We purchased our Trane in 2003 and have had 3 major service calls, Feb 07 (circuit board), June 08 (AC went) and Dec 09 (motor gone). I would not recommend a Trane to my worst enemy. It is a piece of junk and they should not be allowed to install them in another house. There has to be a law somewhere that protects the consumer from being ripped off like this.

"Trane XE80"
Trane xe80 is one expensive furnace! It has a "hot surface direct ignition device", which means there is no pilot light that you can light manually. a service call to diagnose why the gas burners do not light costs approx. $100. If the gas sensor device is the problem, then that will cost an additional $520! Ridiculous, considering the furnace is only 10 years old!

"CAN YOU SAY "WARRANTY"?"
To all those complaining about spending $800-$1000 dollars the first year or two on repairs, where is your warranty? You would not have paid for any repairs. Please do not be so misleading.

"XV90 first hiccup in 4.5 years"
Had an installer who worked for a local contractor give me a deal on this unit and a Goodman outdoor unit. Both have worked without a hitch. The guy who was told that you can't use a programmable thermostat with the xv90 has either been greatly lied to or the specs have greatly changed. Since it is dual stage and has a variable speed fan, it works even better with a programmable thermostat. Been using one since day installed. Looking now for a new gas valve as mine seems to have developed a problem with the pilot regulator pressure. This part is made by White-Rodgers, but will only ding Trane once since I probably won't get any warranty service on this covered part.

"Great Product"
I installed my Trane Furnace and hundred of others. I found it the most reliable ever. As a installer and a user, I find 99% of any failure is due to incorrect installation. Taking a corvette on a moto track, wow it fell apart, it must be junk! Get a real professional to install it properly for your application and it will give you great life.

"LEMON !!!"
Trane xl 80 mid efficiency, two stage. Researched the heck out of furnaces and found Trane makes Sears house brand...so sounded great. One week after installation, the mother board went down. No problem, part but not service call covered. Cost :90 bucks. Ten months later, flame sensor misbehaving; service call 90 bucks again. Few more months of summer and the appliance works perfectly! Oh right, no need to turn on cause its summer! Last year, first cold snap...furnace will not ignite beyond initial stage one blow ( 3 minutes) so we call service tech for yet another 90 bucks. April, some cheap made in Mexico wire snaps costing me another 90 buck service call and 20 dollars in parts. Just last night, return from movie to cold house...wife curses...oldest son kicks furnace. I call Trane local rep...no response. I call all Trane service reps...no answer. Inside temp is now 52 degrees; outside temp is 12 degrees. Not very pleased and would suggest Trane should be more responsive to customer inquiries as all my calls have been met with stoney silence. Nice work TRANE. I look forward to telling everyone I know what a poor product you make.

"Simply the Best"
I purchased a new Trane 96.6 efficient dual stage furnace, and a 17ceer single stage air conditioner. Also, got the clean effects. This equip, emt has been the best. Have not had any problems since the initial install. I do not know what all your problems are, but feel sorry. Was installed by licensed professionals who are trained every year in new technology.

Built a new home in 2003 & this trane furnace has been a lemon since day one, I have replaced almost all the parts one by one and its still not working, I have gone through 8-9 igniters, the circuit board and other parts, this thing is putting me in the poor house. never buy a trane its junk!! I want the piece of crap at the curb where it belongs. Either its blowing cold air or the fan just runs and runs until I shut the breaker off "Its real hard to start a trane"!!!
