"Utica Boiler 41 Years Old"
This boiler was installed in 1972. Original boiler, I have owned it for ~38 years. No problem with the boiler itself. A few problems with gas valve, solenoid valves and a pump. No leaks. I'm in the process of getting quotes now to replace it. Still works fine, but I'm worried about it's age and I'd like better efficiency. But after reading some of these reviews, I'm wondering if I should!

"I'll Take Another 17.5 Years"
Our Utica boiler cracked after 17.5 years in service. Had it serviced every fall and it worked fine throughout. Just installed another. This one will out-live me.

"Great Boiler!"
I've had this boiler for over 16 years, and it's still going strong. It was installed correctly and I am very happy that I have it. I have never had any trouble with it, or had any maintenance on it or needed any.

"Its a keeper"
I installed this thing two years ago and couldn't be happier. My plumber talked me into this vs the high efficiency models. Trade off is about 5 to 10 points less efficient but a lot less headaches. As he said 10 things have to go right for those high efficiency models to even ignite and you need a $300 service call every year. This replaced another cast iron boiler that was probably 40 years old. The efficiency gains were more than noticeable. Only problem I had was the electric damper closing device. Had to replace it after a year but it was simple and free. I love this boiler and sleep well at night. It was very reasonable, professionally installed in under a day and at least 33% more efficient than what I had. I can see it in my gas bill.

"Great piece of machinery"
Bought ub 90 - 200 unit actually 150,000 btus 4 years ago had it professionally installed, by someone I knew and trusted.have not had one problem with it from what ive been told most people have problems because the installer takes short cuts or uses cheap parts. also have a direct water heater installed on it. People: try servicing the unit like it's supposed to be and it will operate correctly.

"10 years, USC-4"
Had a usc-4 installed 10 years ago, only problem has been the Honeywell gas valve went bad after 8 years. a new one cost $130 and I was able to replace it myself. Other than that, it has performed flawlessly.

"GAS VALVE NIGHTMARE"
In five years I have had to replace the Gas Valve Mechanical as of today five times. The system was installed the end of 2006. They sent me one new pump, but that went bad in one year. I sent it back to Utica today, with my feelings in writing. I hold "0" hope for their forwarding $375.00 to repair my gas fired boiler. This furnace has four igniters replaced, also.

"replacing a 20 year old Utica boiler"
I'm in the process of replacing a Utica boiler I had installed in our home 20 years ago. The current unit is working fine, but this is our retirement home and I plan on living in it for another 10 to 20 years and don't want to deal with a boiler that fails on its schedule instead of mine. We will replace it when it's nice and warm out and not during the winter in an emergency situation. A friend of mine who is a plumber tells me most boiler failures are due to faulty installation, and properly installed, hot water boilers are pretty free of trouble. That has been the case with our Utica boiler.

"MAINTAIN PROPERLY"
NOT ALL GOOD THINGS CAN BE CONSIDERED BAD. I BOUGHT A UTICA GAS STEAM BOILER 14 WINTERS AGO, REPLACING ANOTHER BRAND. THIS BOILER HAS WORKED CONSISTENTLY WITHOUT TROUBLE UNTIL THIS WINTER WHEN IT SPRUNG A LEAK. THATS A PRETTY LONG RUN. BY ALL MEANS IT COULD HAVE GONE LONGER. BUT CAN WE CONTINUOUSLY DRAG DOWN EVERY MANUFACTURING ENTITY WE HAVE IN THIS COUNTRY BECAUSE WE HAVE THE POWER TO WRITE FREELY. THINK OF WHAT MAY HAVE GONE WRONG BEFORE PASSING BLAME.

"UB90-100LP"
I had to replace my oil furnace and made the switch to propane. My furnace installer sells Utica. I checked this site and was surprised to find such negative reviews. I told him about it. He said he hadn't had any issues and he promptly told his distributor who told the company. When they collectively researched the reviews, most of the units were not the one I was looking at, but aside from that,it was found on all but a couple that either installation was incorrect or there was too much antifreeze added, which caused leaking. How many people have bothered to write a positive review? We are always fast to complain, but slow to praise. These are how many negative reviews out of how many units sold? 100? 1000? 10,000? I trust my furnace installer and know he would not handle a product on which he has to deal with complaints. I am thrilled with my boiler and would buy another.
