"Service Tech"
I Have been a service Tech for over 20 years and have been installing Rheem Equipment on the side for 25 years and I would not install any other brand. I have read most of the negative feedback on here and I can almost determine that most of the problems are due to lack of experience of the installer or they are just plain lazy! I found several people talking about limits being replaced ,Ignitors being changed often, blowers coming on when they want or units just starting and shutting off. It is all caused by your installer in which they oversized the unit or undersized the duct. 95%of the problems I fix are related to installation error. Before installing new equipment have the contractor perform a heat load calculation on your home this will eliminate almost all off your problems. Oh and if your wondering how many of my installs failed, only the installs I did on friday when I was younger. Just saying. Good luck .

"Problems"
Mr. John Jones, this is Jon Moon. Your problem is a flame sensor. It is a rod that has one wire going to it that sits in front of the flame on the left side of the furnace. This a common problem with all furnaces. To fix this problem is to pull it out and take a pocket knife and clean it. Do not rub it hard and doo not use sand paper. James M. I dont know what problem you are having????? When there are problems you need to find someone else to come and fix them. Just guessing, the furance is over sized or not istalled right. A Huff. If your furnace is 30 years old then you should be very happy. It's time for a new one. Just remember you should go with a 95% or above. In 2014 all brands are going to stop making 80% furnace thanks to the EPA!!!!!! S Phillips What is the problem???? Need to find a new service man!!!! joe Jones Dont call your home warranty people!!!! Call the people that installed it. If Weatherking ( Rheem) fins out that companies are installing there stuff and won't take care of problems when it is brand new they will not allow them to buy any more. Kevin All furnaces start up cold tell the blower starts going full speed and it shuts down the burners at temp and then the furnace gets down to 160 and shuts of then blower. If it takes to long to get warm the the people that installed it needs to come back out and check the gas pressure in the gas valve. B.A There is no way your furnace lasted only 2 years for one and 2 your furnace has a 10 year parts warranty. All in all peole, just like I said before -- Get a new serviceman. Also remember that any company can buy a weatherking. Buy a Rheem! You have to be a good company to buy Rheem Call me at 816-878-7887 if any ?'s

"Weatherking-love it"
I'am an hvac company owner and installer. I installed the top of the line Weatherking Select 90 plus furnace with variable speed blower and modulating gas valve 12 years ago and I love it. I have not had one problem with it. Funny thing I choose it because it was the smallest unit I could find. Needed room to get an air conditioning coil on top of it. It is only 34" tall. Furnace is in garage in split level home. It is quiet and keeps the home warm. Unfortuately I can no longer get them in my area. It get my top recommendation.

"The Quality of My Furnace"
I have owned my furnace since I purchased my house in August, 2009. This house was brand new when I purchased it, so the furnace was brand new as well. My furnace is in the basement of my home and has to heat the basement, main level and my upstairs. I like my furnace because it is very quiet and reliable. I also like it because it is very energy efficient; for the amount of space it has to heat, my winter bill is never too high. There is also an air exchange attached to it as well that is very nice. I do not have any reason to dislike my furnace. I have never had any issues with it either. That could be related to the fact it is brand new. I would definitely recommend this furnace to a friend if they needed to look into a new furnace. I would also buy this brand again.

"You People are Crazy"
Hi! My name is Jon, owner and president of AAA Aire Heating and Cooling LLC in Kansas City and I have a few answers to all the problems that you people are having. One, if you have replaced a motor in it twice, try changing the blower capacitor. Your board will never go bad due to a blower motor. Also, if you have been getting water into the bottom of the furnace that is why it keeps going bad. You always have to replace the capacitor when you change a blower motor, a fan motor in a condensing unit, replacing a contractor in a condensing unit or a vent motor. Find a new service man! Alot of people don't know what a Weather King funace is. Weather King is a Rheem funace. They also make Ruud, Sure Comfort and Remmington. Im a Sure Comfort Dealer and i've never have one problem. G Ham, if you back up heat is not coming on, you have a bad t-stat or outdoor t-stat. Have a Honeywell 8000 touchscreen with outdoor sensor installed. If you dont have at lease 8 ran to the t-stat, you have to install a Honeywell IAQ or a wireless system. It has nothing to do with you furance. Find a new Service man! Also your heat pump should be set to shut off at 30 the max, I like 35. Find a new service man! D. Butera, Don't put in a carbide ignitor. Replace it with a nitride igniter in. It will Last Longer. Get a new service man! D. Miller, If you have a 90% funace or above you have a 10 year warranty. That is if you service man registered your funace when it was installed. All 90% and above funaces and any R-410A equipment has to be registered online to have a 10 year warranty. If you don't do this the equipment will only have a 5 year warranty Find a new service man! Charlie C., the furnace was wired up wrong! Find a new service man! Janet Schminkey, The parts that you have had to replace, are parts the just go bad on all funaces. All the parts that are in your funace is the same that is in mine and everyone's furnace. If they say that its not they are a lier. There are only a few different companies that make this stuff like, Honeywell, Johnson Controls and White Rogers. THEY ARE MAN MADE. Find a new service man! If you people have been listining you would find a common problem to most of these problems. FIND A NEW SERVICE MAN! That has a big part on if you stay cool in the summer or warm in the winter. If you have any ?'s about this please call. 816-878-7887 and I will be glad to speak with you.

Review:
"Weatherking installer"
I am a heating and air conditioning contractor. I have a Weatherking furnace in my own house. Weatherkings are made by Rheem manufacturing and we have installed maybe 400-500 units over the last 15 years, many in new homes. Now the old style drum models we never thought much of, in fact many were recalled, but I've been very impressed and satisfied with the newer models (wgra) which have a tubular heat exchanger. As stated we've been putting that model in for 10+ years. Other than standard problems which any furnace has...clogged drains...burned out igniters...or an occasional defective pressure switch, we've felt like the proverbial Maytag repairman. We have had no tubular heat exhanger go bad, we've had maybe 2 venter motor wheels out of that number of furnaces. You've got to remember that these reviews are sometimes written by dissatisfied customers, and out of thousands of any brand there are going to be some. Some dealers of other makes like to put down other makes also. In honesty I'd have to say there are a lot of well made units out there...many of the failures have been weeded out by now. You can get a bad anything. You can get a bad installation. You can get a dealer who doesn't back what he sells. But we've had good luck with this brand, too good. We've had little service, and do have our stickers on them. As for the Air conditioning, most compressors are made by only a few manufacturers, as are most ac fan motors. ac units are pretty simple, if yours isn't working it could be because of the installation (air bypassing the inside coil, improper charge of freon etc.)Most of the service on these we've had is from rodents chewing off the exterior low voltage wiring, or people hitting a coolant line with a weed whacker. An hvac dealer.

Review:
"Weatherking Furnaces (90%)"
I have 2 Weatherking 90% furnaces that I installed myself. ok I am not supposed to be qualified but I am an electrical engineer and a very good craftsmen and I got tired of all the troubles I had with my previous furnaces. For the record I have 4 furnaces in my home/shop. 3 in house and 1 in shop. Because of inept installers and bs service companies I simply have maintained all of them myself for past 10 years. I read and research things and learn before I jump in. I known and understand how they work which is more than I can say for the last 2 service guys who came here. All of my furances are 60k btu. Started with 4 Bryant units and have now replaced 2 of them with Weatherking. Bryant units were unreliable partly by design and mainly by poor installation by a "qualified" installer/contractor. They also were 90% units. The main problem that plagues all these so-called "high tech" furnaces is that installers don't want to go to school every year to keep up with the technology so they tend to steer their customers away from any model they don't already know about. Most of my previous furnace problems stemmed from poor installation. 90% furnaces are recuperating type which means that liquid will be condensed out of the flue gases and caught in a tray and drained off to a drain near the furnace. If the furnace is NOT installed exactly level then the liquid can drip off into places like circuit boards or burners and ruin perfectly good items. My "professionally installed" furnaces were off by more than 1/2" from side to side when compared to a level resting on top flat surfaces. This makes for noisy cabinets, premature bearing failures on motors, rubbing of fans against housings and liquid condensate (which is slightly acidic in these furnaces) running off into places it should NOT go. I installed my first Weatherking 60K BTU 90% unit 2 years ago and followed the instructions TO THE LETTER and made sure it was absolutely level with no stresses applied to the cabinet by any crooked gas pipe connections or faulty dusctwork. I also made sure the PVC piping to the air in/out was emptied into the correct outside pressure zones rather than just any old way that was convenient. Guess what - the furnace is quiet as a mouse with not a hint of trouble. After a year I bought another one just like it and installed it too in the same fashion. Not a hint of trouble from it yet and I do check them. My previous furnaces and the 2 remaining furnaces in my house have plastic inducer fan motor blades that fail regularly. They and the motor must be replaced together for $250 component cost. This for a $25 motor and $5 fan blade. Rip off. My point is that the Weatherking has metal parts in those areas that caused me the most trouble. I wish it didn't have the hot surface igniter but I plan on swapping that out for the solid state ignitor anyway so knew that when I bought it. In truth it is very easy to change it out and spares can be purchased on ebay for a few bucks rather than replaced by "qualified service" at 5 times the actual price. I am NOT recommending that everyone service their own furnace but just suggesting that there are TONS of con artists out there masquerading as service techs and installers. Find a really GOOD one - do your OWN research and asked pointed questions. Buy a small level and put it on top flat surface of your furnace when he says he is done and don't pay him unless it is darn near perfect. Run it and make sure it is quiet. Assume he is an idiot until he proves otherwise and if he DOES prove otherwise - never let anyone but HIM work on your furnace. GOOD service people are worth their weight in gold but like gold they are hard to find.

"Lee Stevens owner of 24/7 HVAC, Greenland, NH"
For an affordable furnace, the Weather King unit has performed outstandingly. The customer has also sent a thank you card in appreciation of how cool in the summer and warm in the winter they have been. This is one of the brands I use when giving Quotes for new or swap systems. The components fit together well and is an easy installation for the contractor.
