" Circuit board went out on 8 year old unit."
Purchased a Rheem Prestige 90 Plus Modulating gas furnace on October 2004. It has been serviced twice a year since that time. Now the circuit board went out and will be a $550 cost to me and of course the 5 year parts warranty has expired. I was always unhappy with the loud noise of the furnace, but have learned to live with it. And of course I saw the other reviews about the noise after my purchase. Would I purchase another Rheem. Clear answer of NO!

"I am more then happy"
I owned this furnace since 1993. The only thing that went wrong was the ignitor which cost 40 bucks to replace. This was a reliable furnace and my only complaint was that it's is noisy.

"Another problem!"
I've had the circuit board and igniter replaced within the last 3 years and now I am going to have to do it again. Very unhappy with the quality of this furnace.

"I got Rheemed"
Bought a house that was 7 years old. Within a week, the Rheem furnace quit working on a Friday night. I thought it was because my wife did not know how to set the programmable thermostat in our new house. The problem was with the furnace itself. I called my father, who is an HVAC repairman. He walked me through a troubleshooting procedure and we managed to identify a bad hot surface ignitor. After one cold night, I found one locally the next day, and payed dearly for it. Installed it myself and was back in business. A year later, the costly replacement part failed again in the exact same spot. This time, I bought two so I have a spare (and got them at a big discount this time). Neighbors have had the exact same problem and have had repair bills close to $400 for this. Did I mention that I am on my third circuit board? The first time the board went out, I was out of town. Apparently, the ac condenser kept running while the rest of the air handler quit. As a result, the compressor overheated and was destroyed. So a small circuit board took out my whole ac unit. I am going to replace this furnace and ac before it fails again.

"CriterionII Plus"
Have had this unit for 7 years, newly installed with an addition to the house. It is very loud so that I have to turn up the music considerably in my room when the furnace is on. This winter the unit will ignite and then stop right away but the blower fan continues to blow cold air into the rooms for a long time. brrrrr. Have cleaned the filters to no avail. Have any suggestions? I thought loud was bad enough. Would not suggest a Rheem to anyone else.

"Rheem funace having issues after 12 months"
My Rheem Classic 90 93.5% efficiency furnace ran for about 3 to 4 months last winter (2007) and now in December 2008 I am having a strange problem where the burners sputter and die and the furnace continues to blow for a while. If I let the furnace sit for a day and then fire it up again, it will warm the house from ~40 deg f up to 70 deg F. Eventually either that day or within a week, the problem with the burners blowing themselves out recurs. It also makes a lot of noise in general, not quiet at all, lots of squeaking and strange noises. I'm probably going to call a pro soon to look at it. Considering my previous furnace was over 40 years old and still ran fine, just with very high cost, I'm shocked that this unit is already having problems. Looking at all the negative reviews online of Rheem furnace owners, I'd have to say I wouldn't buy one again.

"My furnace"
I have a Rheem Criterion ii Plus 2 lxe 80% gas furnace installed 7-31- 2002. It has been worked on twice. The first time it would try to light and couldn’t. They found a wiring harness whose pins needed to be cleaned and put back on and then it was fine. The next time a year later the flame sensor went out. My tech came out and only charged me his trip charge and replaced it for me. He said that they usually last around five years. It never occurred to me to take it out and clean it but I have heard that some people do. Other than that I like the furnace.
