"Mark Beber"
I am writing in response to those that spent 800.00 for a 150.00 part, and have had servicemen out 8 times and 4 times. You have an installation problem, and you have a service tech ripping you off. Its not the Heil Furnace. Almost all furnaces have the same parts, made by the same manufacturers. If not installed right, it doesnt work right. Its like having a Honda car, and letting the guys at GM put it together. It wont be installed right, and thus it's not going to work right. Installation is the key.

"To Hell with Heil"
Great at heating a closet. Not so great at heating a huge house.

"fan broke after 4 years"
We purchased the furnace/ac unit in 2004 for over $6,000. Has run well up until this past year. Called the installer to have a noise checked out in the furnace. The installer did not have a copy of the original invoice but called the company and found the part was under warranty. We did find our copy which stated it was under 5 yr parts and labor. So we got it fixed for free. The new part has 1 year warranty. I would hope that a high end brand like Heil would have a better unit. It appears that it has a few problems from reading the rest of the consumer reports. It is a lot of money to pay for something that will break in 5 years. In our circumstance, I was pleased that the installer was quick to respond and fix the unti, but not that they didn't keep a copy of our invoice. I am pleased that the Heil company did cover the warranty.

"HEIL lacks in stock replacement parts"
My furnace recently went out (2nd time in six years). The blower inducer motor failed. When the tech looked at the heat exchanger he noted a small crack and said it needed to be replaced as well (the part is under warrenty but the labor costs are still high). Turns out Heil is out of heat exchangers (for my unit) and won't be manufacturing any until January. It's hard to trust a company that can't keep spare furnace parts on hand in the winter.

After twelve years the inducer blower unit went.Prices from $300 to almost $400 U.S.The motor is fine but the plastic fan inside has hairline cracks around the motor shaft, causing it to wobble.I also replaced the control board under warranty after 2 years.
