Carrier (Bryant) Corporate History
In 1902, Willis Carrier invented what we now know as air conditioning. Around the same time, Charles
Bryant founded the Natural Gas Regulator Co. and soon began to manufacture water heaters. By the 1930s,
his company was also active in air conditioning and became part of Dresser Industries. In 1958 Carrier
formed a corporation that includes Bryant, which in turn was purchased by United Technologies Corporation
in 1979.
