Read more about GOODMAN Heat Pumps
The GSH13 heat pump is a basic model, with efficiency ratings of 13 SEER and 7.7 HSPF (for cooling and heating, respectively). Different versions of this model have cooling capacities of between 1.5 and 5 tons—that is, between 17,600 BTU/h and 55,500 BTH/h. Heating capacity ranges from 16,800 to 55,500 BTU/h. Noise levels fall between 71 and 77 dB. At this time, the GSH13 seems to be the lowest-rated and least expensive of the heat pumps manufactured by Goodman.
The GSH13 uses R-22 coolant. This is an older kind of coolant, more commonly known by the brand name Freon, that can damage the ozone layer.

"Great unit"
This 2.5 ton 13 seer unit has been trouble free for 4 years! I think the reason for most of the dissatisfaction is with the install and follow- up maintenance... these units all use the same basic parts copeland compressors and other name brand components.. the key is proper installation and knowledgeable techs. I believe Goodman has very relaxed sales policies and will sell to any fly by nite outfit that walks thru the door, That is my opinion, and probably their only fault. their units are Good.

"GSH130361AD, ARUF363616BA"
The unit is now 4 years old and has gone out. The Evaporator coil is leaking. When installed by our local rep here the unit cut off after 3 months service, the drain line was stopped up which caused it to shutdown. When they removed the cover the coil was rusted and I complained about the excessive rust. They told me they would support it for 10 years. No worries they told me. Well now it has gone bad and they gave charged me $215.00 to come out and check it and want another $625.00 to $800.00 labor but the part is covered by warranty, yea right! I didn't get anywhere calling Goodman so don't waste your time. They are even telling me that they never received my registration for the 10 year warranty. This is almost funny. Since they have so many bad reviews I'm sure they didn't get it, if you know what I mean, do yourself a favor do not have one put in. You will be sorry.

"Very Dissatisfied"
We replaced our old unit with this Goodman unit, and have had nothing but problems. The valves have been leaking, the ac guy kept replacing refrigerant because the valves were not available to him. There was a recall I am told, and he was never informed. I would never purchase one of this Heat Pumps from this company again, as I was given no satisfaction. This unit is not even 2 years old.

"I hate the Goodman"
I have had my goodman for over 5 yrs and have had two compressors, two fan motors, one blower board and a leak in the system. I will never buy one again, and this is not from a bad install it is a package unit the unit is a self contain unit no install needed other then put the duct work on and wire it in... I know of several others that have had bad issues with these and dont recommend them to anyone.,.... dont buy beware shop others and put the extra 500 or so to a carrier or trane>....amana is the same as a goodman too. I will stay clear of both

"Unsatisfied with this unit"
This unit has a 10 year warranty on parts, my contractors have been changing parts since day number one, this is a good unit for contractors, because labor charge to replace parts are high. They have changed out the defrost control three times, Motor run capacitor three times and now in the process of replacing the compressor fan. I’m disappointed with the quality of this unit. Maybe we just don’t have pride in what we make in the USA any more. It’s all about the sell and money.

"several problems with heat pump"
I purchased this unit in 2007 from a local highly reputable contractor, and had his company install it. I did not know what to expect, but the electric bill tripled. 15 months later the unit started to make a very loud squeal, and I had the contractor service it. The freon was low, and the compressor was shot. Goodman did cover the replacement of the compressor but did not cover the 700.00 labor costs. Now 4 years, 9 months later the same situation, and different contractor says the compressor is shot again, and needs to be replaced. They can rip me off once, but I get smart very quickly. It will be replaced with another brand this time. Cannot be any worse!!!!!

"I call it my JUNKMAN"
Goodman heat pump Model number-GSH130421AD I have never been so disappointed in anything my whole life I have no faith in this unit, or the company I purchased it from. I have been let down to many times to count. How much more do I have to put up with? Ask yourself would you put up with it, I think not. As you can see we were screwed by the manufacturer and the company we purchased it from. Now using a different company to fix it or replace it. We all have been took for a ride, consumers, installers, and contractors by this company. I don't know how they go to sleep at night and I bet they don't use a goodman at there house either.

"Faulty within 3 years"
We have had to replace the freon in year 3 and year 4. We were not reimbursed for any of this cost from our warranty. The labor was $350 and the freon was $205.57. I understand there may be some expense, but a unit less than 5 years old should not have these major issues. The company did not respond to an email. The company installed the heat pump, said there were several in our community with the same problem. I would never recommend this Goodman GSH130361A again, with such bad warranty coverage.

"Not Happy"
I have two Heat Pumps that are 4 years old. I have had several problems. The current major problem is that the cooling coil is leaking freon on both units! My repair technician says that the coils are covered under warranty and that all that he has installed have had this problem. He has since stopped installing them. The main issue for me is that it's going to cost me $900 labor. I plan to contact the company but based on the reviews, I don't expect them to be very helpful. If they are making defective products, they should pay the labor!

"New Heat pump and furnace"
This heat pump unit keeps breaking down and the parts are covered under warranty but the frequent labor costs and freon charges are soon adding up to the cost of a new unit.

"Bad news ended up great news"
We had a 12 SEER Janitrol 3 1/2 ton compressor blow the thermal overload. (It would not reset). The new heat pump is drawing less current and is significantly quieter. Likewise it cools the house down faster. the air is colder. We love it.

The GSH13 comes with a 5-year limited parts warranty. The warranty only applies in the location where the unit is first installed. It entitles the holder to a replacement for broken parts, but not labor for installing the replacement. The owner must also return the defective component to Goodman. The warranty becomes invalid in the case of disasters (such as floods and fires) and faulty repairs. Goodman will not replace parts for units installed outside of the United States or Canada. Be sure to register your air conditioner with Goodman to claim the standard warranty.
