"26 Year Old Heat Pump"
My 26 year old heat pump is having a problem today and since it is such an old unit, I decided I'd better start looking since I am probably on borrowed time. After reading some reviews, I decided to post one of my own. Many times people post a review because they are having a problem. I decided to post one since I never did. The Carrier heat pump was installed in my new home in 1987. It has been great!!! I hope the new units are made as well. I will keep reading reviews of other brands but I cannot say anything negative about Carrier. I will probably go with another if it's time.

"How much heat can a heat pump heat?"
We've owned this particular heat pump for 2 years and love it because of it's efficiency. We moved into the house and it had a builder's grade heat pump installed and the unit only lasted about 7 years with various service calls on the back up or resistance heat unit. Because of the numberous service calls we decided to replace the builder's grade unit with a Carrier because of their great reputation when it comes to service and efficiency. We have recommended Carrier to our neighbors who also had builder grade units installed and which are beginning to fail. I believe that not only because of the great reputation Carrier has but also the great reputation their dealer and contractors have our neighbors will switch to Carrier. The unit works great in the southern region. We also had a heat pump when we lived in the north and it was not cost efficient which is where the following was created: How much heat can a heat pump pump, if a heat pump could pump heat?

"Why the Bad Reviews for All Units?"
I don't understand this review site at all. Carrier is a good quality, as are many other heat pump brands, but I can't find one that's got consistent reviews. I was curious about Goodman and saw that they have more unfavorable reviews, but the same is true about Carrier. Are these heat pumps all bad, is it the installation or the mismatching of system to home, or is it the review process? As for my heat pump, I've had a new system installed in a 3-story (with basement) rowhouse for 3 years now. The unit has worked flawlessly - it's a 19 SEER-rated system and I immediately felt the difference since I got rid of a Rheem unit that simply wasn't even designed to pump air up three flights of stairs, let alone that the heat pump was so outdated (almost 20 years old). I like looking at the electric meter and that spinning top simply spun like it wasn't about to take off through the glass enclosure. The cool is comfortable, the heat feels like warmth, and I haven't had an issue so far. It was installed right (by Carroll Fuel) which is something necessary with these systems. Make sure your system matches your home properly and get it installed correctly.

"It's not carrier"
I have been an a/c technician for 24 years, I own a two stage carrier heat pump (4 ton) I have found in many cases that if a problem occurs with your heat pump system it is due to your install contractor. Is your duct work sized properly? Was your line set properly evacuated? In many cases your system is not sized correctly. Quit blaming the manufacture and find a good contractor...it is a fact that most new systems use the same parts including compressors.

"Very Reliable"
I'm not sure what model Carrier heat pump we had--it was on our house (new) when we bought it 17 years ago. We never had one minute's problem with this product. Not a single service call. It finally failed a couple of weeks ago and we replaced it with another brand that was much more expensive (and "hyped"). If it turns out to be even close to as good as the Carrier was, I'll be pleased. We get temperatures of 120 here in the Arizona desert, so it had to be reliable. I'm having second thoughts about getting a different brand--that old Carrier really lasted!

"The Hands Down Best Heat Pump"
I have owned the Carrier Infinity heat pump for 5 years. This is hands down the best heat pump I have ever owned or serviced. I am a professional in the heat pump field and I have seen many brands that simply fall below the standards of acceptability. I love everything about it from its sleek looks to its undisputed warranty and service records. Its high energy efficiency does not bother me either. There is nothing to dislike about this effective, efficient beauty. I have never had to repeir it, but I have received yearly calls from a Carrier representative that wants to know how my unit is doing. I always tell them it is just fine and that is that. I would highly recommend the Carrier model Infinity to any new home buyer or people that are replacing their old, unefficient unit. Carrier has always been a brand I have trusted, and everything they make seems to be fashioned out of some sort of gold that does not tarnish. Thank you Carrier.

"Carrier Does the Job. HVAC Guy Was Right!"
Last spring, I purchased a new home and was disappointed to find out that the old heat pump that came with the house was shot. Usually, I like to get at least 2 opinions on anything home repair related, but we live in a small town. There is only one company here that does HVAC, so I had to trust the guy when he recommended the Carrier brand as the longest-lasting and most efficient heat pump brand on the market. He installed a unit from the "infinity" series, and I have been really happy with it. Aside from a check-up in the fall, the heat pump has ran all winter without needing any repairs. Plus, my bills have been much lower than some of our neighbors! This is a decision I would make again, I'm glad I trusted this HVAC guy! I would definitely recommend this to anybody who is looking for a solid heat pump to withstand cold winters!

Review:
"Overall great heat pump."
We have had this heat pump for a few years now and it works great. We have only had one or two problems with it, but that is how it goes with anything. It has kept us very warm this last winter, as it has been freezing cold. The best thing about this heat pump is how low maintenance it is. The people that installed it have been very good to come check it whenever we call and say something is wrong. It is very quiet and keeps the house warm all winter long. If someone were to ask my opinion I would recommend this brand and model any time. I do not believe that this heat pump will need to be replaced for quite a few years, so for now this is all I can tell you about it. It is a great model and we have had nothing but good things to say about it.

"29 year survivor"
The original carrier heat pump installed in our house 29 years ago finally died. The compress went out and we are in the process of evaluating a replacement unit. The carrier gave us great service for 29 years, it will be difficult to be convinced of a different brand with the life of serivce we experienced.

"Infinity"
I bought the Infinity 20 seer A/C system with electric heat. I live in FL so I dont need the heat much, This system has been the most reliable that I have ever owned. You can not even hear it running until you get very close to it. I have learned a lor from my neighbor though, he purchased same systm from another contractor that did not replace the copper lines that run from the outdoor unit to the indoor unit. This is apparently very important to do. Carrier recommends it but he tried to save some money. Also, his static pressure was double mine. Not sure what that is but was told that over .5 is not good for the compressor. Awesome system! 10yr parts and labor too.
