"Rheem funace having issues after 12 months"
My Rheem Classic 90 93.5% efficiency furnace ran for about 3 to 4 months last winter (2007) and now in December 2008 I am having a strange problem where the burners sputter and die and the furnace continues to blow for a while. If I let the furnace sit for a day and then fire it up again, it will warm the house from ~40 deg f up to 70 deg F. Eventually either that day or within a week, the problem with the burners blowing themselves out recurs. It also makes a lot of noise in general, not quiet at all, lots of squeaking and strange noises. I'm probably going to call a pro soon to look at it. Considering my previous furnace was over 40 years old and still ran fine, just with very high cost, I'm shocked that this unit is already having problems. Looking at all the negative reviews online of Rheem furnace owners, I'd have to say I wouldn't buy one again.

"Rheem 2 stage modulating"
Just had this unit installed so its too early to calculate any lp gas savings but I can tell you its quite a bit louder than my original 20+ year old furnace. My old unit didn't seem to come on as often. It was a 200k btu single stage. After a heat loss calibration I only needed 91k. So I went with a 125 btu. Added a humidifier and a Hepa filter. Also seems to have more condensation coming from pvc stack

"mystery diagnosis"
Mid July 2008 we started having problems with our Rheem 3 ton heating and air unit. We were told that lighting hit the control panel on the unit. The panel has been replaced twice, and as of today August 18, 2008 the unit is not cooling our residence. The company that installed the unit has tried to insure us that the unit does not need replacing. We have paid for this unit in full and have not received the satisfaction that we expect. At this point we do not know what to do next.

"Outstanding machines!"
The modulating, variable speed Contour by Rheem is quite a machine! I had several quotes for the Rheem as did my neighbor, I went with the contractor that was highest priced and got a perfect install, and my neighbor went for the lowest bid and got screwed. These machines are not a finished product out of the box, they are finished by the contractor installing them. Install them properly and they do all that they're supposed to. My contour heats my house like no other typical furnace could!

"My furnace"
I have a Rheem Criterion ii Plus 2 lxe 80% gas furnace installed 7-31- 2002. It has been worked on twice. The first time it would try to light and couldn’t. They found a wiring harness whose pins needed to be cleaned and put back on and then it was fine. The next time a year later the flame sensor went out. My tech came out and only charged me his trip charge and replaced it for me. He said that they usually last around five years. It never occurred to me to take it out and clean it but I have heard that some people do. Other than that I like the furnace.

"Rheem 80+"
Had the unit for 23 years still working fine. I did have some issue with the electronic ignition in the second year. I replaced the crappy Robert- Shaw electronics with Honeywell. I think at the time the upgrade cost me about $100 bucks from the ww Grainger catalogue. I am replacing it with a new Rheem rgfd07 modulating furnace and rand024 air conditioner with R-22.(don't like the new freon) The salesman said the new unit has all Honeywell controls.

Review:
We bought a new house with 2 furnaces both Rheem. The main floor furnace had a small motor go right away - within a couple of months due to the electrical motor being out of balance. The one on the top floor we have had nothing but problems with - it is the quiet 80 but sounds more like a freight train and now the bearings are going on the blower motor causing a chirping and a $300 repair bill. Do not buy these furnaces, as my experience with them is very poor.

Very solid unit. It has lasted 26 years. Of course its not the quietest or most efficient furnace out there but lasting for 26 years is impressive.

Review:
Our Rheem 80Plus came with our home when we purchased it 12 years ago. No problems with it during that time. Now it is 20 years old and a motor sound like it is dieing. Will probably replace with another Rheem if the efficiency and price is right.
