"Amana Tech Support is a Joke"
The hot surface igniters burn up about every 8 months. I'm a DIY'er but I spoke with the local company who I get my igniters from (who is awesome by the way). He gave me some suggestions to try and told me I should talk to Amana Technical Support. I tried. Consumer Division will only give me names of Licensed Contractors in my area. Other Tech support lines won't even talk to me and were pretty rude and short. They said they couldn't tell me anything at all because I might "blow my house up!" For Christ's sake give me a break. How am I going to do that if they tell me that there is an upgrade kit available so my danged furnace doesn't go out every winter? I don't know who’d better but I know Amana Sucks.

"amana model adv80703bx"
This furnance is a piece of crap. If you set the temp back 10 deg. when you go to bed; it will take 3 hrs to reach 70 deg. on a day when the outside temp is in the mid 20s.

"Not reliable...poor warranty coverage"
I have replaced the igniter on this furnace twice in the last 18 months! Warranty people are very uncooperative, they want us to go through a dealer to get a part warranted. My dealer won’t co-operate. The warranty says the part is covered but the dealer says it isn’t. What am I supposed to do? Keep replacing igniters?

I have a 2000 Amana furnace and have had to replace the igniter 5 times in the past 33 months. The unit was in my house when I bought it in 2006 and the previous owners had major issues with it also. Going out today to buy a new furnace - non Amana.

"80% Multi Speed"
Replaced 50 year old furnace (never a problem) to add air conditioning to the house. Have had three breakdowns in less than one year. I am concerned that if we leave the house for any length of time during the winter and furnace goes out that my water pipes will freeze and burst. Used a local company that was supposed to have a very good reputation. They apparently don't know their products. I feel scammed.

"AMANA HE IIQ"
Didn't last very long (3 years). Now the components cost more than what the unit is actually worth.

"PROBLEM FURNACE"
Amana was once a good product line until Goodman took over and made it a cheap piece of equipment like the Goodman line.

Horrible! I have a list about 2 ft. long posted on the front of the furnace door. We just had the igniter replaced yet again! Number six! This is the second furnace; first one lasted a lofty five (5) yes that's right five years! So this is the second. We've had to replace the hot water heater, all those ignitors, the circuit board (that was $1200), and, as they say, much much more! Now I hear they're out of the furnace business, small wonder, supposed to be under Goodman but I'm not sure that's even accurate.

To those of you who had problems withyour Amana furnace. In the 1980's Amana was in the lead with efficiency, however their were some issues with some of their furnaces. Good dependable Amana dealers were always able to fix the problems. If you were having repeated problems with your furnace, maybe the real problem was your dealer. I am still repairing Energy Command Furnaces that went out of production in 1992. Parts are starting to get scarce and if you still have one of these units in your home you should consider having it replaced SOON! Remember always purchase the EXTENDED PARTS AND LABOR WARRANTY !!
