"Short Life Heat Pumps"
I have had this heat pump since moving into my newly constructed home in 2002. It has given me problems since I moved in. It has leaked Freon, frozen over, heats and cools unevenly. It has ran continuously without shutting off, which is a malfunction of the unit. It also has a limited one year warranty. This means that when it starting malfunctioning I had to come out of pocket and it was very expensive. The repairs were a result of the issues specified above and occurred right after the warranty expired and has continued for 9 years. Also the repairman informed me that the size unit I have is too small for this size home. So I am paying a huge electric bill each month I have it on. I would never recommend Bryant heat put to anyone and hopefully within a year I can either get a Trane unit or move.

"2 1/2 ton 288 series failures"
I'm very unsatisfied with this "Top of the Line " hp. The Bryant dealer I used to install is not to blame. They did a great job of installing the new units and modifying existing ductwork to fit my needs. Their service is top notch. My problem. The unit was installed in Oct 09. Worked great until April 2010. Both 2.5 ton units would not cool. The outdoor units were loud and making a noticeable different sound. Both outdoor units were replaced.Under warranty. Summer and winter 2010 they worked fine. Now at the first sign of warm weather and turning to "cool" I'm having the same problem. They won't cool and the outdoor units make a loud noise. The tech says Bryant want to replace the reversing valves in both units. (WITH WHAT THE SAME TYPES THAT ARE NOT WORKING NOW?) And as far as energy savings? If I leave the units run waiting for them to cool....they don't. But they will spike up your electrical bill!!!! I have complete faith in my dealer but I'm wondering and contemplating what I'm going to have to do to get this settled. I thought I bought the best they could offer but am now feeling I have a lemon. As of now I wouldn't recommend. I'll follow up.

"More Bryant Evolution Trouble"
After investing $22,393.75 in March of 2006 on 3 Bryant Evolution heat pump systems, there has been several problems indicating that these systems are defective. In addition to the earlier August compressor replacement at $700 that I already reported the following has happened. August 8, 2010 $225 Repair Three days later, after replacing the compressor, the capacitor went out on the upstairs unit. November 18, 2010 Replaced defective compressor installed on August 6th. The new one quit working. December 21, 2010 Replaced defective defrost board. The outside unit was frosting so badly that frost was bulging through the wire grate cover on the unit. January 3, 2011 $525 Upstairs compressor quit working, we were without heat. My kind repair company tried to get some restitution from Bryant, but they would not budge since they do not warrant the compressors. It is clear Bryant doesn't warrant these parts for the mere reason that they are unreliable and defective. After spending over $22,000 as an initial investment, having our HVAC systems serviced twice a year only to have parts go bad and dump another 1450.00 into these Bryant Evolution units, that Bryant should offer some restitution and customers should know about the problems with these units before making such a large investment.

"Outside unit noisey"
Two weeks ago I had a Bryant Heat Pump installed at my home. I am very disapointed at the loud moans and groans the outside unit makes when going from one cycle mode to another. I previously had a Trane Heat Pump and was very satisfied with it. I am not looking forward to having to hear the noise the new one makes for the next 15 years if it lasts that long.

"Really disappointed"
We installed a zone system Bryant unit (approx.12- K) using Jackson Heat and Air in 2007. Within 1 month, unit overheated and technician came out and ran water over compressor for a long period to cool it down and said it would be ok , especially since it has a 10 year warranty. Have had to have the technician come out 3 more times when unit shut down in 3 1/2 years and today they are installing a new compressor ( parts free - labor $725.00 plus $80.00 to diagnose the problem on last Friday.) Requested a Trane unit in the beginning - was told that a Bryant "was just as good".

"Huge monthly loss"
I had an old 3.5 ton trane system in the house the finally seen its better days. Keep in mind, this unit is old and inefficient, with my electric kwh usage around 2000-2500 per month in the peak season. Had this new Bryant 5 ton unit put in, supposed to be the most energy efficient, top quality unit, best of everything 16 seer unit. I understand the unit is bigger and will take a little more energy than the old, but the systems efficiency should off set the cost a little. THINK AGAIN! First bill for 2.5 weeks of usage, my energy consumption tripled! We are going on a full months usage this month and at 18 days we have met the kwh usage from last month. Estimate our energy consumption will be 5 times of our old unit. 8000+ kwh usage a month? Come on! And the contractor seems not to be too interested in determining the problem. TVA says it's a real efficient system. For who Donald Trump? Energy saver my a$$! Neighbor has a 5 ton system of a different brand, his energy consumption was a 1/4 of mine.

"Where Can You Get an Answer"
My htg & cooling was installed 2 yrs ago. Durning the first heating cycle my compressor made noise like a gun on rapid fire or a gas engine about to throw a rod. I contacted my dealer/installer (arthz Bryant dealer) and related the issue, a tech was sent out and told me this a completely normal occurance when the unit is in heat mode. Okay, give the professonal benifit of the doubt. I have had heat pumps for the past 30 yrs and never heard one make this kind of noise. I contacted Bryant HQ (email)and related the issue. Bryant emailed back to contact my dealer because they have access to engineering and other tech support and would be able to answer my questions. Sent another message to Bryant saying the dealer does not consider this to be a problem; why should I expect a different answer to same question? All I am trying to find out is this considered normal for my ac/heat pump? You would think the manafacturer could answer that question. Totally pi----. JH

"5 Ton Model 661C Standard Heat"
We bought our log home in 2004. It has Bryant a 5 Ton Model 661C Standard Heat Pump (Cube)--(up to 10 SEER and 8 HSPF). We have not had any problems with it since we moved in. The unti was installed in Aug 1999 and still going strong. Only had to have capacitor changed. Was thinking of getting a new one but not sure what to do yet.

"Bryant -- All hype"
Installed a Bryant evolution 2-stage zone hvac system in winter of 04- 05. Had a lot of problems during the first couple of months getting it to work properly. Compressor went out in 08. Now, in 10, the auto dampers malfunction. The installing company techs seem to have no clue what is going wrong. They now won't even return my calls. No air flow on main floor of house. I won't buy another Bryant product, nor buy from my current dealer.

"Evolution Series Not Happy"
Yesterday the main unit compressor was fixed, today the upstairs (where the bedrooms are) went out. It's 80 degrees, humid and no breeze, For the past four years, I have been satisfied with all three of our Evolution systems which we have serviced twice a year. However, this past week, the beginning of August, the compressor went out on our main unit. It took 3 days to get here then the factory (Bryant) sent the wrong one. Since this happened over a weekend, we were on day 6 with no air and heat advisories. Friday morning, I called to see if a compressor could be rushed to us. They said it would be Monday before we could get it. Bryant wouldn't budge and said that they didn't even know which factory my dealer ordered it from. Pretty much, they didn't want anything to do with it and did not seem interested in keeping a customer who bought 3 of their top of the line systems happy. I will note that between two Air conditioning techs, I was told that if it was installed improperly with any type of moisture in the line that it would cause the compressor to go out early. However, the contractor our builder used was supposedly on of Bryant's approved contractors.
