"Stay away from these units!"
Had a new Janitrol installed in '92, had so many problems with it I got(for a $550. charge) a replacement installed in late '94. It has been nothing but problems..and this one they won't replace. It was supposed to be there top of the line model but it is lucky if it lights then when it does it pulsates and vibrates like a truck on the road to long. Had several contractors out and even the gas company tested the meter and regulators{after Janitrol tried to say that was the problem} and it is all the furnace, the ppl who love theres have old ones, they were good a long time ago. Now they are Goodman and junk!

I have had a lot of trouble with the flame sensor becoming dirty or corroded, which causes the furnace to fail to ignite. I have to clean the sensor 2-3 times each winter. Usually during the coldest days, of course.

Review:
The unit is about 10 years old; it was in the house when I bought it. At the time of purchase, the inspector said the burner was cycling too often. He further said that Janitrol/Goodmans have problems with cracking their heat exchangers. The company will replace the heat exchanger, but it's up to me to pay for labor. At that point, it's probably just as cheap to replace the whole unit. Every contractor who has looked at the unit agrees (without being prompted). Apparently, the Janitrol/Goodman name is pretty tarnished in the industry.
