"Heat Pump Excellent Option for Apartment Living"
I've had my heat pump for just about a year now and am very satisfied with it. At first, I wasn't aware that the apartment unit I rent used a heat pump. When I initially found out I was unsure as to whether it would adequately heat the apartment. I have since found out that it has no problem heating my 580 square foot apartment, and it does it very inexpensively. I very much like the efficiency of the heat pump. I can't say that there's anything I really dislike about itâ€"as it has met all of my expectations. I have never had to repair either the pump itself or the thermostat interface. I would recommend this product to anyone in similar circumstances. It is ideal for a small apartment in climates that do not sustain long periods of intense cold. Reliability for me has been excellent and the cost reduction is fantastic.

"Blame the contractor not the Brand"
Most of the poor reviews listed here have to do directly with poor install practices and poorly designed duct work. Consumers should use a well respected dealer that they trust and not just the cheapest guy out there who may or may not even be licensed. I have sold several major brands over the last 20 years and have seen these exact same issues with them all. Dirty sock and most of these other problems are directly related to the installation not the unit. Also, Goodman has redesigned there evap coils to cure the leak issues unlike several other name brands.

"Best Heat Pump Ever Bought"
After my last unit failed, I purchased a new heat pump about two months ago. The heat pump that I purchased at Home Depot's website was a Goodman GSZ130241. One favorable feature of this particular unit is that it carries an Energy Star qualification which means it meets all the highest and current energy standards. Apart from that, another feature I like is that this unit is chlorine-free which makes it environmentally friendly. This product is ideal for individuals are interested in superior comfort, quiet operation and environmental friendliness. Even more impressive is the lack of maintenance required to keep this product running. No repair or replacement has been necessary since its acquisition. Since then, I have recommended this exact product to a few friends who are in the market for a similar product. In conclusion, I can't imagine buying any other product that meets this unit's capabilities in terms of price and functionality.

"Goodman 16 Seer Heat Pump"
2-1/2 ton 16seer heat pump unit installed in December 2010 by myself and my neighbor. Quiet running unit compared to my old 2ton Carrier. The old Carrier often ran endless for days never really cooled home even when it was first installed in 1995. This unit easily achieves the set point tempature with 10 - 15 minutes even on the coldest days in late Dec10 and Jan11.

"New System 14 seer 2 ton"
Update***Week one works very well. Temps have been in 20's and have had no issues. I didn't realize how bad my old unit was until I got this one installed and can tell the difference in the heat coming out. Some reviews on here seem to be caused by improper install. If you go under any other brand on this "Furnace Compare" site, you will see that they all rate the same with same issues. I will update as time goes on, but as of right now I am very satisfied.

"Day 1 of NEW System"
Just got a 2 ton Seer 14 installed by professionals, replacing a 20 plus year old Carrier unit that was seer 9. I l,ive in Knoxville TN(thought that might help understand weather conditions). I read many reviews and was told by my install guy the same thing that most of the pros have stated. Each unit uses the same parts just different names. The system is very quiet, standing at window where unit is right underneath and can barely hear it. Inside unit is very quiet as well. It is suppose to get into 20s tonight, so we will see. Day one very satisfied!! Will update as time goes on.

"Is your unit failing...Read this"
Ok, so Ive been reading and reading till im blue in the face about all these compressor failures. I would bet money that INSTALLER did not install a hard start kit as per required by compressor manufacture and its in the user install guide for the unit. But you the home owner would never know this. The hard start kit is necessary for any system that has a TXV valve installed. Furthermore with out the hard start kit added (by the way it does not come with the unit ask goodman why I have no clue) the compressor will fail prematurely. Then you replace it and bam the next one goes out. Id guess that your probably be luck to get 2 years out of the compressor. The reversing vale I can not comment on as I have not ran into one yet that has a bad one. In addition, the unit only is pre-chraged for 15 FT of line set. And its not recommend to reuse existing line set on R410A system, NEW line set should be ran, and any good company should replace the disconnect box, and power whip (that feeds the unit power) Also, there is a metering piston that comes with each unit that unique for the cased coil. If this is not used again you will have equipment failure. In 10 years Ive only seen 1 heat pump unit fail. Only because the home owner chose to install it on an old coil, and did a botched job. Drier blocked, replaced drier unit runs fine. I think in allot of the cases it more the installer. Granted they did have a problem with the evaporators but I really feel the majority of these system failures are to be blamed on the installer. Not the equipment company. I guess you just have to weight what you've know vs. what you read. As in all these cases one will never know how or if the equipment was installed correctly. Any job blow can hook one of these up. Hooking it up and setting it up properly is the key. I would be very curious in all the failure cases that if no hard start kit was installed on the initial install, then personally you should legal and or some recourse on the company that installed it. I dont care who makes the brand scorll / txv system need a hard start kit on it or the compressor will fail. It caused the motor winding to wear out due to a pressure equalization problem, and without the hard start kit, the compressor basically burns it self out because it can not get the require start voltage which in turn is torque to properly start the compressor. Im not defending goodman, Im just stating facts that are lacking on here from the end user, in which they would have no clue about.

"Goodman Equipment"
I am an HVAC contractor in Texas. I have installed a Goodman system in my own home and a few others including my mother's home (all 16 SEER). My mother's electric bills have decreased by 40 to 50% in the summer and the heat pump runs very efficiently in the winter. My house has a 95% var. speed gas furnace heating my 2200 sq. ft. with the higest has bill yet of $115, no joke. Each of the systems that I've installed have been very quiet and efficient. Some say that Goodman is cheap. ? huh, there are several brands that cost less. In my opinion...Equipment failure is 90% installer related and 10% of the time you may have a bad eqq. They are man made you know. Many people think that HVAC is plain and simple; get a big one, connect it, and turn it on. People (including licensed contractors) do it all the time. They often know NOTHING about controls, heat transfer or airflow. All factory condensers come pre-charged and 99% of installers assume the charge is correct for the equipment. wrong. Each system must be run tested and verified technically during operation. Yea, I'm VERY happy with my Goodman system - Probably because I know it is installed correctly and the energy savings are significant.
