"Breaks every 12 or 18 months, defective evaporator coil"
Model 50xz-036-311, is 5 years old has had defective evaporator coil replace twice already and now it failed once more in Jul 2010. Hopefully, it will be the same coil that was replaced in July 2009 for $590. Then I know for sure that I am still getting defective replacement parts.

"Carrier Heat Pump"
Our Carrier heat pump was installed 04/2007. Recently, we noticed water pooling at the base of the plentum box. A service tech advised that the unit had a bad txv part, which was covered by Carrier's parts warranty, but labor to replace and materials were not covered. This part failure was allowing the A/C to freeze up, and the water would run off after the A/C thawed out. The service tech advised that he had seen this part failure before especially for units manufactured around 2006 & 2007. Our unit was manufactured 03/2007. We contacted Carrier regarding contribution towards the labor/materials to replace this part, to which Carrier has denied. We will not purchase a Carrier unit again.

"Horrible Equipment, Horrible Cust Service"
5 years and 7 months ago, I bought a new Carrier system with a 10-year compressor warranty. The compressor is shot, with 4 years and 5 months remaining on the warranty. The company that originally installed the unit will charge more than the original unit cost to replace the compressor (which is still under warranty!!). Other companies I called will charge even more. Carrier's customer service rep was rude and dismissive when I called them seeking some kind of help. Will never spend the extra money for a supposed "top-quality" Carrier unit or the extra money for the worthless 10-year warranty again. Might was well buy the cheap unit and plan on replacing it every 5 years--the cost will be the same or cheaper. Very disappointed.

"Carrier Worst company to deal with"
Carrier is one of the worst companies to deal with. Even their local distribution centers have a horrible customer support. I owned 2 Carrier heat pumps and both units had trouble starting 5th year. I'm replacing them with Trane. After doing some research, I came up with the Trane as the best quality heat pump. Note: I'm not an A/C tech. I'm a normal customer. Each A/C techs or sales person say that their brand is best. Do your home work before buying any brand.

"Poor Home Owner......."
Bought new Carrier Heat Pump last summer with the promise of a $1500 tax credit, even if I did not owe any taxes, I am retired living on a fixed income, so do not pay taxes, when I filed my taxes found out you have to owe taxes to use this credit, not what I was given in writing. The Tampa Bay area manager of Carrier told me that they always put a disclaimer on their paperwork so they are not liable for anything in writing. Have a few more weeks to resolve this problem before I go to court, gave the dealer until the end of April 2010.

"Knowing What I Know Now!"
If I had a choice, I would have never chosen Carrier. Unfortunately, when I purchased my home new 6 years ago the system was already installed. Knowing what I know now, purchasing a home that has a Carrier system would definitely be a deal breaker for me!

"Totally Disgusted"
Purchased an Infinity 2.5 ton heat pump not even 3 years ago. Have had multiple parts replaced and now the compressor is shot. The company is not willing to pay the full amount of the labor -$1100. My electric bills have been astronomical. I am considering consulting an attorney to file group litigation. I think this is abominable that a company can do this to so many people. I haven't even finished paying for it yet!

"Carrier 5 ton 15 Seer"
Purchased new in 2002 for high efficiency. Power bills are good but repairs are crazy. The compressor has been replaced twice under warranty - parts covered but labor about $1000/each time. Now, the starting circuit just went & it's going to cost me $500+ to get it repaired. This will be the last time that I'll repair it - Next time it quits, I will replace it with a Trane. I contacted Carrier but they don't want to take any responsibility for their poor quality product.

"Home owner"
I bought a brand new house with a new Carrier heat pump in 2001. After 4 years, I had to replace the motor. After 5 years, I had to replace the coil. My neighbor had to replace his Carrier heat pump last summer. It was only one year older than mine. I do check the filter monthly. Replacement filters cannot be purchased at any local hardware store. They must be ordered. I have tried to contact Carrier but could not get a response. I am hoping to get one more year out of it before I have to buy a new one. It will not be a Carrier.
