"Company owner"
After reading the reviews on Trane furnaces I felt a need to respond. I am a Trane Comfort Specialist Dealer and have been for some time. I have been a Trane dealer since 1993. It is my experience that the large majority of equipment failures are not equipment related but installation and service related. I have found that 95% of all Trane equipment failures that my company sees is due to improper installation. To address some of the comments I have read. My company has not replaced one (1) flame sensor on any Trane furnace we have installed and serviced in the past 15 years. We have not had one (1) case of multiple control board failures in the same time frame and we have not had any heat exchanger failures. We, however, have repaired many Trane systems that have had failures in these areas and, as I have said, in 95% of the cases the failures have been caused by improper installation or maintenance. Do not confuse Trane equipment problems with poor installation and service. If the equipment was installed with out a manual "j" heat load or manual "d" ducting design, it is more than likely not sized properly or has inadequate air flow for proper operation and you will most probably have problems. Do not confuse high cost companies with Trane product problems. You are the one that chose the company that is working on your equipment, if they are over charging this is not the equipment problem. If the company cannot repair your equipment maybe you should look at the company not the equipment. Maybe it is a maintenance issue causing the problem with your equipment. Many customers do not see the need for routine maintenance on your heating and air conditioning systems. Your hvac systems have more yearly operational time that your car or lawn mower yet you routinely have both of these items serviced. But, again, the large majority of Trane equipment failures is caused by improper equipment sizing, duct work, electrical service (grounding), venting, etc. My experience is, over the past 20 years that I have been installing Trane equipment, Trane equipment is a well built, reliable and state of the art residential product. By the way my customer satisfaction rating of Trane equipment my company has installed is 98% with a 100% referral rating. If the Trane product was a bad product there would be no way to achieve these numbers. It is not the product it is the company installing or servicing the product.

"Running Smoothly Since 1988"
Since 1988 our Trane xe-60 home heater has been running wonderfully. I decided to visit this website because we now have to replace a gas valve on the unit which will cost $400 with installation. The unit has only needed very minor repairs in the past -- both times it was a themocoupler that I was able to easily replace. I thought today maybe we will spend the $1,400 to have a new Goodman Unit installed. My concern is that the new heating units can't be compared with the units made 20 years ago as almost new units are made in China and like the appliances made in China are of very poor quality. It's as though the new stuff is slapped together by slave labor that has no interest in quality but putting together as many units as quickly as possible and this may very well be the problem. My Trane xe-60 heater has been running smoothly for years. I recommend it!

"Super furnace"
I have now had my Trane high efficiency furnace for (only) 6 months, but I am delighted with it. It is unbelievably quiet, even in the basement! The installation was quick and clean.

"Pretty rockin furnace"
I got a Trane xe80 installed in October of 1998 and to this date have never had a single issue at all. I regularly change the air filter and that's it. It has never broken down not even once. We have yet to have a repair man actually have his hands inside the furnace. For 14 years to date this has been the best buy for a furnace. It is paired with a 1972 Sears central air conditioner and both seem to make a great pair. Condsidering my gas bill is only 60 dollars a month on equalized payments that's great for a 1200 square foot house. When my Trane does need replacing, I would definitely get another Trane. I wanted to write this review because I always see negative reviews. But this one is positive and I recommend it.

"Be choosy in the selection of the contractor too"
As a consumer it is your responsibility to choose the contractor wisely. Relying on a name for the furnace is unwise the furnace is just a box of parts. 90% of all warranty failures are due to deficiencies in the installation. Ask the sales person about the experience of your installer and if they are paid on piece work. Don't fall victim to pressure and remember the bigger the company the more they have to charge you so to keep cost down they pay there installers by the piece installed so the installers rush through the jobs to make more money. In this scinerio real good qualified installers make less than the hacks so they leave and come to companies like mine accredited professionals that pay our installers 20+ % more than the market every job done the best it can be done. This cost a little more don't scrimp do your research buy an extended warranty and do business with a company that has a money back guarantee. We don't charge any labor to our service agreement customers ever companies like mine are out there. Look for best of winners check Angie's list and the bbb.

"Poor reviews"
You people that are giving bad reviews are completely stupid. 98% of the time when something on your system goes wrong, It's because of these hack job a/c guys that don't know how to put it in correctly. Sure blame Trane, but you are just showing your ignorance. Maybe hire someone worth a crap to install your unit and not just hire the cheapest contractor. You pay for what you get. Deal with it.

"Trane furnaces are #1"
As a qualified dealer, installer, and service provider I can honestly say Trane is the best. If you have had a bad experiences with your furnace (Trane or any other brand). It's most likely due to a poor installation by your installer. Most problems are caused from improper ductwork sizing or a over sized furnaces. You get what you pay for, if your shopping for the cheapest price then expect to be one of these people leaving a bad review on a good furnace.

"New Trane XV90 furnace installed"
New Trane XV90 furnace installed three years ago. Never an issues. Quite, does its job w/o needing any attention or bring attention to itself. Love it. Make sure you find the right installer. Ours found issues with return duct sizing that shortened the life of our prior furnace(carrier) and reduced its efficiency. They also setup the furnace to have the return duct attached to the bottom of the furnace rather than the side, told me this was more efficient for the blower.

"Savings! cha-ching"
Lived with a lemon furnace by Carrier for 6 years and finally got fed up and took the dive. Wish I would of made the change sooner. It's night and day. I no longer have to turn the tv up to listen to the game when the furnace kicks on. All I hear is the slight sound of air moving through the vents. The way it should be! Our gas bill dropped over $80 per month(30%) and with the tax credit the install will pay for itself in less than 5 years! I should of made this change sooner!
