"Reversing valve & abysmal cust. service"
Installed a brand new goodman system 8/30/10, complete with furnace, coil, heatpump, line set, thermostat, ect. No old components used. Heat pump reversing valve was not functioning properly on install. Installer tapped on valve and it started to function. Started malfunctioning again. I went to goodman website and got a number for a certified installer/repairman. He showed up and after looking it over determined it was reversing valve, but that he wasn't an authorized with goodman. He was several years ago but stopped carrying them do to reliability issues. Called Goodman directly and was informed that they are not going to cover any labor, just the part. Even though it appeared to not be working on install. In short- -Their website isn't up to date with current installers. -Their "customer service" number given out on website is crap. I had to call a wholesaler to actually get a decent number. -When I did finally get in touch with a human they told me that it wasn't their problem and by the way "since you didn't register it within 60 days of install your "warranty" is only good for 5 years". Whatever, I am going to get a 2lb hammer and destroy the piece of junk and buy something else. By the time I pay somebody to come out and jack arround with it I will have about as much cash in it as another one. I'm hacked off.

"Goodman sucks"
I have replaced all major parts of this unit: Compressor, coil, reversing valve, capacitor. Stay away from Goodman. Their customer service also sucks. I am a construction professional.

"Heatpump"
Bought this unit in 07 for just under $3000.00 installed. Worked good for the first year. 2nd thru the 4th year has been a maintance nitemare. Unit would not heat, unit would not cool. 2 thermosatas, 1 transformer, 2 enviromental kits, a re-charge, later and all under 5 years, and it still does not work, Oh did i forget to mention the reverse valve also was replaced!!! Told my dealer that a new unit was in order, nah, will get this fixed. When ???, I would not recomend this company to anybody.

"Goodman Heat Pump"
I have had the unit for 3 years. The first feature of the unit that I liked, and was the main reason I bought it was that it has an environmentally friendly refrigerant. Which means I won't be harming the environment and I would be able to stay comfortable in all seasons. I like that it was inexpensive, but because it was inexpensive that means it was downright cheap. There were a lot of problems keeping the unit to both cool and heat properly. I constantly had to have maintenance work on it, and it would constantly break down. I spent more in maintenance than I did on the pump, so next time I am buying a better one so I save money on forcing it to work. They just could not make it work. One time it would be the coils, other time the valves. I would NOT buy this brand again, nor would I recommend it to a friend. I wish I had done more research before buying this unit.

"Piece of junk"
This was installed in my home when we bought it 6 years ago. Nothing but trouble, always something going wrong. Had to have it serviced every year since we moved in. Electric bills go sky high in the winter because it never heats our home, even set on 75. Now the inside coil is bad, $700 to replace because warranty went out in 5 years- not 10(always read the fine print in the warranty). Each time serviced has been over $200. Looking for new unit now and will NOT buy a Goodman.

"STAY AWAY"
Owned a Goodman heat pump less than a year. Did a good job of cooling but not heating. The fan on the outside unit iced up in the winter during very cold periods when the unit was not running. Then when the amibient outside temperture rose to above 30 dgrees, where the outside unit could efficiently run, the the unit to vibrate violently because of the ice build up on the blades. Called Goodman and they had no solution to the problem, other than only running the unit when the outside temperture is above 40 degree. What's the sense in having a heat pump if it can't be operated in the 30's? Later found out that heating contractors refer to Goodman units as being "price based," which is a nice way of saying they are CHEAP! Made the company come and rip it out. If you live in a climate subject to snow, I would recommend staying away from these units.

"Worthless Junk"
I have striffed to be nice and think of a good word to say, "junk" plus the warranty is not worth the paper it is written on. Have several yearly maintenance calls and now they say the compressor is shorted. Ten year waranty is we will replace it but you need a entire new system for the compressor failed and contaminated the system.
