Armstrong Furnace was founded in 1928 by the Lennox Furnace Co. Today, Armstrong Air is part of Allied Air Enterprises. Armstrong heat pumps are manufactured in South Carolina, using computer-controlled processes for quality control and recycled materials when possible as part of its environmental commitment. Customers can choose from three series of heat pumps, with various levels of efficiency and price.
Armstrong Two-Stage Heat Pumps
Armstrong's top heat pumps provide two different output speeds for maximum comfort. The 4SHP18LT achieves a SEER rating of 18 and an HSPF rating of 9.2. The 4SHP16LT carries a SEER score of 16 and an HSPF rating of 8.5. Both of these units feature a two-stage scroll compressor. The manufacturer says that its trademarked QuietShift technology allows the heat pump to switch to defrost mode more quietly than traditional models, while its MHT proprietary heat transfer system provides maximum heat transfer and efficiency.
Armstrong Single-Stage Heat Pumps
Three heat pumps with single-stage performance are available from this manufacturer. The 4SHP14LE offers a SEER efficiency rating of 14 and an HSPF of 8.5. The 4SHP13LE and the 4HP13L both can achieve a SEER of 13 and an HSPF of 8. All of these models feature a single-stage scroll compressor, the QuietShift technology for quiet operation and MHT technology for the utmost efficiency.
Armstrong R22 System Component
Armstrong offers a single-stage heat pump that can work with existing furnaces or air handlers that use R22 refrigerant, or Freon, a refrigerant no longer used by new systems. The 13HPD can achieve a SEER of 13.
Care and Maintenance of Armstrong Heat Pumps
Armstrong recommends that homeowners have their thermostat mounted on a wall away from doors and windows, saying that setting the thermostat as low as possible can add up to tremendous savings on energy bills. Armstrong also recommends that owners have their ductwork cleaned by a professional on a regular basis.
All Armstrong covered parts and equipment are warranted for five years from the date of installation. Owners must register their unit within 60 days of installation to validate the warranty.
