"Amana Poor Quality"
I purchased two units in 2005 and I've had to have at least one of them repaired every year since. The repairman states that there are known defects in the "a" coil causing a complete failure and Amana will only warranty the failed part and not the loss of the freon, or freight, or service charge etc. Would not buy again. You have been warned!

"AMANA 15 SEER"
We had an Amana 15 SEER Heat Pump system installed in our home in 2010 and I warn everyone not to buy this system. It has been almost 3 years and we've had to call out a technician 3 times. This last time we had called because it was not blowing any cold air. We were told that the Freon was depleted and there was a leak in the coil. The coil replacement is covered under warranty but we have to pay approximately $400 for labor. Extremely displeased. The whole point in getting the "energy efficient" model was to save MONEY....not to spend more and more money. This just seems like a scam if you ask me. We paid $5,700 up front for this thing and now we have to pay hundreds of dollars here and there for things to go right.

"Extremely Unhappy"
Extremely Unhappy We purchased a new Amana heat-pump and are so disappointed. My husband refers to it as the leaf blower that just went on. It is so very, very loud. It also is on constantly so we have our TV and radios extremely loud to hear anything and forget about talking on the phone when it clicks on. Sleep? What is sleep, if you plan to purchase one of these be prepared to be awake all night. I just turn it off and get extra blankets. Extremely unhappy and tired.

"4 Years $3000.00 Labor Cost"
I have always utilized Amana Heat pumps in all my new homes due to their low energy usage. I paid more for the piece of mind knowing it was better quality than a typical builders grade model. Now I have a customer that has paid $2185. in service calls and repair bills! Yes Amana suppled the parts but the customer paid for all the labor. Now she has called me that the compressor failed and under her "Life Time Warranty" it will cost another $900. for labor! It's time for me to part ways with Amana..

"Leaky Exchanger after only 4 years"
After only 4 years the inside exchanger (coil) has a leak. It cost me $75 for the first visit to diagnose, $225 for the second visit to do a "leak search", and today I will have to pay $450 to have the coil replaced! That's $700 for a machine that has only been installed 4 years folks! The servicer showed me the leak and there was quite a bit of rust too. I have read many reviews on here with the same failed part in a short amount of time. Has anyone been able to get Amana to refund some these outragious service costs??

"Follow Up review after 4 years owned"
In July of 2009 I wrote a favorable review after owning my Amana heatpump for approximately 1 year of good use. Since then, I've had to call our servicing company (n & r Sol) about 5 times for various problems. The last visit was about 3 months ago for the a/c not working. The tech told me my unit was missing freon and thought the service seal was leaking a bit and changed it. The tech came again today for the same problem and had to charge it up again. He wants to come back in the Fall and do a coil leak test which means the unit will not be able to work for a week. If (when) he does find the leak it'll take another week to get the part. Although very annoying, it's fine for now because every service call is free for 10 years. I have about 5 1/2 years left and then it's on my nickel. I suppose when I have to start paying for service, I'll get what I originally wanted to buy - a Trane! I was lulled into a false sense of security because of Amana's 10 year warranty and the lifetime compressor warranty. My question is: What's the point in a warranty if it's always breaking down? I keep hoping the damned compressor will go so I'll get the new unit but that probably won't happen. I regret buying the Amana and will not buy again.

"heat pump"
Installed new heat pump when I bought a brand new mobile home for my retired mother. 4 yrs later the evaporator coil had to be replaced due to a leak. Now two yrs later the same problem has occured again. This time the part is under warrantee, but the labor involved to replace it after only 2 yrs is $550. This unit would better serve as a boat anchor than a cooling unit.

"Guaranteed to go out every 5-6 months"
We had a new Amana system installed 4 years ago by a very reputable dealer. They sold us on the lifetime compressor warranty. The first week we had it the 'squirrel cage' had to be replaced due to a missing weight on a blade--- no big deal. But ever since we had reverser valve leaks every 5-6 months with complete loss of refrigerant. We bought the 10 year labor warranty to prevent massive labor costs. The dealer got tired of soldering the fragile reverser valve tubing and so replaced it---still same problems recurred so he decided to replace the entire outdoor unit. We also had to have the expansion valve replaced. Just yesterday we lost refrigerant due to rust on the bottom of the evaporator coils---a 4 year old unit mind you. Never had that happen before. In summary the system is great when it works but goes down about every 5-6 months since we have had it--- won't buy another Amana system.

"Nothing but problems"
Really, can't believe they are still in business. We purchases a complete system in 2008 and every year it breaks and costs about $500- $1000. Just stay away and spend the extra money on a better quality system, you will thank yourself in the long run. Or better yet you will never know how good you have it because the unit will not be a money pit. Just garbage and Amana corporate is useless. The dealer really cannot help you, if you do buy one then get the extended warranty that INCLUDES LABOR. JUST REALLY SUCKS, SO DISAPPOINTED. You will have this in the back of your mind the whole time you own your house. In addition, will be worry about waiting for the next $500 fix.
