"Laughing all the way to the Bank..."
We purchased our Amana system from One Hour heating and Air of Charlotte, nc in Jan 2012. Through our Energy United website we have tracked our Savings. When they stated that this Heatpump ser 16 would save between 25-40% they were not kidding. We are in the Hottest heat of the summer in nc, and this unit is savings us money every day in kw used. The house is cooler, the temp is more even, even the bonus room is cool. It depends on whom you get to install these units. If they know what they are doing...than the Unit will preform correctly... We are very satisfied...We got a great deal, off season Manufacturers special sale. kw used last year in July was 1950 and the house had cool and hot spots, this year for the same time period 1300 kw and the large open concept living room, kitchen, dining room is cool, and comfortable. We have it set at 79 during the day and 78 at night...If a system is old and out dated, and using up energy...and has old FREON>>>get rid of it..bit the bullet and install during the off season for the best pricing..comfort is worth it..

"Worst Investment ever!"
I replaced my old ge High Efficiency ac (Trane) with a Brand new Amana heat pump system. My service person said my old system was due for a change, I would save a ton of money. I read the review from the 20 plus year hvac person... sorry you purchased your system yet? My complaints are simple: 1) my system crashes 2-3 times each year.... 2) every person that comes to my home to work on it doesn't know how to work on the system (ever the Amana recommended people) 3) they want hundreds of dollars for labor (the labor to repair all the great warranty crap is NOT covered! I've spent thousands trying to get this system working... LABOR NOT INCLUDED.... 4) the company who installed the system (this is the only system they sell), did not install the system correctly, and they now refuse to work on it 5) My energy bills have doubled! (I am even on the cheapest plan, since I have this great heat pump) 6) My house will not cool correctly during the summer 7) the whole house air cleaner (Honeywell) connected to the system has now quit 8) They system requires heavy maintainence (must clean outside compressor every 2 weeks... I HATE THIS SYSTEM. I would love my money back. I would install a Trane standard unit (no heat pump). No person in Kansas City has any understanding of how the heat pumps works, how to troubleshoot the system, and the Honeywell thermostat controlling the entire system, takes a computer science degree for installers to understand how the system works.... THIS IS TOO MUCH WORK... PLUS, I CAN"T JUSTIFY THE MONTHLY COSTS TO RUN THE SYSTEM. Amana Corporate could care less... really. I've called so many times....

"DO NOT BUY AMANA"
I have never owned anything this bad. Come on people read the reviews. Amana is not worth the foreign parts its made of. I have had to fix this unit every single year that I have owned it and guess what? It is down again this year. The parts may be under warantly but every year I get a bill for time ranging from 150 to 382. Last year I found a bad wire that was causing my emergency heat to come on during the summer and this year the fan on the outside unit will not come on. Amana equal high profits for the company and empty pockets and hot summer days for the idiots like me that let the contractor talk me into this unit. I will not ever use Amana or any contractor that sells it and I will let everyone on facebook, twitter, myspace, and any other blog or social network I can find know about its poor workman ship and service...I will gladly recant my true dealings with Amana if they every feel the need to right this wrong and refund my money.

"Stay away from this junk!!!!!!!!!"
Okay, straight from the horse's mouth. Goodman and Amana are complete junk!! All made in china junk. Made in Mexico would be an upgrade. Ive got a problem now with an aszc036 that has the factory representative dumbfounded and his solution is to replace the whole unit, Oh yeah this is the second time we've had to replace the heat pump. So we aren't going to sell them anymore. I'm tired of fixing these hopeless things. They don't pay us nearly enough for the time we put into honoring the warranty. Oh, and by the way. I don't believe a satisfied customer would come on here and tell you how wonderful such and so piece of equipment is. The only reason I am on here is because I had a problem with my water heater and wanted to check to see if any one else had the same problem. Out of curiosity I decided to check the Amana/Goodman name. I think it is more likely that most of the "praise posts" I see on here are from company shills doing damage control. Bottom line, stay away from Goodman and Amana. They are okay for simple gas furnace or A/C, but anything more complicated than that is beyond their capability, and a nightmare for us to make work. That being said you'll still have problems with even the simple stuff.

Other ASZ13 Reviews

One owner of an Amana ASZ13 heat pump posted on justanswer.com that, according to the AHRI and the sticker on the side of the unit, his pump has an SEER rating of 14 — but the installer certified the unit as a 15 SEER. He wondered if it was really possible to boost the energy-efficiency in this particular unit with a complementary system. Experts on the forum say that although it is possible to improve the SEER ratings for some systems in this way, this is not one of them.
