Overview of the TM9
The Fraser-Johnston TM9 gas furnace series is available in four models that have several similar characteristics. The TM9M is a 4-speed PSC multi-position gas furnace with an AFUE rating of 97 percent and 60 to 120 MBH input. The TM9V, an Energy Star-rated 2-stage multi-position furnace, has a 96 percent AFUE rating and 40 to 120 MBH input. The TM9T (2-stage) and TM9X (single-stage) have 96 percent and 95.5 percent AFUE ratings, respectively, and input ranging from 60 to 120 MBH.
According to the manufacturer, the TM9 furnace products are compact units appropriate for residential installation in tight quarters such as alcoves, closets, basements, attics, etc., yet they also can be used in commercial buildings. Installation can be completed with direct ventilation through a sidewall or the roof if proper materials are used. While they are designed for upflow or horizontal applications, downflow positioning is possible. All models are propane convertible, and have induced combustion and hot surface ignition. TM9 furnaces employ an aluminized tubular heat exchanger and have high-level self-diagnostics.

Other TM9 Reviews
Although there are few posts about these specific units on other discussion boards, most consumers who have experience with this manufacturer consider the product line “fine,” as one poster on hvac-talk.com puts it.
Another technician on this forum describes the products as being much like those produced by Fraser-Johnston’s sister companies, including Luxaire, Coleman and York; each operate as subsidiaries of Johnson Controls.
