"zero customer service"
I have one point to make - if you buy a rheem you will get no, NO, customer service - ever! They will not take calls and will insist you contact an independant service person - thereby ensuring you pay for service calls. Worst company I have ever dealt with!

"Am I on an airplane??"
My mother and I have inherited my grandparents home and have been living in it for the past year. When I grew up here, I remember the old Sears furnace they had. It was rather large, but it did a great job, plus the thing lasted for over 30 years. Back in the early 2000's, the blower motor went and it had to be replaced. They purchased a Rheem Criterion. I couldn't believe how much smaller it was compared to the old furnace, that I actually didn't think it would heat the house properly. As a matter of fact, it does a good job and has been relatively maintenance free for nearly 10 years. The only complaint I have is the noise. It is so loud! This is an old Chicago bungalow, so it's located in the basement. I never remember hearing the old furnace except for the air quietly humming through the duct work. Now, I feel like every time the thing kicks on, we're preparing for take off! When the ignitor starts, the fan motor, which is separate from the blower motor and I assume pulls the exaust out through the chimney, it literally sounds like a jet engine starting up. Then, when the burners ignite, there is a loud click that seems to echo, through the house. Are all newer furnaces this noisy?

"Rebate ripoff"
I recently purchased a new 95% high efficiency Rheem furnace which is listed as having a $200 rebate. The problem I'm having is that Rheem will not honor the rebate because it was not purchased from one of their authorized dealers. I live more than 75 miles from the nearest qualified dealer and it is thus unrealistic to have had them install and then service the furnace. I have tried to deal with the Rheem representatives to no avail.Class action?

"What the heck?"
I had three companies quoted me a Trane to replace my old Rheem unit which is 27 yrs old (and had no prior problems). When I looked at customer reviews, the Trane did not bode well. When I looked at Rheem reviews, it seems no one like Rheem as well. So, what the heck? Which should I go for? Sounds like the quality across the board has gone down.

"Rheem Gas Frunace"
Purchased RGDD-series 70 Plus with 20yr warranty on the heat exchanger. Only repair was from problem in installation, until this last winter. Unit will not heat. Since it is nearly 20 yrs old, and our A/c has been leaking freon (Janitrol), we are considering switching to a heat pump. The furnace heated the house well, but the price of natural gas has tripled in the last year. My only complaint (aside for no longer heating.) is the noise of the fan. Very noisy.

"Rheem 2 stage modulating"
Just had this unit installed so its too early to calculate any lp gas savings but I can tell you its quite a bit louder than my original 20+ year old furnace. My old unit didn't seem to come on as often. It was a 200k btu single stage. After a heat loss calibration I only needed 91k. So I went with a 125 btu. Added a humidifier and a Hepa filter. Also seems to have more condensation coming from pvc stack
