"Mr."
I just got a new York furnace, in around a week, the ignite is broken. Even worse, there's gas smell and the technician said it's normal when the furnace stops. Can someone tell me whether it's normal or not to have the gas smell beside the furnace? thanks,

"I Worked There"
Believe me when I tell you it is complete junk. All my old customers have nothing but warranty issues that the factory never honors. The Micro Channel Condensers leak all over the place and cannot be repaired but have to replace the whole coil.So how would you like to buy a new car only to have the motor go out after 300 miles, and they tell you that you have to replace the whole motor .I think most people would not go for that not even the people at York. They would want a new Car. The other furnace companies out there Carrier,Rheem ,Lennox dont have these problems. So do yourself a favor and dont buy a York

"New furnace failed three times in two years, so far"
My wife and I purchased a new home in which a York Affinity 9.m series zoned heating and cooling system had been installed. In a span of less than two-years, the system has failed three times. The first time, after eight months of use, was because of a “defective ignition assembly”. On the second call, about a month later, the “pressure switch assembly” was replaced. The third call was for a failure of the air-conditioning unit. Total repair costs, so far, $465. We talked to the dealer about seeing if York would stand behind their product by extending our warranty because of all of the problems we experienced and they told us to contact the York Customer Service representative. The (rather rude) rep we contacted said that the problems we have been experiencing were “normal” usage/maintenance. End of story. Two service calls within the first nine months of usage for York's top-of-the-line residential HVAC system doesn't seem “normal” to us. How much can extending a (parts only) warranty cost York? With the economy being so great and all, I guess they don't have to worry about customer satisfaction.

These units have nothing but problems. Try Rheem or Carrier instead. 90 percent less problems.

"thanks york"
I have 3 12,000 btu mini split units, and never cool the rooms. The problem is the power of fan motor. I know one guy that worked for a dealer and he told me that this company sold the units knowing this manufacture defect. I would like start a class action lawsuit in court against this company. This is my email address josefelixperez@yahoo.com, all of you interested in this case, send me an email with email address and a brief of your problems with this company.

"york furnace"
To the president of York! Dear Sir: I have owned your furnace for 2 years and have had nothing but problems. Your circuit board has been replaced 5 times since. Also, the unit does not run properly as the fan blower does not blow with any force to heat efficiently. Comfort Air installed the unit and has tried to satisfy me. However, I am not satisfied with your unit and would like a REPLACEMENT. Dan Martin, owner of Comfort Air advised me that he has been in contact with your office and a replacement was forthcoming. I e-mailed your office from inside your booklet (address different from your home address - never received a REPLY!)In the event I do not receive a reply by mail, I intend to contact the bbb. Respectfully Yours, Michael Durso 513 Park Barrington Way, Barrington, IL 60010

Review:
"poor reliability"
Installed 2 furnaces 1999, 120000 and 80000 btu, less than 1 year had to replace the blower. 10 years later, the entire heat exchange looked like swiss cheese with punched out multiple holes. The same happened a year later with the 2nd furnace. York were generous to replace the furnaces at no cost, not including labor.

"York Furnace pain in the A**"
I have a new York furnace, Model ym8m080b12mp11, that hasn’t run properly since install about 6 months ago. The installing company doesn’t seem to know what’s going on. They’ve blamed everything from the thermostat to the prefan, (whatever that is,) to a “vacuum modulator" and still it doesn’t work right. It will randomly short cycle for up to an hour and never get into a “normal” run, i.e. the main fan comes on and blows heat till the house is at temp. At last test, it ran for 60 seconds then shut down for 3 seconds and did this 25 times before it started to run normally. After the temp reached the set point, it will run a sporadic version of short cycling for up to an hour before it finally shuts down. Example of shut-down: (time in seconds) 60 on, 7 off, 30 on, 7 off, 15 on, 7 off, 15 on, 20 off, 3 on, 45 off, 2 on, 75 off, 10 on, and then off. On two separate occassions, the thing has refused to start at all. Both required a tech. This unit is supposed to be saving me money on my utility bill but has in fact raised it by over 10 percent. I’ve replaced all the bulbs in my house with compact fluorescents and still my electric bill was up 12%. This has to be due to the furnace.

"Garbage"
Believe me when I tell you that York is total garbage. The condenser coil is not copper like all the rest of the furnace companies, and leaks like a sieve. I also work for this company and quit due to the constant warranty problems that keep getting worst and worst. They are making the product cheaper and cheaper to increase profits and don't give a damn about the consumer. Just look at the fine print in the 10year parts and labor contract. Do yourself a favor and invest in anything else other than York.
