"Junk"
My home is seven years old and I have had to have your heating system service (9) times. Everything from replacing blower motor and inside coils to replacing the outside coils twice. I find it hard to believe that your company sells such poor components that they fail on this regular of a basis. Your system has cost me time of work to have it fixed. Large electric bills while running on emergency setting. Discomfort to my family for either lack of heat or cooling. The mental anguish of not knowing the next time it will fail. I would like to know your company’s police when a consumer of your products has this type issues. I would hope to hear back from you on this matter and hopefully find a resolution to my issues without posting my problem on your Facebook page or with the better business bureau.

"Please don't ever buy this piece of junk!"
I had my Goodman heat pump installed in 2010. Since then the compressor has gone out twice and the coil once. Yesterday, something else went out and I'm having to call in another technician. This morning I called Goodman to see if they would assist on the labor and they were extremely rude and not one bit helpful. Please do not ever buy this piece of crap!

"You'll just do not understand"
I am a hvac Tech. for a property management company and work on/repaired multiple brand heat pumps,gas/electric furnaces,& condensing units for over 14 years. Those persons who were told that they had a leak, (unfortunately)aren't aware that the installer made the connections were 90%+ of leaks are found. Proper sizing and install are the key to longevity and efficiency of any brand system so before you go with the lowest bidder or supposed best equipment, check their references. Compressors, condenser/evap. Coils & reversing valves rarely fail when installed correctly.

"I love my Goodman"
My Goodman has been keeping my house very comfortable for the past 2 years since it has been installed. It was installed by a very top rated company who takes pride in their work and never rushes the job. During the install I was talking to one of the techs and he said "Goodman is as good as any other brand if installed and sized properly." That's the problem I see while reading all of these bad reviews. Most technicians out there are unqualified and don't know what they're doing. The result is systems breaking down all the time, making the homeowners blame the problem on the brand. Is a class action law suite gonna go anywhere? Well, of course not! Goodman only makes the cabinet (sides) of the units and the coils. Everything inside the unit (compressor, reversing valve, etc) these components are not made by Goodman! When a compressor dies, it's not Goodman's fault. Goodman was cheap crap back then, but today they are very decent systems. If you step up to the Amana line (which is owned by Goodman), you can't beat the warranties. Techs that don't like Goodman don't know the facts. Every brand out there has to be installed and sized properly. Our new unit is also extremely quiet. Make sure you find a quality installer when you need a new system.

"Very satisfied customer"
I've had this unit for 10 months now and I noticed a difference with overall comfort in my house. My Goodman dszc18036 is matched up with a Goodman gmvm96 modulating gas furnace and I couldn't be any happier with the performance of the new system. The variable speed blower was definitely worth it. I opted to upgrade to a dual fuel system to save on natural gas. This ended up being a superior choice. There's been a huge difference in my utility bills because of the new system. The company that installed it was top rated in my area and the technicians took their time and were very friendly during the whole install. I think these bad reviews have to do with install, not the brand. Choosing a very reputable company is important! My neighbor has a 5 yr old Trane that can't keep the house at a very comfortable temperature. He also said that his unit has broken down 4 times so far. He finally called a reputable company out to look at his unit and the tech said his unit was not installed properly and was grossly oversized. One thing that I really like about Goodman units is that they're assembled here in the usa. I wouldn't mind purchasing another Goodman in the future.

"Smarten up people"
90% of these bad reviews are because of improperly installed and/or improperly sized systems!!!!!!! People need to learn that having a system installed properly is way more important than the brand. There's no such thing as a brand that's "better" than another. I am a homeowner who had a Goodman ssz14 heat pump installed for my finished basement last year and it has performed flawlessy. Of course more unsatisfied people will come on here and ignore this post and continue to blame Goodman when it was not Goodman's fault. There are way more bad and unqualified techs out there than there are good ones. Is Trane, Carrier, Lennox, Rheem/Ruud, Bryant all better brands? Nope! Every brand has bad reviews and most brands share the same or similar internal components (Such as Goodman/Amana uses Copeland scroll compressors in their newer units, just like Rheem/Ruud, Carrier/Bryant). Some units might be better built than others, but proper intall matters more. I read a bad review of a Goodman packaged unit that the homeowner said "It wasn't because of install. You just place the unit down, connect the ductwork, and then plug it in." Well, is your unit sized properly? Probably not. Bigger systems is not better. whenever you need a new unit installed, choose a very reputable company and ask friends and/or neighbors for recommendations. read the reviews for the company first, then check to see if they are bbb accredited or not! I know that Goodman had quality issues in the past, but they mostly corrected the majority of the problems now (like switching over to all aluminum evaporator coils).

"4 reversing valves in two years"
Goodman unit is a piece of junk. A better use of this weight would be as a boat anchor. Although the parts are warranted the cost of the labor and freon is very expensive. We have spent over $2,000 dollars in the last couple of years on freon and labor. The unit was fixed the last time in mid September and has now broke another reversing valve. I will change manufacturers and buy a very long parts and labor warranty.I will never recommend Goodman to anyone for anything.

New compressor, new evaporator coil, new external fan, new internal fan, new capistors for internal. Now it needs a external coil, plus a new electronic board, because it do not go into defrost mode, it,s only 7 years old. It gets serviced ever year, since we,ve had it. Now tell me would you buy this product

"Unbelieveable Failure!"
I had this system installed September '07 for +- $5,000. June of '10, the reversing valve went bad. Technician says: "Oh no, this doesn't look good. We've been having a lot of problems w/ these RV's in the Goodman." Come to find out, not only did it go out, it was also leaking and released most of refrigerant from the unit. Luckily, the part was under warranty, The refrigerant and labor, however, were not. August '10 the unit stops working again. Due to the leak causing low pressure in my system, the compressor is bad from running w/o sufficient coolant pressure. This also makes me think that maybe, just maybe, my low pressure monitor was bad ! What do you think? Luckily, this part was also under warranty. Total bill, w/o parts mind you, $1,000!! So basically, I have the unit totally re-built in 2010. Fast forward to yesterday, unit's not working. I'm told my compressor is locked up. Tech puts on a hard-start unit and the system still will not run. I call my original installer, and although I put new parts in it in 2010, and parts have a 5 year warranty, Goodman will not honor that warranty if the original installation date was in excess of 5 years prior. I think the thing that galls me the most is that neither Goodman nor my original installer will stand by the product. My contractor basically took me for $6,000 and has an "Oh well, you bought it and it's your problem" attitude.
