"92% efficient 2 -stage variable speed blower"
I bought Ducane 2 stage furnace in 2005, it has a variable speed blower and 92% efficient, I keep air filters clean and I never had a service issue. The draft inducer motor is a little noisy when it comes on but the furnace performs properly.

"Ducane Furnace ... NO NO NO!"
The Ducane Furnace in my home town sounds like a jet taking off when it lights up. You have to turn on the television on the second floor Skype high to hear it. Don't even try to listen to it in the basement...

"Beware of late night fire hazards"
We built an addition to our house in 2000. It is now March 2013 and after a late night fire from the failed heat exchanger and failed override switch, we are now having to replace the entire 12 year old unit because it is burned. Even though the heat exchanger has a warranty of 25 years. If we had not been home last night, it would have burned the structure of my new addition and who knows what else. I have contacted Consumer Services at Allied Air Enterprises who basically says we owe you nothing. Even though since the installation of the unit we have had gas leaks and other parts to have fixed along the way. Now we have to replace a burned out unit!!

"Worst Heater Ever"
I had a 93% High Efficiency heater installed in Nov. of 2010. Last year I spent a small fortune on service because the inducer blower kept filling up with water and shutting it down. My service tech says that this should never happen. Guess what, it does. I am having the same problem this year. If I add the cost of service, this heater is not saving me anything as promised.

"Good easy to install furance"
I needed to replaced my 25 yr old 80,000 60% furnace and recently purchased a Ducane downdraft 66,000 btu furnace from Alpine, including sheet metal and recommended thermostat. I did some basic installation research and completed the project in 7 hours. I was a bit concerned about setting the temp rise but found direction using you tube. The furnace runs extremely well and is relatively quiet considering that it's in a closet set up in a 3 bedroom ranch house. If you install it your self just take your time and research. It's very satisfying when it lights for the first time. Good luck.

"Great furnace"
I have been installing ducane furnaces since they came in our area youngstown ohio for 15 years and I love them. every bad comment about the gas furnace sounds like the customer never changes the filter, sized too big, blocked returns due to boxes and furniture blocking it,maintainance not done every year or not properly installed.in this day and age of electronics any furnace can have its problems.if a circut board is repeatly going out you have a feed back condition on the neutral line. we had a problem with a board that kept going out and traced it to a bad dehumidifier in the basement a motor winding was feeding back, also a bad flourescent light balllast could also do the same, one time a customer was a avid woodworker and we traced the feedback to a radial saw motor.anything with a motor can cause a feedback if it has a weak winding, like a washing machine, dryer you get the idea.when a inducer motor goes out a cause could be not enough pipe pitch back to the furnace or a blocked drain, pipe run too long or wrong size, sags in the pipe should b suppoted every 4 feet.just to let you know when you register your furnace on line you get a 10 year parts warranty.labor is still charged but we have about a 2% service issues with ducanes and there parts.about there parts they use honeywell witch is very easy to get parts for our supplier gets. special parts the ones that normally are not stocked in 1-2 days.we insall 75-100 ducanes a year. yes ducane had issues with a certain type of oil furnace that had design flaws but that furnace has been discontinued about 10 years ago.when ducane came out in the 50's they made oil furnaces for almost every manufactor with other brand names.their oil furnaces today are very reliable as long as they are set up with a combustion analyzer to set draft, co, o2,temp rise, etc.in closing any ducane is good as the person installing it and maintaining it every year, not just when it doesn't work.change your filter at least 2 times a year.

"works great, 10 years without problems!"
As for most mechanical systems, the single most important thing is to have it installed correctly! I have had my Ducane furnace for ten years now, I have it maintained professionally and have never had any problems. My heating guy said the only time these act up is if they are installed wrong... Just like any other furnace. The problem is people sell the furnace to Joe Shmoes like me and then they find the cheapest guys to install it, or worse yet... hack it in themselves. My son just had one installed and he could not be home so I did the home sitting detail for him while they did their jobs, I had no idea how many things had to be done just right or problems will result 1 to 5 years later. My previous home had a "Trane"... Nothing but trouble.

"RUN AWAY--- DON'T BUY DUCANE!!!---"
First month started to smell oil. The heat exchanger was bad -- had to replace it. Since getting this junk I have had nothing but problems, replaced everything but the tin and fan. The fan is making noise. Don't know which is worse: the fan or the jet sound. Had to buy electric heaters because the furnace breaks down every year.... Worst product I ever bought. As I read in other post you get what you pay for. I tried to save a few bucks but have suffered for 5 years. Research and pay a little more up front and have peace of mind.

"poor performance"
Sadly, when building my new home in 2005, I did not insist upon a specific manufacturer of furnace. I have regretted it ever since. Pilot issues, burned out induction motor, and no real warranty support. On the cooling unit, the copper tubes split the same summer the home was built, and has split once additionally since. Over past month the Ducane has continuously worried me that it was going to fail upon heading into the heating season. I am having it serviced one last time, and based upon the independent repairman's opinion, may chose to preemptively replace the unit so my family is not stranded during January. Very disappointed in the product and certainly would not suggest the purchase of the Ducane Fits-All, regardless of budget.

"My new house got a new furnace"
Since this was basically a Lennox product, we were hopeful it would be as good as our old Lennox furnace. The installation went very smooth and the technicians were great. However, we have had quite a few problems with the thermostat as well as the fan motor. Both have been replaced more than once. It seems the problems are fixed now, but it was a long 6 months and a lot of arguments with Ducane customer service. All in all, it works great now, but initially I was not satisfied at all. If they worked on their customer service, I would have been a lot more satisfied.
