"Expensive but Nice"
We just replaced our old system with a York, contractor recommended their 98 model. It's really quiet and we've had no problems. It was more than we expected but was the cheapest quote we received out of three.

"20 years old and still going"
This is a 60k btu Fraser Johnston made by York. It is 20 years old. In its day it was the bmw of furnaces at 90% eff. When the burners light off it is pretty loud. The igniter glow plug went at 15 years and this past summer the main blower motor went. I replaced both itms at minimail cost. It is still going.

"Dual Fuel York"
Backup to our heat pump, quiet and reliable and our energy bill is half what it used to be. Ask about dual fuel, we love it, only use furnace below freezing. Furnace is super efficient at 98 afue, whatever that means.

"I fixed my York Furnace myself, simple!"
I hated my York furnace because it so many issues but mainly would fail to start and give me a code for a faulty pressure switch or a rollover switch constantly. I checked everything I was told it could be. I know that if I shut off the main switch and turn it back on the furnace started so I decided on my own to replace the digital thermostat with an old mechanical rotary one and guess what, no more problem. The furnace works great and now gives good heat!

"great furnace"
I put this furnace in my rental property, based on the high efficiency and promise that the modulating technology would help heat the house (in two units) evenly. It has done that brilliantly. The cold spots upstairs have been massively reduced, the first winter bill has been far less than last year, and it is also by far the quietest furnace I have ever seen. One of these is going in my primary residence next year.

Chose this unit over Trane and Lennox based on dealer recommendation, works great and we saved a bunch on gas last winter.

"Affinity 8.S Furnace Review"
I bought this furnace brand new last winter (Winter of 2009), mainly because I wanted to convert my commercial building/apartment from LP to gas. I also wanted to save money on my month-to-month heating costs with a higher efficiency model. The first thing I could tell about this furnace was how much quieter it was upstairs and downstairs than my previous model (an older Affinity, don't remember the model number). The heat was noticeably warm and free of any odors. It operated at such an efficiency that I was very impressed at how few and far between I could hear it kick on; it seemed to be running roughly half as often as my older Affinity! This was reflected immediately in the bills I began receiving that winter. My place is very large and relatively expensive to heat. My month-to-month bills went from an average of $250-$275 a month down to never being more than $150. The furnace was a pretty expensive one-time cost that I will be paying off for a little while, but I got some help from the government for making this improvement and in another winter it will have almost paid for itself. I would recommend this furnace very highly to anyone in the market for a new one.

"Best furnace I have ever owned in 50 years"
I have never been more comfortable. This York furnace runs longer and slower eliminating any airflow noise, drafts and has greatly reduced my utility bills being 97% efficient. Apparently, the furnace matches its capacity to heat loss of the house. All I know is I have never been more comfortable and the unit has operated over 2 years without a flaw.

"Good Equipment"
Most of the complaints are caused by poor installation and not product quality. Excessive noise, having to remove screws to access a filter or being charged $400 for a furnace that is available with a 10 year parts warranty are all examples. Most contractors make their job as easy as possible so they don't offer extended warranties which in the case of York is a factory warranty. I suggest you ask questions about the contractors professionalism in effect insurance, training and technical experience. Stay away from the one man business. We are very happy with York products as we have been using Affinity for years and will put them against any other unit. If you want to pay for a name then maybe Trane is for you.
