"several problems with heat pump"
I purchased this unit in 2007 from a local highly reputable contractor, and had his company install it. I did not know what to expect, but the electric bill tripled. 15 months later the unit started to make a very loud squeal, and I had the contractor service it. The freon was low, and the compressor was shot. Goodman did cover the replacement of the compressor but did not cover the 700.00 labor costs. Now 4 years, 9 months later the same situation, and different contractor says the compressor is shot again, and needs to be replaced. They can rip me off once, but I get smart very quickly. It will be replaced with another brand this time. Cannot be any worse!!!!!

"Doug"
Have a house that's less than 5 years old and all 3 units are Goodman. I've had service guys here every year -- sometimes twice a year since the first year. Recall on on some valves, leaking puron, sky-high gas bill because the heat pump was low on puron so unit not working properly. Now the coil on one unit is leaking. All this and the contractor told me they were high quality and high efficiency units when I was deciding what brand to use when building. Had Trane units at previous home and never had a bit of trouble. hvac guy told me these were super efficient, now I see that it's only a 14 seer system. My advice, buy some other brand, any brand.

"one year old piece of crap"
1 year old and reversing valve failed, dumped all the freon. Basically the warranty covered the valve, not the service call on new years day, nor the labor, or the freon. Only good thing I can say about this Goodman Heat Pump is the local scrap metal place will pay the going price for it when you haul it there!

"Read this before buying a Goodman"
In January 2011 I decided to upgrade my hvac from a 3.5 ton 8-seer split unit to a 5-ton 15-seer packaged unit. I found the Goodman 20gph15m which was advertised as a 15-seer packaged heat pump/AC unit that was fairly new on the market. I purchased the unit for about $4,000 and installed it myself. This was easy to install since it only involved running some ducting and connecting power. Well, after only few month of service, the reversing valve popped. After calling Goodman to submit a Warranty claim they were quick to advise me there was no warranty because I installed the unit myself. This was goofy because this unit literally come out of the box and got plugged in. This was in fact a factory defect. I paid my hvac guy $500 to replace the valve and recharge the unit. This was good until a couple months later the new Goodman replacement reversing valve popped again. So yea, I paid another $500 to have it fixed again. This time we coated the new reversing valve with a 45% silver braze for additional strength. I've had no problems with the leakage since. Now for performance. There has been no change to my power bill since upgrading to this 5-ton 15-seer unit. My old 3.5ton 8-seer unit heated and cooled my 2050sqft home just as well (if not better) than this 5-ton 15-seer unit. I even went over board on my return air flow installing 2) 20X25 return registers to insure I had optimum air flow. The a/c cools good however the heat pump blows 65-deg air leaving me to use my heat strips mostly. I do not recommend the Goodman 20GPH15M packaged unit to anyone. After attempting to correct my issues with Goodman with nothing but a hassle, I would not even recommend a Goodman product. I have now spent over $5,000 to upgrade my unit (which my old unit worked fine) only to be dissatisfied with the product and the Goodman manufacture. Beware!

"Goodman/Junk"
After installing a goodman package unit, it leaked all of the freon out the second year. When contacting Goodman I was asked if I took it apart and made sure all of the line were not touching when it was installed, guess when you buy a new car you have to check the brake lines? Leaking again after one more year. Spend your money wisely, do not buy a goodman!

"poor workmanship"
Had it for 5 years -- the indoor coil went bad because it is a defect in the coils and goodman doesn't stand behind the product. Poor customer service. I will tell all my freinds not to buy goodman. I will never buy goodman again -- I'll pay more for a company who stands behind the product

"Garbage Goodman heat pump"
Garbage, garbage,garbage... I hope everyone that is in the market for a heat pump finds this page. Since I am from Iowa I thought Amana would be a good choice since the products were always good. Not so anymore since they sold out to Goodman. My unit is three years old and now whenever the unit switches out from defrost into heat there is a loud screech, sounds like someone playing a kazoo, this can last anywhere from 5 seconds to a few minutes. The contractor came 3 times, initially the unit was making a terrible hammering noise and they said Goodman has a circuit board to install to slow down the compressor kick in time. That helped but appears to be a band aid fix. Doing it now as I type. So far the parts are cheap at 45.00 ea and a switching valve is around that also but labor for that would be in the hundreds which is not covered. Getting ready to hook a chain to it and pull out with the truck. metmech@cfu.net posted my email for all to see!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stay away from this...

"Worthless JUNK"
I am lucky to have a wonderful a/c contractor,Pikes Peak Performance, Perry, Georgia. They have been great! They installed, at my insistence, a Goodman A/C heatpump SSZ140421A* unit. What a terrible mistake! The first year wasn't too bad, but it needs repair almost constantly since then. Goodman hasn't helped much at all, my contractor has done all the repairs out of his pocket with little or no support from Goodman. A class action law suit needs to be started to pay for replacement with a better brand. Do not buy a Goodman unless you like being screwed!

"I call it my JUNKMAN"
Goodman heat pump Model number-GSH130421AD I have never been so disappointed in anything my whole life I have no faith in this unit, or the company I purchased it from. I have been let down to many times to count. How much more do I have to put up with? Ask yourself would you put up with it, I think not. As you can see we were screwed by the manufacturer and the company we purchased it from. Now using a different company to fix it or replace it. We all have been took for a ride, consumers, installers, and contractors by this company. I don't know how they go to sleep at night and I bet they don't use a goodman at there house either.
