"Broke down numerous times."
We had the Rheem Classic 90 Plus Model rgrc installed in 2009. In 3.5 years we had a tech come out 3 times. Overall, its cost us close to $1,300 dollars in labor costs to fix the broken down components. While parts are under warranty labor is not. Very very unhappy consumer!!!

"Furnace failed--part very expensive"
My furnace came with the house when I bought it 4 years ago, it has run (its also air condition) very well until this year and I had to put a new circuit board into it in April--$550--(that screws the budget when you're unemployed--big-time. It's now Dec 23,2012 and so far I've been waiting nearly 2 weeks for it to be fixed. I think I've now got a case of a lousy repair-guy---he's given me one excuse after another, but the best one is that he initially said it would be a few days for them to overnight and replace the board we just put in that's under warranty-- that was two weeks ago. Trouble is that now I'm out $550--it's freezing in the house, and I'm not really sure how to resolve this. I can't buy a new furnace right now, and I'm not sure how I can trust another furnace man. The furnace is older--1992 I think, but has run wonderfully until this year. But its sure not running now! By the way....its 28 degrees here in Ohio today!! Brrrrrrr

"Don't buy"
I just purchased a Rheem "Super Quiet 80" for my townhouse. It is so loud it sounds like a jet engine. Saw the same complaints on another site. Rheem just didn't care and so me, like many others, are stuck with this garbage product. So sad that companies advertise falsely and don't stand behind their own product. Buy something else.

"Horrible."
It's once again a balmy 58 degrees in my house. I have had this stupid Rheem furnace for 6 years, and it only worked well the first month. I've had the installers out multiple times each year, and nothing. The damn thing just works when it feels like it -- it starts up, the fan goes, the pilot light fires up, and then the actual furnace part decides to shut down. horrible. I think it's ridiculous that a freaking $2500+ furnace hasn't even lasted this long. Again, I say - HORRIBLE.

"You CAN stop a Rheem"
Unit purchased 12/01 and about a year after warranty expired, pressure switch began to malfunction. Installer thought it might be due to water back-up from condensation line and cleaned it twice. Third time I told him to replace the switch. This was about four or less years ago. Now the same thing is happening again. Waiting on installer to check it out, but probably the same thing. Ironically, he had just checked the system two weeks ago. Have a Tempstar gas-pack for another section of house that is 18 years and never had any problems whatsoever with it.

"Always something"
Always seem to need to repair something. Thankgoodness for the maintenace onctract otherwise I'd be out major bucks. Its still not free, I put on average $200 per years into replairts, Its comming off warrenty so I'm worried about what lies in the future. Problems include: Ignitors(twice), Blower Motor, wiring(never got a clear explanation), thermocouple, flame issues(uneven), leaking condensor, capacitor on A/C, coolant leak, compressor motor pulling too many amps(they arnlt sure why - other than to tell me it probably failing)...ugghh enough!

"Seeking the truth"
This is the best by far the worse quality you could buy for dollar per dollar on any brand of equiptment. I am a licensed contractor here in Ohio. To me Rheem relies on brand and not qulaity, More problems w/Rheem than any other brand and I've seen them all.

"Super Quiet 80"
It's the worst snowstorm of the season and my furnace has just quit...a repeat of last year's worst storm. Interested in sitting in the cold hoping a service person will drive 25 miles to help you? This is an expensive home that the former owner must have shopped for a deal so they could say it the mechanicals were new. I HOPE it is the ignitor again...we will be replacing this 4 year old mess as soon as humanly possible.

"Furnace mayhem"
I have 2 Rheem furnaces in my home and it is amazing the difference between the two. The newest one has had a new ignitor every year since I got this piece of crap. The heat that comes from it is nil compared to the other one. The bad part is, they are both the same exact furnace.
