I have installed and repaired all brands. They all have issues. My new York yp9c100 is a 98%er. also installed complete a/c unit. Two years gone but not one problem. We sometimes blame the equipment, but in fact, some contractors have not a clue on proper installation practices. In addition, to troubleshoot a poor installation is hard. My advice, (30 years as a contractor-retired) is do not go with lowest price. You have to live with this system for many years. Ask other people about your so-called expert contractor. Not the ones he gives you. If no one in your area knows him, there’s a reason for that.

I have a York furnace and air conditioner in my home and it has been a fine system. It has worked very well from the beginning. All my neighbors have York and seem to be happy as well.

I am a new owner of a York 97.7% eff furnace and was honestly shocked at the amount of negative complaints. I have done a lot of research before I purchased and found York to be the highest in eff and offers a system to keep you comfortable. In all honesty you need to have regular maintainence with any manufacturers products to keep them running like new. You wouldnt drive your car 10,000 miles without changing the oil would you? A furnace or air conditioner is just like a car they need attention. All of the brands will have similar componants that come from the same manufacturers the differences are the looks of the units, efficiencies, and performance. York is one of the oldest in the industry and has a proven track record.

Recently had a York yp9 variable speed modulating gas 98% eff furnace installed in my house I can barely hear the furnace running. I have read some of the complaints about others it could be the company that had installed it. These guys were very proffesional clean up after themselves. Someone wrote about the radiator thing that would be your coil which provides your ac in the summer warm air running accross does cause condensation and needs to be clean but I read its like that for all manufacturers. My neighbor is very envious of what I have and may want one of his own now.

I read all comments, some bad comments reposted and some good comments checked "Very Unsatified" so I leave mine for correction purpose. My impression: 1. 1st gen HE may have problem. Some parts may not be very good and repair support not enough. 2. half of the problem due to poor installer, or wrong duct, etc. 3. most problems happend when customer trust installer, of little knowledge on how to hand problems 4. York parts and customer service would be improved. Now York is absolutely leader in He furnace, network no good. Carrier is behind average in 95% HE, network very good. I followed York link to local installer yet its web simply list Carrier.

"York LX Furnace and A/C"
We just purchased a new York Furnace and a/c ( Lx Series) 2-stage with Variable Speed motor to save energy. It was not the least expensive model but middle of the road. I am so happy we purchased this furnace, so quiet and contractor was very professional. My neighbour paid almost 800.00 more for his Amana furnace and it sounds like a jet engine compared to mine.

I built this house and had a York gas furnace and central air installed. In 22 years only one part broke which I think was a capacitor which starts the a/c condensor. I only changed the filter about 6 or 7 times during all that time. The system still throws out cold air and great heat. I'm having it replaced only for the reason I think it's time to upgrade to something much more efficient. This system was before seer ratings. I sure hope a new system lasts and performs as well as this system did.

My York has been in my house for 29 years with no problems I am looking to up grade and York is on the top of my list!
