"Get 10 year parts & Labor warranty"
I got a 3 ton elite I think. It has failed a couple times both I think to loss of refrigerant. Another time the tech who sets up the computer board had to come out and replace it and adjust it. So I have had some down time in the summer mostly with the ac. I sprung for the 10 year parts and labor though and will make sure when it comes to a heat pump I do that in the future. The company who sold and installed it for me is on the hook for the labor so they really do bust their butts to get the thing right. Its been running well since spring and its now December 2012 and it transitioned to heat just fine. There have been more problems than I would have liked if I had to cough up the cash to cover the labor. With the warranty when I call they jump, they are a good company and believe in and back the Lennox units they sell. 10 year parts and labor makes it their problem so they have taken the opportunities when my unit breaks to fix it right. I think they finally have it running well. I give all the credit to the hvac company that did the install and is on the hook to repair it when it breaks. They have taken responsibility and I feel pretty good about they way things have gone.

"TROUBLE WITHIN 2 YEARS..."
Installed 2010 and Low pressure Valve gaves up.... refill needed (400$) The fan and motor to be replaced cause vibration... The latter should be on waranty. The valve is not warranted, only the seal. Should have taken the yearly inspection....

"The Lennox Heat Pump Experience"
Well I have owned this specific Lennox Heat Pump or so to say furnace, or air conditioner, for about 2 years and that was the time when I wanted to get rid of it. This specific heat pump, but I'm sure there are other brands that are worse off than this one didn't really function the way it was supposed to. Well first, I will start off with the pros. The main pro from this heat pump was the fact that it served the "name" purpose of the product, it blew hot air which is good for the cold days and also it is a good ranged product for the average consumer. The con of this product I have to say is that it is extremely bad for summer due to the fact it blew "hot" air and also, it costs quite a lot of money to repair. I have spent quite a few dollars replacing the cooling fans on this product due to the fact that the fans would not rotate creating the cold air. I personally sold this brand heat pump and just decided to save money by buying a personal heater and fan so I save on electricity, but also have the portability aspect covered. I personally would not recommend this product, but maybe I had a defective product, but if you're a median ended family than this may be just right for you.

"fin problem."
I was wondering if anyone has the same problem I have. The fins on the coil are falling off, leaving the copper tubing exposed. This is happening all around the bottom. From about 1 foot up. I was told by field tech that it would cost "me" about $600 to repair. Could be more if warrenty has expired, thats only a few months away. I am hoping to get feedback so I can pass it on to them. Other than that, the unit works fine.

"J Armour"
I have a new Lennox heat pump 15 seer series and I am happy with this product. I had a mixed match system with York air handler and Goodman outdoor unit. Cooled ok but never created any heat. I would like to comment on all the negativity towards Lennox. I personally feel like a lot of the problems are caused by products being massed produced in general. If you take the time to look at anything, you will see that "made in Mexico"..."made in Japan"...made in China"...etc. etc. etc. Thus the old saying, "They don't make 'em like they used to!!"

"Elite 11 Heat pump"
My unit just turned 12 years old. I've replaced the reversing valve, compressor cooling fan, and found out about 2 years ago my evaporator had a leak. The technician put leak stop in the system and it worked fine until a solder joint popped on the condenser unit about a year ago. Since fixing that leak, I now have another small leak and am having to add freon about every 3 months. As soon as it warms up, I'm going to be shopping for a new unit. I can say that I did not have the first problem with my unit until it was 8 years old.
