"Overall Pretty Solid Unit"
Installed when house was built in 2000, one repair to the igniter. Which as a desiel mechanic, it is the same thing as a glow plug on a truck - and those go out as well - so I guess you could say that is expected

"3 Months old and "faulty"..and I'm supposed to pay to have it changed!!!"
We had a Ruud installed in October and moved into our house in January. The furnace was loud, sounded like a deisel truck in the basement. I complained to the installer but he denied anything was wrong. Finally I called the distributor and the Rep. They came and looked at the furnace and sure enough, it's defective. But instead of exchanging this practically brand new furnace out for us, the Ruud is only willing to give ua a labour credit of $300. towards the $2000. labour bill to remove it and then install another furnace. The installer and the distributor wont return my calls and I am now calling the national customer service line, waiting for a call back. Take my advice, get a big name company to do your install and buy a trane. I wish I did.

"Beware"
It would have been cheaper to burn dollar bills than fixing this thing. It is only 6 years old and I've put in over $1000 into it. And of course it always fails on a weekend.

"Confusion"
Most of the negative reviews on here have nothing to do with the manufacturer at all. Come on, problems in a rental place. How many land lords have tenants that change there filter every month, let alone keep a clean house. Dirt, dust, and moisture are the cause of most furnace service issues. A lot of contractor issues also. Did they do a load calculation to size the furnace correctly or did they just match it to the one you had? Is your duct correctly sized? Over temping is a furnace killer. I like the one that could not get the contractor to call back after bringing a factory representative out and that will never buy a Ruud again. Why is that Ruud's fault sounds like if he had to get a representative, he doesn't know what he is doing. If you all want some real advice, research your contractors. An improperly installed furnace will always have problems. Any brand. That's a guarantee.

"Underachiever"
I have owned this Ruud 90 plus furnace for approximately 10+ years. I have had service on this unit approximately every other year. As I have heard before problems seem to be minimal nevertheless it keeps it from functioning properly. I live in the upper mid west where the temperature drastically changes from day to day and I cross my fingers when I have to use this unit for heat. I would not recommend this Ruud FURN/Achiever 90 Plus unit.

"Do not buy this crap"
I have had to have this unit repaired no less than 5 times. Now is atleast 6th time. One should think that a new unit would last at least 5 years without breaking down, but this unit failed atleast 4 times the first 5 years. I would never recomend a ruud or a rheem as they are the same products with different name plates.

"RUUD 90 Plus is a Terrible product"
I have two RUUD 90 Plus units installed in a rental property and they both break down nearly every year for the past 14 years that they have been installed. Most times it is an easy fix but they are very temperamental. I am currently replacing the blower motor on one of the units right now and the other one required attention this morning as well. I have had a Weil-McLain installed in my home for nearly 30 years and I have never had a problem.

"Rudd STUCKS"
I was talked into buying a Rudd furnace by Centerpoint Energy. They installed it, and in the 8 years I have had it, it has broken down and needed repair 8 times. I will never ever buy anything Rudd again in my life.

Review:
"DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY"
I bought an 95% Achiever two stage. An hour after the unit was newly installed it stopped working. I have contacted Ruud after sales support and am really disappointed in their response and follow up of my issues. In fact after I talked to the Ruud/Rheem rep he has never responded back. How is that for customer service . ? I was so disenchanted I had my contractor bring the Ruud technical rep and nothing has changed. This unit is loud! And I agree with another reviewed on the lack of warmth. I am not so sure this product is working the way it should; meaning I have a lemon or it is just a defective/sub- standard product in general. What a sad state for such a big investment. I thought I did my homework, but alas. Please take advantage of this wonderful forum and read, read the reviews.
