"Worst Company Weil - McLain, stay away"
I bought these Weil McLain 2 years ago. In less than 3 years, it started to leak from the heat exchanger. I called the company for the warranty but they refused to give it. We argued and they asked me to ship the boiler to their manufacturer in the United States of America to diagnose the problem and after checking they will let me know if it is still covered or not. I got a quote for shipping from them and it is almost $700. Again, they did not give me a guarantee if they will replace it or repair it. It took me over 20 emails to reply, and after all they refused to cover the warranty on it.

"Ultra 155"
Installed in '05. Generally reliable, then this winter, within 2 weeks it was "red tagged" by the gas company due to a failed gasket. Then the blower died and left us without heat for 24 hours. When technology works, it's wonderful. When it doesn't, it really doesn't. Think very carefully before buying one of these.

"Don't buy this boiler"
We have had continual problems since installation in 2005. The boiler goes out frequently, requiring manual reset . We had to replace the controller board twice and the entire firebox, seals, etc. once. It still doesn't work consistently, requiring us to have people constantly check it while out of town during mt winters. It will be out the door shortly!

"Avoid Weil-McClain"
We spent thousands of dollars on a new wm boiler and could not be any less happy with it. It shuts down and 'locks out' in the coldest weather and doesn't seem to be fixable. The repairman has been here countless times and even brought a WM area rep once and we still have problems. We were induced to buy by being told we could save up to 40% on our gas bill. After three heating seasons, we have had exactly a big fat zero reduction in our CF usage. Our old boiler wasn't even a problem, just the pump. This was a HUGE mistake. I hate this boiler. I would never, ever recommend buying a WM boiler unless I had a grudge against the person and wanted some really great revenge.

"Gold Series Failure after 15 years"
Front cast iron section of boiler cracked and leaking after just a little less than 15 years of service. Requires complete replacement. Have a 19 years old Blue Series Weil McLain in my other house, has worked well without problems. Company changed hands in the 1990's and quality control was not maintained.

"Frustrated in Alaska"
We had a new Gold gv-3 installed in July 2009. after about 2 years it sarted making loud banginfg noises (explosions) which would dislodge the direct vent exhaust gasket and allow exhaust fumes into the house. These were investigated and determined to be "hard Starts" About 2 months ago a very loud explosion woke us up. I inspected it to find the exhasust duct blown apart and the vent cap blown off the top, the cap was found in my yard. Since then, the unit make a low rumbling noise upon start up and we've had technicians and distribitor reps out at least 4 times to attempt a diagnosis to no avail. This mornigng it was 57 degrees in my house 0 F outside! Apparantly after another service call a pump is malfunctioning since it is pumping hot water out of my house! Try your luck with a different brand!

"Cracked case, refused warranty at 2 years old!"
Boiler is 2 years old, the cast iron assembly cracked (which is stated to have a lifetime warranty). They refused warranty so I had it welded, cracked again in another spot the next winter. Now they say they will warranty it if I pay shipping on the old unit back to them, then wait 3-5 weeks for the replacement! Stay away, they are junk!

"Ultra is very unreliable"
Installed the Weil-McLain 6 years ago and have never made it more that six months without it quitting. Suspect the electronics have caused most of the problems. However, no one has been able to repair it right. On line help and phone help from the company has been nonexistant. New mother board ordered, five to six hundred more dollars down the drain. If I had the funds, I would start up a national ad campaign against the company and see if that would get their attention.

"Stay away from Weil-Mclain"
Boiler was installed 16 yrs ago and maintained regularly. Crack developed in the casting. This is completely inexcusable. Stay away from this brand. Also one of my technicians who services it said that the system 2000 is also terrible. I'm going with Slant-Fin now. My original Slant-Fin lasted over 25 years.
