"Brands don't matter. It's all about the person installing it!"
I hate reading these bad reviews. I'm an hvac/r technician who's been working for a very top rated company for over 25 years. People just don't understand. Goodman is not a piece of junk. You all are complaining because you have had a bad install. 95% of the time when something fails, it is because of a shoddy installation by a guy who does not take pride in his work and/or is not certified and does not know what they are doing. Goodman sales to anyone, either qualified or not. That's why Goodman has a bad reputation. So many hacks put in their equipment, and this is what causes the problems, making the customers blame it on the brand. I sell Trane as my primary brand and Goodman for people who don't want Trane or can't afford Trane. We have never had a problem with both brands and I've toured the Goodman plant in Houston, tx and I was extremely impressed. They take their product quality very seriously and they have the best warranties. Goodman is great equipment. Make sure you find a quality installer any time you need a new unit. People you need to learn the facts.

"Smarten up people"
90% of these bad reviews are because of improperly installed and/or improperly sized systems!!!!!!! People need to learn that having a system installed properly is way more important than the brand. There's no such thing as a brand that's "better" than another. I am a homeowner who had a Goodman ssz14 heat pump installed for my finished basement last year and it has performed flawlessy. Of course more unsatisfied people will come on here and ignore this post and continue to blame Goodman when it was not Goodman's fault. There are way more bad and unqualified techs out there than there are good ones. Is Trane, Carrier, Lennox, Rheem/Ruud, Bryant all better brands? Nope! Every brand has bad reviews and most brands share the same or similar internal components (Such as Goodman/Amana uses Copeland scroll compressors in their newer units, just like Rheem/Ruud, Carrier/Bryant). Some units might be better built than others, but proper intall matters more. I read a bad review of a Goodman packaged unit that the homeowner said "It wasn't because of install. You just place the unit down, connect the ductwork, and then plug it in." Well, is your unit sized properly? Probably not. Bigger systems is not better. whenever you need a new unit installed, choose a very reputable company and ask friends and/or neighbors for recommendations. read the reviews for the company first, then check to see if they are bbb accredited or not! I know that Goodman had quality issues in the past, but they mostly corrected the majority of the problems now (like switching over to all aluminum evaporator coils).

"Keeping Warm in the Winter"
I have only had my heat pump for about six months now. I like how it is very consistant and I have not had many problems with it yet. I purchased it off of ebay because at the time I was very desperate and my old heat pump had just broken and my landlord was out of town at the time for a few weeks. One thing i dislike about it is that it seems to take a while to get working before I notice a difference. I have not yet had to replace my heat pump and I hope to not have to replace it for a while. I would recommend this heat pump to anyone looking to purchase one because it has been very reliable to me thus far. If I know anyone is looking to purchase a heat pump I always recomment they check out the 2.5 Ton Goodman heat pump.

"It does it's job"
I have owned my heat pump for roughly 10 years (I've been in the house that long I think the pump is about 12 years old), it is still running strong and it keeps me and my wife cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It is defiantly dated I'm sure newer models would take less energy to operate, and if it gets left on for too long it will freeze up. The fan motor burnt up a couple of years ago but the cost wasn't too high to replace so we did that, had a repairman out and he had us up and running in a few days. It has been a good heat pump I definitely would recommend the brand, as a matter of fact It is about time for a new one so I plan to look into one of their more energy efficient models.

"Review of Goodman Heat Pump"
I have only owned this heat pump for approximately 8 months (it was purchased and installed October 2010). It functions well, and worked properly through the winter, even in Seattle, where it became very cold. The only problem we've had is the capacity, which is not very great. Meaning, sometimes we find that it does not work after extended use, but this has only happened on a couple of occasion. That being said, it has never had to be repaired. I would recommend this brand and model to a friend as I found it affordable and it works properly. This is my first home owning experience, and we purchased this heat pump as the one that had been there before was far too old to function. However this new Goodman one works great. That being said, I would be open to trying out other heat pumps to compare the experience.

"I am freezing"
I wnt for some time without sufficient cooling.. My system has red valves and runs through my hot water tank. I just found out that the valves have to be set for each season (That is odd for a heat pump.) I found a good reliable service firm who took care of my problem. It now cools adequatly. I am running at close to 71 degrees.I am on my scond compressor. The first was replaced under the warranty. When the unit trips on, it isn't the quietest in the wrold.

"up in the air ...."
ok so bought a new goodman a/c unit everything worked fine cooled house down real quick turns out the control board is bad.The fan would not shut off. Getting a new one shipped to my house now cause it's under warrenty. I was pleasently surprised to see goodman is using copper lines inside the air handler !!! but none the less bought new for 2400 and i'm still with out a/c. Had sears at my house they wanted 7-12 grand to do the same system. Had a goodman at my old trailer it's 20 years old and still works really well. Sticking with goodman ! there are alot of people complaining about goodman . They did at one time make a base model that contractors where using when they where building big developments these systems where not that good. but over all they are making a come back and very happy with the system!

"Confused by reviews"
I bought a Goodman heat pump 9 years 1 month ago. It's worked OK, but it was noisy. Today, the unit was diagnosed with a bad compressor. Have to get it replaced. Luckily, I bought extended warranty (replaces compressor and pays for $400 in labor). Considering getting new complete unit since air exchanger is close to 20 yrs old, and was looking at Goodman reviews. This scares me! My installer says that Goodman (some connection to Amana - I called the company) is a good company and has a bad rep. Now I know why.

"Goodman Heat pump"
Before I got the goodman heat pump I had a Lennox and had it installed by a reputable company. Wasn't the cheapest bid, but supposed to do the best work. Never had nothing but trouble with it. I purchased the goodman to replace the Lennox and installed it myself, The control transformer was bad right out of the box, They replaced it and it worked good for about a year. The transformer went out again. I replace it and installed a fuse on the line side and haven't anymore problems with it. Today a capacitor went out. I replace it and it seems to be working ok. Even with all the problems I have had with it, it's still better then a lennox.
