"BAD UNIT"
Rheem Heat Pump is only 3 years old, compressor burnt out, their safety breaker didn't work so it burnt out our main breaker which cost us $95. The compressor was under warranty, but the company charged us to ship the part to the installer, also charged us for the freon, filter and labor in all it cost us $435 just because their product didn't hold up. So please if you are in the market for a heat pump don't chose a Rheem, the company doesn't stand behind their product.

"TERRIBLE UNIT"
I bought this rheem classic after my last "no name brand" unit went out and parts were discontinued. I was confident in the choice being Rheem and having a 10 year warranty. Too bad they did not tell me that the 10 year warranty is conditional. Does not cover labor or freon. Compressor is warranted for 10 years other parts 5 years and less. I have had nothing but problems out of this unit. Now have to replace the coils in it. I don't believe any brand is going to be worry free I mean lets face it they just don't build anything that last now days. Name brands are a joke.

"Very, very disappointing brand."
We bought our house 6 years ago with 2 Rheem heat pumps that were already installed. One started to have problems at year three and after numerous repairs we decided to replace the unit. We were told that our unit was undersized for our house and running too long and hard... and that is why it was giving us so many repair problems. We had a new 4 ton split system installed in August 2010. That unit quit working 3 days later and had over 7 services calls in a 6 month period. After our service technician met with Rheem and sent several letters Rheem finally decided to replace the system. It was replaced in February 2011 and on September 2011 this new unit quit working. My advice to anybody would be to find another brand to install unless you like to spend a lot of money and be constantly without air conditioning and heating. It is the worst product on the market. Our heat pump quit working again on 09/02/11 and 4 days later we are still waiting for repairs and without air conditioning in Alabama with 95+ temps every day. The tech that installed the unit won't return our calls and Rheem will void the 5-10 year warranty if we have another company repair it. Very, very disappointing. Do yourself a favor and run far away from any Rheem product.

"My Rheem Furnace/Heatpump/Ac Unit Is Junk"
Going on three years with my top of the line Rheem. They put it in and replaced in two weeks with a new one. Still want work and the salesman will not do anything about because Rheem will not help with all the labor he has in replace the first one. The heat pump and ac unit still don't work. Pay that much for a heat unit and its junk. Just put a new Armstrong in the house my company built and its works great. Think twice before buying Rheem product. The service from Rheem has been very unsatisfied.

"My 3 years old Rheem heat pump has died"
My 3 years old Rheem heat pump has died, complete rebuild needed, cost of approximately $1,500, apparently due to too much calcium in the water. Why are we not told about how the quality of the water can affect the running of the system? Why is being environmentally friendly so expensive? I am not happy!!

"Unit is leaking all over the place"
One week and the outside unit is leaking all over the place. But what you expect made in Mexico !!!!!!! The biggest mistake of my life!! Rheem do not back up their product. When the unit is broken you need to wait and wait. I have a newborn baby and for the past week its been over 90 degrees in my home. Do you think they care? No! They got their money now with no cares.

"warranty scam"
My 15 month old heat pump was giving me some problems in December the contractor came and changed a board. The following month I got a electric bill $450.00 and the unit would not heat the house I called the service tech and he told me it was to cold. Ac time came turn it on and not thing called a tech and he found the line was not sweat properly lost all refrigerant. The warranty dose not cover refrigerant. Even if it is a bad fitting. So they don't cover any part of it. because no parts need to be replaced So its costing me $500.00 to fix the unit

"RHQA - 1620J (4 Tons of Expenses and little payoff)"
I bought this 4 Ton unit new, and now it is completely shot. It has leaked out all the coolant and now the inside air handler is covered black mold. I only used it only on temps above 35 degree, because did not heat well without the heat stips it temps where below 35 degrees. I only use it in the summer on hot days above 85 degrees. Thousands of dollars and now it is beyond repair. Not a long life for the original cost, I bought the seer 13, for added electrical savings. I am really saving on my electric now because all I have is a fan for 100 degree temp. Thanks, Rheem....

"unhappy in va."
Had new system put in less than 5 years ago. New gas furnace with heat pump, gas to be emergency heat. worked fine until this year and the compressor went out. Had 10 year warranty but labor not included. Installer wants $1200.00 dollars to replace. I think I could replace the unit for that. NOT A HAPPY CAMPER.

"Exceptional product, great service"
Replaced dead builder grade A/C unit in 11 year old two story, 3000 sq foot home (old, single unit was pushed to the limit in summer) Got 4 competitive bids (Trane, Carrier, Goodman, Rheem), installed Rheem RPQL048JEZ Heat Pump and matched it with a new RGRM10EZAJS high efficiency (95%) furnace. Specifically requested new Rheem A coil (instead of Aspen, or off brand) allowing us to take advantage of Rheem's extended 10 year replacement warranty for all components (no extra cost - it pays to read the fine print). Federal Tax rebate ($1500) and local Heat Pump incentive ($600) saved us lots of money. Couldn't be happier. Flawless performance so far. Dramatically lower heating and cooling costs, quiet operation, better "conditioned" air (AprilAire whole house humidifier). Impressive air flow! Bedroom on the 2nd floor with lot's of windows facing west (afternoon summer sun) was a real challenge to cool with old unit. The Rheem can actually chill the room on a 100 degree day. Only hiccup was a buggy new Honeywell Thermostat, but the local installer replaced at no charge.
