"Comfort Consultant"
Have you ever heard the saying "sounds like a broken record". Well, everyone with problems with Goodman products pay attention. If you hire "frank, the furnace guy" then you deserve what you get. 3 things to consider when purchasing any new system. 1) are they licensed & insured? 2) are they gonna pull a permit? and 3) are the installers factory certified? So before you cry the blues about your "so-called inferior products" do your homework on your contractors because any legal co. will stand behind their work and products!

I have been in the heat and air business for 25 years. I started my own business about 7 years ago... I don't care if you have the most expensive piece of equipment. If it's not installed properly, it will fail prematurely... Duct sizing, purging and evacuating the line set is soooooo important to the performance of any machine with mechanical parts.

Replaced my old Carrier unit 2 years ago with a Goodman 3.5 ton unit. Runs great. Have had no problems with it at all. When the a/c comes on, it feels like someone opened a refrigerator door and the cool air blows across your feet. My bills are a little lower but I'm a whole lot more comfortable temp wise. Would highly recommend Goodman.

"Installer / service man"
I have been an installer/service man for over 10 years. I have seen problems with every HVAC-R manufacturer. 99% of the problems with furnaces new to 5 years old are installation problems. I have seen plenty of hack installs, even from guys in my company! I don't care what make of a furnace or air conditioner you have put in your house. If it is not sized for your house and duct work or installed properly, you will have nothing but problems. As for all the complaints of circuit boards that I have seen on this site, the 80% downflow furnaces need to have double wall (b-vent) pipe ran from the inducer motor. I've seen most contractors (my guys included) that would only run single wall pipe inside the furnace. I have seen the heat burn out many circuit boards wire harnesses and pressure switches. Any furnace that I have serviced that was less than 5 years old (Goodman, Trane, Carrier, Lennox, Ruud, etc) was and installation or lack of maintenance issue.

"Service Manager"
I replaced a Patriot fuel oil furnace with a gmv950704cxb lp Furnace, and ssz160481 Heat Pump. I could have put in Carrier because I work for an authorized dealer but chose Goodman because of ease of installation, product history, features, and faith in the product. Not only have I saved on my seasonal fuel and electric costs but I gained comfort too. This system is by far the best investment that I have made in the last 20 years.

"poor installers great system"
I am shocked at some reviews. I have a 140 year old home and run two units. One for the living areas and one for the bedrooms. In 12 years, I have replaced the ignitors 2 times and the high pressure start up switch for the A/C on one pump. Ignitors can be bought at any shop for about 30 bucks. I clean/vacuum out the dust and oil the motor bearings as maintenance yearly. These units run great.

"Goodman GMV95 furnace"
I installed this Goodman GMV95 115k BTU furnace myself. Cost of furnace, AC coil 5 ton, Skuttle filter kit, concentric vent kit, all miscellaneous install parts PVC, fittings black pipe etc., total cost $2300.00. Removal of old unit and installation of a new one took me one weekend. Took out the permits and had fire, electric and plumbing inspectors out and passed with flying colors. Then had my HVAC contractor come out and do the first fire up. He went over a complete check list and fired it up, then he went through another check list return air temp, supply air temp, stack temp 1st stage and 2nd stage, amp draw, vent temp, thermostat settings and more. Works like a dream. I could not be happier. Can't beat the price or warranty, energy efficient, quiet and easy to install. I did my homework before I started and it paid off.

"HVAC Installer/Servicer"
I am an HVAC contractor and have installed many Goodman furnaces, including in my own homes. They are a very good product with tremendous value. Being very familiar with many brands, all of them have troubles based not as much on quality of product but more on proper installation and maintenance. Furnaces today are much more fragile. The technology allowing greater efficiency creates a greater opportunity for failures. Most failures occur from the above mentioned - lack of tune-ups and filter changing. Unfortunately, Goodman Manufacturing takes the hit on its reputation, as any other when compared under similar circumstances. The biggest trouble is that when people shop, they like the lowest price. You don't see the value you lose until the trouble begins, and then find out the installation was done poorly. Units installed by reputable contractors and maintained regularly last as long or longer than higher priced equipment used and installed similarly. Buyer beware. This is a major investment. Low price usually defeats value which in the longer term cost you less.
