I have been installing Payne for the last 3 years. I have never had any call back or complaints front any of my customers. Unfortunately there are many unqualified techs out there. Payne is a good product and affordable. Unqualified techs give this great product a bad reputation.

"Counter Sales"
I am a H.V.A.C. salesman. I have been in the trade for 25 plus years. We took on the Payne line in June of 2011. We have had one bad compress in which the manufacturer replaced the whole unit within a few days. Sometimes that takes other manufacturer weeks. We have only had to warranty two coils. The coils were both in stock and delivered next day by our supplier. We have sold in excess of one hundred systems with very little problems. We are local here in Bay St. Louis Mississippi 39520. You can call with questions at 1-228-469-0477.

Had unit installed in 1999. Never had a problem until today. Live in Florida-90-95 degrees-inside and out-need service man -probably needs freon. Otherwise no other problems. To me,this has been very good considering no repair services in 11 years. Need good inexpensive service tech. in this area!

"very good quailty unit! 15seer."
Installed this unit with friend one year ago, replacing a 9 seer janatrol heat pump. This unit works really well cut bills in half! I readed some negative post here on this site and will say, your unit will only work as good as your A/C Techs expertise. Thanks great product Payne!

"Over 30 Years = Works Great!"
My home came with a Payne heat pump. The home was built in 1979. The unit is still functioning perfectly. In the past 25 years, the heat pump has had two tuneups. It's quiet, efficient, and resists rust. Although the SEER rating is around 6, our monthly bill for our all-electric home of 2200 sq ft is a year-round average of $150. Not bad, considering 7 people use the home. Thanks a lot, Payne!

"Package unit heat pump"
The new Payne package units are quite impressive. I install for a living (10+ years). The reason I like them is they have a tin-plated coil and in Florida that can help coil leak problems. They also are engineered to be serviced and troubleshot...every major component is accessible through one panel that you can remove without interfering with system function. This is a big advantage that few other models have. They also use Copeland scroll compressors which are the top standard.

"Payne is great"
I own an HVAC company in the Washington DC area and I install Paynes on a weekly basis. Just about every issue here is due to poor installation. When you purchase a Payne/Carrier/Bryant unit, the evap coil is the same. They do not switch the box. The color the coil they use the same adp coil. The compressor as well as valves are all the same. Biggest diff is the color. What do you see on tv commercials for Trane and Carrier? I sell alot of Trane. In my opinion, they are the best for the little things they do for the installer, tilting the valves etc. but cost the most due to the rep and high consumer report ratings. You will almost never recoup the energy savings costs. By the time you do, the system will be due for replacement. You rarely if ever see a commercial for Payne which keeps costs down. All of the units have the 10 year warranty now so compressor replacements and other parts should have been done under warranty and typically when you have a unit installed a reputable company will give you a 1 year labor warranty and with the new r410 refrigerant older line sets that are soldered need to be replaced due to the higher pressures and newer line sets as long as sied properly can be flushed with r11 or another flushing agent to remove any residue and oil from the old unit which will prevent any compressor sludging or txv clogging. Payne is a great value esp with these tough economic times. I push Payne to any customer on a budget but if your looking for highest efficiency variable speed top of the line, stick with Trane or Carriers infinity series both are amazing systems.

"Payne Heat Pump"
I have not had any problems out of my Payne/Carrier unit that wasn't my own fault. I have kids and pets so there's alot of dust and pet hair so my filter has to be cleaned weekly to biweekly, and the inside filter/coils had to be cleaned this year. I've also had to clean the drain pipe out yearly because it would get clogged and shut the compressor off until I learned to just pour some bleach water into it monthly to clean out the grime which can lead to mold.

"My Payne works great !!"
Wow....it's all about the installation! I have a payne that was installed in 1999 and have not had one issue at all. That bad smeel when the heat comes on is typical for new units, but seasonally your burning off the dust on the coils....when was the last time you had your ductwork cleaned? Pets? They are Carriers essentailly and are what we call a builders model. Otherwise the value beat the heck out of Carrier which this unit replaced...after it died, but we did get 13 years out of that unit. If you think spending more money will get you a better unit then your being foolish.....the Carriers, Bryants, Rheem they all can have issues but for more cost.....I'll get another Payne in heartbeat and keep my money in the bank.....good luck
