC equipment mfgs anyway. Alright off my soap box. I had a new Rheem 18 Seer Prestige system put in last summer and it has been nothing short of amazing compared to the Trane that it replaced. It's super quiet and I haven't had any problems whatsoever with it. Just to let you know it's a new design(No contactors, or relays to burn out) So yeah, I would recommend it, but I want to stress the importance of finding a reputable dealer to install it. I used a Rheem Team Guy I found at the Rheem website and I would highly recommend them. Hanks Service was their name.
