"3ton"
I've had this heat pump about two years and during a routine maintenance the tech found mold growing in the blower. I Did see it, so no problem there but my old Carrier was 20+ years old and never had a mold problem. The reccomendation to correct it was a 600.00 ultra-violet light permanemtly attached. I have had more frequent upper respiratory problems and wonder if the mold ha been the cause. Has anyone else had a mold problem with the heat pump? I was told that this is very common. I contend that it has to do with the design of the heat pump.

"Poor installation. The company that installed the outdoor did so incorrectly"
The hp 26-30 Heat pump was installed in 2004. From the outset the unit was unusually noisy & vibrated. The installation technician checked the unit several times as did the company manager. Both advised that the unit was okay. I sent faxes to the Lennox offices in Dallas Texas, they didn't give me the courtesy of a reply. About 2 years later a neighbor was having a heat pump installed, I spoke with the installation tech about my problem. He checked the outdoor unit. His findings included: The outdoor unit was incorrectly installed, the compressor hadn't been balanced, the feet under the unit hadn't been correctly set up, incorrect sizing of copper tubing between the outdoor unit & indoor unit was used. This 'visiting' technician corrected these defects, the unit is now quieter & doesn't vibrate anymore. Cost to correct this sloppy work $480. Given the lack of response from the Lennox head office I doubt I would install any Lennox products in the future.

"Lennox Elite Air Handler CBX32M & Xp14"
I have had more trouble with CBX32M & Xp14 unit than any other I have owned, plus this unit is "much" newer than the units in any other home I have owned. Though Lennox represented a higher end model but that has not been my experience. Unit has been serviced three times since buying, due to its inability to cool. First time, unit leaking coolant.

"Will Not Last"
I would not have another lennox. Worked great for the first 6 years but after that got the repairs got to be very expensive. The Rheam I had before lasted 15 years and only had to be repaired twice.

"Lennox xp15"
Paid $7000 for my Lennox heat pump. Worked fine for the first 2 years then the heat pump fan motor seized up. Parts are covered, but labor to replace it is over $100 per hour...2 hour minimum. I wish I had seen this web site prior to my purchase.

"Lennox 3T (10 SEER) Heat Pump"
We had our Lennox installed new when we built our house in 1992. It's a total electric heat pump 3t unit. In the 16 years we've had it, we have spent approx. $2,000 in repairs. $1,250 was the biggest expense in 1992 which was the a coil on the inside unit. We've had a couple freon leaks and a couple other parts that have broken and/or wore out. Basically that averages out to be $125.00 a year in annual maintenance in addition to yearly spring & fall tune-ups for preventative maintenance. Our unit will have to be replace by Summer 2010 because the r22 freon is being phased out. Will we buy another Lennox? I'm still on the fence post about that. Have been pricing Carriers because they are approx. $1,000 cheaper for the same base unit and have a local distribution center for parts whereas Lennox has to order parts and overnight them every time something breaks. Which you know that shipping is being passed onto the consumer and is simply in the price of the part(s).

"Lennox"
While it worked ok for most of the time owned, the fact that it died after just 12 years when it cost $7,000 works out to $600 / year to own this system. There was no reduction in heating or cooling cost. Our power company offers a rebate of $500 to install heat pumps. The economics don't work out.

Owned this 4 ton heat pump unit unit for 15 years and have had constant r22 leak problems. Can't find the Leak, difficult to work on, can't get parts locally. Have to add 11 or 12 pounds of r22 every year to keep it running. My dad has a 5 ton Lennox. Same problems and leaks also.
