"No problems after 15 months"
It certainly appears that I'm in the minority on this one. Of course, most people don't search these sites when their system is working properly. My system has been operating for 15 months with no problems. I had a reputable and knowledgeable contractor install my system. I have 3 close friends that have the same system. All working properly with no failures. My region is currently experiencing record setting heat this week. 100+ degrees. Cooling like a champ. My Goodman replaced a 15 year Rheem system. The Rheem was very noisy. My Goodman is very quiet. This is just my 2 cents.

We recently started using the Amana/Goodman units due to the local distributor in Lexington, Ky keeping all parts and most full systems on hand. Being a long time Trane fan, I was skeptical of the quality and durability of Goodman. After several full replacemnets and some great support from Goodman, I can actually say “move over Trane, you are not worth the extra money”! Here in the real word, there are only two compressor manufacturers, two electronic board makers and only a few different motor names in all of the 150 different brands, so the service/support and dependability are the only factors to consider when buying HVAC units. I have heard good and bad of every unit name and can honestly say - it is only 10% unit brand and 90% installation technique and quality! Keep some money for yourself!!!

I have been installing Goodman products for the last 2 years and servicing them for 5. The main problem with Goodman is the installing contractor. These guys who get in to big a hurry and don't do a quality install. Installation is just like anything else in life. If you don't take the time to do it right, you will pay for it down the road. I give references for my installs because I do good, quality work. Quality over quantity. The fastest tech is not always the best.

So far, I've had no problems at all. Goodman cost 25% less than the next lowest cost brand. Mine is an r22 system. I live in AZ and my electric bill is 30% lower since the unit was installed. The house is comfortable year round.

I just replaced my 5 ton heat pump with 2 new 2.5 ton units after 16 years of hard service. These are nice units with scroll compressors and in my opinion very comparable with other major brands. I'm somewhat surprised to read as many negative reviews that are posted here. I am a contractor and have been installing Goodman units for at least 18 years and really can't remember having to warranty anything other than a $10 contractor. I even had one that went trough 2 saltwater baths from hurricanes and had rusted so bad it was being held together by duct tape. It was probably 20+ years old under the old Janitrol name. I have to think that most of these problems derived from poor installation issues.

"first was worst second is great"
When we bought our house, the AC never seemed to match the thermostat. We found out we had a leak which could not be found. Refilled freon and off we went. The next year same problem, so I had a friend recommend a good HVAC guy. He came out and said you paid for this installation? How was I supposed to know? Anyway, he showed me the inside of the compressor which was holding water. He immediately found a leak and said we had to replace. He built up a pedestal for the new unit and the next thing you know we had a thermostat that read what the temperature was inside. The guy came back the next day and said looks good. He even replaced landscaping around the unit. He comes back every year and does a little check up for free. It is all in the installer. Lookwood Heating and Air is the best in southwest Missouri. He even told us that Goodman was a fine brand, just needs to be setup correctly.

"My Goodman Heat pump"
Hello folks! Just want to say that the road I live on, 3 of my neighbors have a Goodman heat pump as do I. I have had mine 2 years and I have had no problems. My friends have had no problems from their Goodman heat pump. I believe that if any heat pump Goodman or any other brand that if installed incorrectly you will have problems. My advise to any one who buys a heat pump no matter the brand get the best service tech you can find to install. Installation makes all the difference in the world. I hope this helps you make an informed decision on buying a heat pump.

"packaged heat pump"
My Goodman packaged heat pump is 16 years old and it has been very good to me. I have replaced three capacitors in the last 5 years and because of that and it's age I am replacing it. Also, the new one is much more efficient and I get a tax rebate. It still runs and cools great but I think it's time. I am going with another Goodman and with luck, it will serve as well as my old one. One more thing, some of you guys state that they are waiting weeks for parts. I don't understand this because of the number of them sold, there are Goodman parts everywhere. If your guy can't get them, change to another service company.

" (Eastern Canada) This is Fantastic"
We've just received our February power bill. $326.68 ($37.58 of that is tax). Either way and however you look at it, this is an amazing product. I'm reading a lot of negative reviews and I can't understand. I have to wonder if it may be an installation issue. Our house is by no means well insulated, built in 1961 when government codes were not near as high. This time last year, I would have been looking at at least $400 in oil if not more and I have all electric water heating now and I am amazed. My neighbors who have had the units installed are equally impressed and I'm about to build a cottage and guaranteed it will have a Goodman Heat Pump. Just cannot understand why I did not learn about this years sooner......... Thanks Mick!! I'm thinking installation and qualified technicians are where the issues are here. There will be issues with any product and as I see it here Goodman seems to be replacing the units/parts but I have yet to come up with an issue. Maybe we will see as our unit ages but this is simply fantastic. Realistically, utility costs at my home are down over 50% with the temperature contsantly set at 70f. Very pleased.

"Old Goodman still chuggin' along"
Our Goodman (Janitrol) 3-ton, 10 seer package unit was installed before we bought the house. We have had two capacitors and a condenser fan motor fail over that time. As a homeowner, I have found the unit easy to repair and reliable. I am now in the process of replacing the system with a higher efficiency unit while the rebate is still going on. I hope I have as much good luck with the new one!
